BTS rappers always write their own verses, in fact the group writes a lot of their own material. The rapper you like is RM the leader, and the voice you noticed at the beginning was Jimin. And the voice "by himself, gave me chills" was Jungkook.

@@TEEJ-9If RM’s lines resonated with you, you will probably love quite a lot of BTS songs, because he’s involved in many of the lyrics beyond his own rap verses. RM is a fantastic lyricist. He’s very intelligent (genius-level IQ), a serious reader/thinker and has the most writing credits in the group (over 200). The Map Of The Soul album series explores the Jungian concepts of Persona, Shadow and Ego.

The backup dancers are a dance group called The Lab. They are usually the ones BTS use when performing in the US. I love the secondhand joy of watching other people getting to experience these songs and videos for the first time.
Did I hear you say at the start you usually listen to metal? If so, I have some recommendations! Seo Taiji - Ultramania or Internet War. Released in 2000, very nu-metal. You can also find video of BTS performing live with Seo Taiji which was pretty cool. On the kpop side, Stray Kids Lalalala is pretty good (they did a more rock version when they played the Billboard awards but it was good as is,) or Dreamcatcher's Scream. Oh! Not metal at all, but if you listen to BTS songs like We Are Bulletproof Pt 2, Boy In Luv, and Jump, some of the vocals make me really want to hear them do something a bit more rock/metal cos they've got some great growls.

FYI some clarification this is not a music video this is defined as a performance video but not performed live. Like a music video they were lip syncing you could tell because they had no microphones. This was filmed in Los Angeles CA in January 2020 I would have to say because the album it is from map of the soul seven was released in or roundabout the 14th of February 2020. Add this video was released when the album was released. About a week after this video was released the official music video for ON was released it was filmed in the Los Angeles area also. I would suggest reacting to the official music video for the song ON. Then sometime before or after the official music video watch this performance again but live at the Grand Central terminal New York City for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon it was performed in then sometime in January 2020 or February. They actually closed down the terminal for three to four hours to set everything up and film the live performance sometime between midnight and 4:00 in the morning.

And I am Not putting down any other KPop groups. There are so many talented groups. But because of their longevity and experience no one can match them yet. My opinion. One reason. They dance all genres. These guys are true artists. You have no idea how and why they got so good. It's a story I hope you're curious to find out the answer why. I discovered them by accident on February 24, 2020, on the Tonight Show. Jimmy Fallon introduced them. I had never heard of them. Ironically they debuted this song "On" for the first time at Grand Central Station in New York City. They were promoting the song from their new album "7". This was the first stop on their new Worldwide Tour and I mean Every Continent tour! Guess what happened? Look at the date again. They were called into a meeting. They tour had been cancelled!!! Why?? The pandemic hit and spread. The whole world shut down. They were shocked and devastated. They had worked so hard to prepare. They never got to perform "On" to a Live audience! He was the first member of BTS whom the group was formed around. As the middle child of the group it is unusual that he is the de facto leader but the members wouldn't have it any other way. He is respected by his teammates and the company alike. He writes a majority of the group's lyrics and he is the youngest and second highest number of songs (218) registered songwriter with the Korea Music Copyright Association.

RM has Persona, Suga Shadow and J-Hope Ego. Suga's track is my favourite, but he is my bias in BTS 😂 so, you'll see them talking about their definition of themselves here a lot, their fears, image for the public and ambition. Nearly all who get to know these super-talented, humble artists end up having a favorite. In the k-pop world, your favorite is called your bias. My bias is Jungkook (JK). He was the one dressed in black with a white tank and black hair. He was also the one who sang the gorgeous high register solo -- that gives me chills! And yes Jimin is captivating - he is classically trained in modern dance. He's beautiful. Welcome to BTS world!

Because these guys cover SO MANY genres and have nearly 400 collective songs (if not more), here are some starter suggestions:
    - EDM -- Fire (has a music video)
    - Lyrical hiphop - Back Swan (music video)
    - Ballad - The Truth Untold (no music video, but there are lyric videos online that tell you who is singing -- just the vocal line)
    - Straight rap -- Tear (no music video, just the rap line, there is a really good live performance with English subs where they're wearing black fits)
    - Latin pop - Airplane Pt. 2 (music video)
    - Funky pop - Dynamite (music video)
    - Electronic hiphop - Not Today (music video)
    - Poppy pop - Boy with Luv featuring Halsey (music vidoe)
    - Rock rap - Run BTS (not to be confused with "Run" by BTS, no music video but there is an awesome dance practice
    - Moody - Louder Than Bombs (only a fan-made video which is actually really good)
    - Cover of other artist - Fix You by Coldplay (live performance on MTV)
    - Funky hiphop - Dis-ease (no music video, lyric translations tend to be off so I'd get real translations from DoolSetBangtan website)
I'm sure I'm forgetting a genre or five. These guys are insanely talented -- not just as performers, but as writers, producers, directors, musicians and philanthropists.

The rappers write their verses nearly all the time - there are a handful of exceptions here and there but their roots are in real rap, in the underground. They studied hiphop, they use rap to tell their real stories.
If you dig in you can learn the different rap styles of all 3 rappers... they're each unique in terms of content and delivery. The one who resonates with me the most personally is Suga (emotionally raw and direct lyrics, polyrhythms, vocal creaks) but they're all really good.
Jungkook - the singer of that solo - has a voice that can give anyone chills. If you just want shivers down your spine check out the song "Hate You" off his solo album Golden.
If you want to hear the singers show off, a live performance of Truth Untold will break your heart in the best way. If you want the rappers to break your heart instead, Outro: Tear is amazing.
They're really, really good live. Born for the stage. If you want to take the time to watch a song more than once, pair a studio version with a live maybe, we'll watch 😁
Once you know them a little better, i think you'll love Born Singer, too.
Welcome to the rabbit hole. It's very nice down here 💜

The “guy” you like… or his vibe and lyrics is RM. He’s the leader of BTS, the first one to join the group and does write many of the lyrics for their songs. He’s wicked smart. I think he was in the top 1.5% scholastically in all of South Korea for his age group. (Maybe some ARMY out there can correct me.)
He is incredibly intuitive when it comes to steering the group, allowing each of the members to explore and expand their unique vibe while at the same time unifying all of them in one goal for each album. In my opinion, they don’t seem like k-pop to me. They’ve recorded songs in every genre I can think of.
I think one of the most impressive things I like about RM is that despite his struggle with anxiety, he is incredibly cool under pressure, especially when being grilled by the media. His responses are deep and wise and well beyond his years. He’s awesome.😊 I guess speaking three times at the United Nations has helped. 😂

  • @cboz6137
    @cboz6137 Před 4 měsíci

Saw you did the BTS Guide so I am just catching up to know what you've seen up to that point. The guy with the solo and the music turned down was Jungkook. Seriously he goes live from his living room and takes requests and has the most incredible voice from rap to ballad he can do it all. They all give 150% in everything they do. They do write their own lyrics and flows (they collab with their in-house team and each other of course). Especially the rapline have been writing since before their debut. One of the rapline didn't even come in knowing how to rap but developed his own style after living with the other two in their trainee days. One of the vocalists (who does amazing ballads now) didn't even know how to sing or dance when he started. These guys are impressively talented, especially knowing their songs come from their journeys, stories, and thoughts. But even more impressively hard working and the strongest mental fortitude of anyone else. The things they had to overcome and still have to deal with because of prejudice and injustices is fairly heartbreaking when you see it. If you watch them long enough, you will probably see it. They used to have RM read the horrendous comments targeted at him and his response was just that he would show them all. But still... the pain to hear people question your authenticity when your main goal is simply to be authentic... I can't imagine that day after day and year after year. You have 10 years to catch up on by the way and it is a super fun journey. Some eras may sound somewhat similar but honestly I find that no two songs are the same. So if you don't like something just check out the next one. In their discography of over 400 songs now I think, their are only 3 I don't like and those 3 are songs the rest of the world love. But that's just my taste. I don't care for uber pop, but I am a punk girl from youth. Butter and Dynamite and 3D are not my cup of tea. But I appreciate Butter and Dynamite in that they were trying to create comfort songs during a time (pandemic) when there was so much pain. And those songs are how a lot of people in America came to know them, including myself. Anyway... looking forward to more of your journey. :)

Ah you noticed RM again, our leader who is also a poet. Yeah he writes most of BTS' lyrics in general but the 3 rappers tend to write their own lyrics in most songs. BTS is basically the opposite end of kpop from BlackPink, who is the epitome of the company that just throws money and music at them and the members were picked due to all being all-round perfect idols from one of the biggest k-talent companies whereas BTS was the rags-to-riches due to diamonds in the rough and took down Goliath's type success which is another reason why they are so beloved.

I didn’t fall down the rabbit hole until Jan 2023. Before that I had only seen a late night talk show performance of Dynamite and just thought “ok, Korean Backstreet Boys, whatever” because fluffy pop isn’t really my thing. But then I saw the Boy In Luv video (Not BoyWith Luv, which has Halsey in it) and I fell in love with that song, which was a lot like the pop punk music I used to play in my old band. I especially love RM in his blonde undercut rapping over the high school PA about how angsty he feels about the girl he likes who isn’t giving him the time of day. This is from their debut year and it’s still my favorite. Reminds me a bit of Blink 182 First Date in that it’s one of the rare songs that acknowledges teen boy confusion and angst about dating. m.czcams.com/video/m8MfJg68oCs/video.html&pp=ygUNQm95IGluIGx1diBtdg%3D%3D

I'm sure you've gotten quite a plethora of information from a wide variety of fans since your last video. Here's a small bit, as well: 1) Mic Drop was released in 2018, and was a commentary towawrds their haters and detractors.
BTS debuted in 2013, and RM and Suga were underground rappers prior to this group, so people they knew before they signed with Big Hit were banging on them about joining an idol group, and saying they'd sold out.
    2) ON was released late 2019, and they'd planned a tour for 2020, but had to cancel due to the Covid pandemic. So there's a little time between these 2 releases and they changed up their styles for each album. As someone already mentioned, the group of dancers behind BTS is the LAB, and they won a season of 'World of Dance'. But they also had a live band, and filmed this particular video in California.
About the dancers of BTS, Jimin is classically trained in contemporary ballet, and J-Hope trained himself in Hip Hop by watching videos of old school hip hop dancers and practicing hard core. But all the members can dance, and practiced 8-12 hours a day for most of these videos.

On a pie chart of KPop in terms of accolades and awards, and in terms of sales and streaming, BTS are literally bigger than all of KPop combined. They have won near 1000 awards. In terms of artistry, style and methods they also break a lot of KPop rules and always have set their own standard. They eclipse KPop utterly. Not to dump on KPop at all, as there are plenty of very talented and hard-working artists there. It's just facts. There are a lot of videos you could find on CZcams about how BTS Paved the Way for others or Trends BTS Started. Many things considered standard today are just copying them. Even western boy bands are trying to have comebacks on BTS coattails.
They have been nominated for 5 Grammys (And robbed! They should have for sure won some of those as they were by far the most accomplished ones in their category with the biggest hits nominated) and won numerous Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards and many others. They have swept all the major awards at the MNET Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) and the Melon Music Awards (MMAs), the only artists ever to do that, and they have done it year, after year, after year. In 2022 MAMA made up a new award for them called The Platinum Award, for sweeping all the major awards so many times. In 2023 they called BTS "The Greatest of All Time." S Korea has put them on their postage stamps - a first for a living artist.
yes....Legends. No one comes close. They get compared to the Beatles, because that is the scale and scope they are at.
    "Whoever that was...."
That was Mr Kim Namjoon, stage name RM - the group leader and the same one you noticed in Mic Drop. It's too early to say you have a bias, but you definitely have an early preference...LOL
Note - I mention this because a lot of western reactors forget this or didn't know it to begin with, but S Korea, like most Asian countries, puts surnames first and given names second. So Kim is his family surname, or western "last name" and a common one in S Korea. Namjoon is his given or familiar "first name." RM is his stage name. It started out meaning Rap Monster, but he later changed it to Real Me to reflect his personal inner growth, though his producing studio is still called Mon Studio.
Also, the lyrics about the shadows that you liked = This song is off an album series, The Map of the Soul Series, which is based on Jungian Psychology and is a deep dive into both archetypal themes and their own psyches, personal struggles, fears, flaws, hopes, dreams and loves. It delves into Jung's Map of the Soul, exploring the Persona, Shadow, Ego and other aspects of the self. It's typical of their raw, honest and self-revelatory music. The writing on V's face that you might have noticed in the video says "The Shadow Like Me." Their concept albums are sometimes stand-alone albums but often they run in sets or series of 1-4 albums exploring different aspects of their theme, such as The School Series, The Youth Series (also called Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa or The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Series), The Love Yourself Series, etc. The series also include Japanese language releases with rewritten and remixed versions of their songs in Japanese, as well as original Japanese singles. The Map of the Soul Series includes an EP, a long album and a Japanese album.
"Whoever that was by himself just now"
Do you mean in the white with blue hair dancing?
In which case that was Jimin.
Or do you mean when there was the vocal solo with the person in black with a white shirt?
In which case that was Jungkook.
In the background are dancers from The Lab Creative Arts Studio in Los Angeles and the Blue Devils Marching Band, although the band on the actual studio track is the UCLA Marching Band. This was filmed at Sepulveda Dam in Los Angeles. The first dancer zoomed in on at the beginning of the MV is Sienna Lalau, a Hawaiian native who is the main choreographer for this performance, and was only 19 at the time, but has worked with BTS many times since then.
