    Nice man! I havent had the balls yet to attempt a flat spin with mine. I felt like it would be too crazy to get out of, but you proved me wrong. I did the same goof with opposite spoiler to elevon. The whole flight had me thinking that the plane was acting weird for some reason until i saw what it was on the ground. Haha. I havent flown mine for a couple months though cause i havent narrowed down the left wing sudden drop when i do a negative g pushover. Even when i have alot of speed the left wing will always shoot towards the belly. Flys great all the rest of the time. Its my third favorite twin 80.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 2 lety

      The thing about flat spins in EDFs is that unless they're so underpowered that they can barely get off the ground, you're unlikely to run into any issue with getting out of the spin. A spin isn't necessarily unrecoverable in radio control - but it is potentially deadly in full scale like the F-14's generally unrecoverable flat spin. There's no issue with engine flameout on EDFs so the power is there instantly when I ask for it. If you're ever concerned but still want to try it, get up to 400 ft and do one spin, then attempt to throttle out. I doubt you'll have any issues!

    Hi Jon. As always, very cool. My RC flying unfortunately doesn’t have a runway for this type of plane.
    I’d like to ask you two questions unrelated to this particular video. I have an ix12 and a number of planes and Helis.
    1) The latest update to the Airware software now causes my ix12 to produce an audio alert (discovered during bench testing) “Battery not charged for flying”. Is this alarm somehow aware of being airborne versus being on the ground?
    2) There are frame rate settings located both in “Model Setup” and in “Forward Programming”. Why are frame rate settings located in both the transmitter and the receiver? What if they’re mismatched?
    There are a lot of undocumented features in my Spektrum ix12.
    I would really appreciate any insight you may have. Thx. Wolfgang

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Wolfgang! The "not charged for flying" alert is found in your Smart Battery telemetry menu. You can disable it from there. It should only go off if a Smart pack is connected that isn't fully charged to 4.1+ volts.
      Frame rate settings in the transmitter determine how fast frames are transmitted. 11ms is faster than 22ms in your transmitter, but reduces the amount of channels that you can transmit. The receiver frame rate in Forward Programming determines how fast servos operate, IIRC. There's no issue with mismatching unless you're using pure analog servos which won't work well, or at all, with 11ms.

    • @wolfgangreiner744
      @wolfgangreiner744 Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Jon, great information. One minor clarification, regarding the battery not charged for flying alert. I like the idea of that alarm. At some point however, a battery in flight will cross the 4.1 volt threshold. Would that not cause this alarm to trigger during flight?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 2 lety

      @@wolfgangreiner744 Sorry about taking a bit of time to get back with you. YT caught you in the spam filter again. The "not charged for flying" warning only pops up when you first turn on a model. It won't activate in-flight - or at least it's not supposed to.

      >a rapid vertical pitchup from level flight without initiating a climb, followed by a forward-pitch back to level flight. If properly performed, the plane maintains nearly straight flight throughout the maneuver. The plane does not roll or yaw in either direction.
      It's not a 120 degree AoA cobra but it's still a cobra. The full scale F-14 didn't do 120 degrees either.

  • @soundknight
    @soundknight Před rokem

    I don't understand the obsession people have with cobra, on a 40 ton jet in the sky it looks cool but it serves no positive tacticle advantage, it's a great way to out manuevered and loose all your speed to not be able to escape.
