- I'm building my own log cabin solo! I add bracer logs to all the walls of the cabin, finish the half-walls on the side and front, add a floating roof for the winter and close off all the openings.

Very creative. This is extremely satisfying to watch. Just curious, as I am starting a shelter build myself, how long are the nails/spikes you used to secure the vertical logs to the horizontal ones? Looks like 6 inches or so. Thanks for the inspiration!
Some are 8" and some are 10". Every time I go back I hammer a couple more spikes in. Eventually every log will have a nail in every bracer, but my shoulder can't take doing it all at once!
