    That's literally amazing, man! lol, I've never thought it's possible to put an RC jet engine on a foam airframe.

    amazing conversion, great work! i have done the 80mm HH f16, the simplicity of this is so very appealing. i think im going to have to order one!

      Thanks. I’ve done the FW F-18 conversion but this one really performs better without having to go through a bifurcated pipe. Flight video and a new conversion project starting soon!

    Amazing! I see a brilliant setup and much logic steps. Do you use stabiliser and/ore Telemetrie. I am just flying my KT45 in a Freewing Avanti without AR3X; and next will be the L-39 for turbineexperience. But this plane is awsom. What about final weight and how goes the tankventilation? Have fun :-)

      Thank you for the kind comments. I do use AS3x but not telemetry. I have had telemetry on other jets but don’t see to use the data much. AS3x is good but I need to play with it a little more to get it fully dialled in. All up weight with the model dry is 4.9kg

  • @almighurt3347
    @almighurt3347 Před 7 měsíci

    I wonder if you could increase the flighttime even further. Maybe with bigger tanks? What do you think?

    • @ticketec
      @ticketec  Před 7 měsíci +1

      You could add a little more fuel, but then the weight goes up and you need to burn off that fuel to get the same performance. Most pilots don’t fly more than 6-8mins, and this is enough fuel for that long.

  • @aerialbugsmasher

    What are you basing the down thrust angle on? At first glance that seems excessive

    • @ticketec
      @ticketec  Před rokem +1

      The angle was calculated on CAD to intersect the CoG. First flights were done with a washer under the turbine mounts to reduce the angle. In flight testing, we removed the washers and have since found slightly more angle could be used.

  • @aviationunlimited4353
    @aviationunlimited4353 Před 11 měsíci

    Nice conversion. Could you please let me know why the turbine mount has down thrust ? why not mount it straight parallel to the thrust line ?

    • @ticketec
      @ticketec  Před 11 měsíci

      The thrust line of the turbine is offset to the center line of the aircraft, this means there is a pitching moment in the turbines thrust vector. A dead straight turbine thrust line causes all these under-slung turbines to make the aircraft climb almost uncontrollably. The supplied STL mount angle is correct to within about 1 degree which gives next to no pitch change with throttle changes during flight.

      @aviationunlimited4353 Před 11 měsíci

      @@ticketec thanks for the explanation. Just one more thing, have you reinforced the airframe and changed the stock servos for the turbine conversion?

    • @ticketec
      @ticketec  Před 11 měsíci

      @@aviationunlimited4353 NO mods required. I flew it with stock servos everywhere,but have since upgraded the elevator servos because the whole elevator system has too much slop and this can cause issues with wings swept back flight

    @billj1585 Před rokem

    Great conversion and video. Any chance you could let me know the turbine angle you finally used in relation to the flat on the bottom of the aircraft? I do not do printing and prefer to do things like this the old fashioned way...plywood and/or aluminum. Thank you.

    Amazing work! Thanks a lot for your sharing. I have only a kingtech 45 engine and want to copy your work. but k45 is a little wider than x45. can it be used on your 3d print convertion part?

    • @ticketec
      @ticketec  Před rokem

      There is a little bit of space, but only about 1-2mm.
      I’m not sure how much wider a K45 is. No one around here flies with them anymore, so I can’t measure and check

    • @maximou3447
      @maximou3447 Před rokem

      @@ticketec thanks for your replying. according to the size on the website, it seems that k45 g4+ is 3mm wider than x45, but the screw hole on mount of k45 is 10mm wider than x45. perhaps i should first print one and have a try

    How many flights do you have now on this ship? Have you made any mods on the ship since you made the video ? Are you interested in emailing me directly ?

    • @ticketec
      @ticketec  Před rokem +1

      Hi, I have 7 flights on it now. The only other mods since those flight other that thrustline testing was to replace one of the Hs-8058mg’s used on the elevator as it developed slop in the gear train. My next mod will be to change those out for even faster servos, as the hitec struggle with centering over time. Feel free to DM me. Thanks

  • @killermed95

    I'm lost at all of this. If the turbo is small enough to fit in the nacelle what keeps you from doing it?

    • @ticketec
      @ticketec  Před rokem

      You will not be able to fit anywhere near enough fuel in the airframe, to run the 2 turbines. And 2 x45 would be waaay too much power for this model

      I used a K30 G2 on my F14 conversion and it flew just fine. I now have X45's and it would be the perfect engine! I used 6 degrees down thrust and it seemed about right, plus a single 750mm tank directly in front of the swing wing mechanism.
