So, this was humiliating. I’m not mad, that we lost to Canada, they’re a great team, but we literally embarrassed ourselves.

The same thing happened years ago with Russia.Once European stars have played awhile in the NHL they have a hard time readjusting to the European game.The Russians were dynamite when they were under strict control but once the Union broke up and they could come to North America their game was never the same!

The Soviet team always played together all year round while the Canadians were assembled quickly and were out of shape. But it didn't take us long to get in shape to defeat the Soviets

6-1 is a surprise, but not the win. The Czech team is one line, and Canada closed it. Canada is a very young team, some top talents, speed, and is maturing with each shift. Boys are becoming men, very good for their careers. Finally, I see some good defence, and checking at the blue line: this must continue. The physical play must increase to finnish the checks. If Canada can play a strong, disciplined game, they can defeat the Finns. let's see.

Im guessing you didn't watch the game? Dude, the referree calls were horrible this game early on which ruined the flow of the game. What motivation will the Chechs have if they're already down 4-1 in the 2nd period? The referees ruined the game, and im not even a fan of either team.

@@TriGamesHD yes, when the best of all players in the Soviet Union played against no name, low level players who literally were not in the top three or four LEAGUES in Canada/US and were put together for the first time, usually without much practice time and little or no game time. Russia are pretty good, and are favourable contenders to win against Canada.

You're right they did seem to kinda give up. Chances-wise, the game was pretty even, just a couple goals went Canada's way at the right time and Czechia missed a couple golden opportunities. Closer game than the 6-1 score suggests
For Canada to win this they're going to have to stay out of the box but at the same time lay on some body.European teams traditionally back off the rougher it gets!

As a Canadian, i hope the Finns win the final because their fans actually care about this tournament. Not salty, just pointing out the we Canadians (vast majority by a wide margin) pay so little attention to it i doubt most know Canada is even in the final, let alone who is on the team. Since the Finnish fans do care, i'll be glad that they can find extra joy in their lives with a win, as we all need a little more happiness in this world.

I just confused. Did they change the rules? Wasn’t the Czech republic supposed to play agaisnt Finland and the US against Canada in the semi-finals? It was always like this for many years. After the quater finals, the winner of 1st/4th placed teams plays agaisnt the winner of the 2nd/3rd placed teams in the semifinals. The same thing happened last year.

They changed the rules a couple of years ago. Now the semifinalist that collected most points in the group phase faces the one that collected the least. That's why Finland got USA.
No. Quarterfinals see 1A vs. 4B, 2A vs. 3B, 1B vs. 4A and 2B vs. 3A. Then the semi-finals are re-seeded, where teams are ranked based on: 1) position in their group; 2) number of points from the preliminary round; 3) goal differential in preliminary round; 4) goals for, preliminary round; 5) seeding number entering the tournament. The highest ranked team plays the lowest, and 2nd plays 3rd. This was done last year as well, and in 2019 (2020 was, of course, cancelled). I'm not sure when it started to be done this way.
So the rankings for semi-final re-seeding were -Switzerland (20 pts),- Finland (19 pts), -Sweden (18 pts),- -Germany (16 pts),- Canada (15 pts), Czechia (13 pts, +6 GD, 19 GF), USA (13 pts, +6 GD, 18 GF) and -Slovakia (12 pts).- Teams crossed out were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Thus the highest ranked remaining team is Finland, and they played the lowest-ranked remaining team, USA. If the US also had scored 19 GF in the preliminary round (while keeping a +6 GD), they would've been ranked above Czechia and would've played Canada (as they were ranked ahead of Czechia going into this tournament).

Same could be said about american referee giving first 2 goals to Canada against Czechia. Honestly sometimes i feel like Canada had so many rude and dangerous actions against Finns and referees did nothing. What I think is that referees were just sthraight up bad overall.

I actually Believed but maaaan....
i think they really werent that far, and im serious. we didnt score our big chances in first period but if we did, I think it would be close game until the end. Because one of the typical czech thing last couple of years is playing good when we lead or the game is tied, but when opponent leads the score, czech players refuses to play how the coach said them and they just panic and try too much which creates more scoring chances to the opponent, which teams like canada can use in their favor. Sadly I think this generation just isnt ready to win big matches, because czech teams never were really dominant in terms of skill or pure talent of each player (besides 2000 era), but they still won some medals, for example 2010 when we lost to Norway and switzerland and still won the whole thing.
Dude they were evenly matched until then refs made 2 horrible calls and gifted Canada 2 powerplays. Up until those absolutely horrible calls, the game was exciting.

Finland has gotten better these last few years and last time in 2020 we were very close to beating them too so I'd say Finland and Canada are both on the same level in these tournaments, and almost in the same level even if all teams had their best players

They really should stop giving giveaway penalties after the other team has gotten deserved penalties. We have seen this happen so many times now. Czechia vs refs. They ruined the game by giving them a 2 minute penalty twice - when it was 1-2 to Canada, later, when 1-3 Canada. Both were VERY bad, undeserved calls which ruined the flow of the Czechs.
