    great fun idea, but i do think it could happen in bangkok, thetyhad a formula one car there the other year near the grand palace and bangkok would pull out all the stops to host it i,m sure cheers

      I think there’s more chance in Bangkok where there is better infrastructure and the roads are wider.

    Love to see it , it’s possible but it would cost to lay the surface they need … no drain covers etc probably cheaper to build dedicated track to be used 24/7 land cheap so famous race brand builds factory and track that’s possible
    Silver lake area with that scene would be attractive on tv , but they would need to build dedicated track , the more I think about it that’s the easy way …. Land cheap plus they would get gov support for a project of that scale ….its also construction so good for jobs … win win

    A purpose built track close to U-Tapao would be ideal logistically. Punters could stay and party in Pattaya.

    Sheer size is the biggest problem. F1 strained Vegas, which has 6 times the population of Pattaya. Back when the Australian GP was in Adelaide, there was insufficient accommodation. The government ran a billeting system because Airbnb didn't exist yet. Adelaide is over 10 times the size of Pattaya.
    Pattaya doesn't even have a useful airport. Almost no flights into U-Tapao, so the hundreds of thousands of visitors would have to all get taxis and buses from Bangkok. It would be a disaster. The only Thai city that has the infrastructure to hold an F1 GP is Bangkok.

      They would have to wait until the high speed rail from the BKK airports to Pattaya/U-Tapao is completed first (completion 2029). That solves the transports problem. Plus, set up puddle jumpers from BKK to U-Tapao. It would help if the seaside casino were already completed too. A friend of mine was in a meeting with one of the main people who pushed through the marijuana laws here when the casino was discussed. Thailand needs something to make up for the damaged tourism industry and they are looking at casinos to help out.
      Plus, one of the richest men in Thailand's company raised billions of baht to rebuild Pattaya and they started buying hotels in Jomtien and Pattaya during Covid (their plans were discussed in a Forbes article I read). They want to upgrade Pattaya like the upgrade Vegas went through to reduce its sleazy image.
      I'm not saying that F! will happen, but the high speed rail is being built and the casino idea has elevated above just rumor status. A seaside casino would work well in Pattaya. Plus, these government officials want their crack at the under the table deals a casino would bring, so they are personally vested in it happening. Like Thaksin did with his telecommunications business here.

      I bet Pattaya has got 10 times or even 20 times the hotel accommodation though. And at least it has an airport, which could have flights into there. Most of the aviation is private I would imagine for a Formula One race.

    • @LePubPattaya
      @LePubPattaya  Před měsícem +1

      I bet Pattaya has 10 or 20 times the amount of hotel capacity van Adelaide. Also, most of the aviation would probably be private into a Formula One race. It does have excellent logistics from Bangkok. SE Asias biggest airport

    • @CaptainKremmen
      @CaptainKremmen Před měsícem +1

      @@LePubPattaya One or the other of those may be true, but you can't have it both ways. Most of Pattaya's hotels are cheap. The private aviation crowd doesn't stay in 800 baht/night rooms. And have you seen the price of F1 tickets these days? People who go to F1 expect to stay in the Hilton, not the Green View.

    You track idea not bad , the journey is about right but to many man hole covers illegal in f1 ….. so the whole circuit would need new roads, possible but expensive for two days per year, no chance funding goes into street circuit bkk possible but man hole covers as city built on canals…… its possible but dedicated track will get better value for Thailand…. Land cheap …… silver lake possibly because down near marina they have built new highway from bkk to that area and new malls going in next 3 years , basically new area …….. that’s were u build track , then as f1 starts in 5 years it’s around new malls roads and hotel , plus marina their and international boat show same time would be perfect fit , normal Nov that would help hi season start earlier, I could see that working , in fact it’s not difficult but realistically the process would end up corrupt so it would never fully reach potential…. Thailand home of the great plan half the job ! Unless they leave job to western corporations and stand back , possible but highly unlikely
