Looking after your Pole Elastic

  • Pole elastic is a very important part of your pole set up, and can easily be over looked as far as mantaining its life span.
Pole elastic will dry out, you may notice that when you purchase new elastic it has a nice sort of oily film to it. Over time this washes off / drys out meaning the elastic can start to become brittle and rough thus failing.
Silicone pole elastic lubricant goes a long way to slow down the degrading of your pole elastics. By adding a very fine film to your elastics will help protect it from the likes of the sun rain etc. It will help against drying out plus helping it run smoother though the ptfe bush in your pole.
On an addtional note regarding puller kits. I treat the puller end of my elastics in the same way as the rig connector end. If your stripping elastic from your pole this will possibly take more hammer than the other so it makes sense to use silicone lubricant here to.
As per the clip I really do not reccomend pouring silicone lubricant down you top kits as it only causes problems with sticking elastics.
You can get a bottle of pole elastic lubricant from our store using the link below

It was recommended by a guy who worked in the tackle shop to just use the wife's, Hair Conditioner, with a bit of water, just enough to loosen it mind. I haven't used anything else & works Great!!
