The human host is basically just a limiter, but when fully in control, the spirit (zarathos) was described as having god-like, virtually limitless power. That is without help of any outside source. 4. The rider could not be destroyed by an angel who obtained the actual omnipotent powers of God. 5. Ghost rider bodied a team consisting of Doctor Strange, Wanda Maximoff, Thor plus other avengers and x-men. The only way of stopping him was to transfer the spirit to someone else. To Rogue of the x-men specifically (since her mutant ability is to suck leech powers) and even she was getting torn apart by the spirit until blaze took it back and calmed it down. So no Spawn does not sweep, he'd honestly be more of a victim as he literally and figuratively is covered in sin.

The penance stare doesn't require regret since it punishes you for crimes regardless of how its victim feels. Thanos tried to pull that on Cosmic Ghost Rider and he still got erased.
That wasn't the penance stare. Gr even says to thanos "did i say anything about a stare" , "penance requires pain" gr uses hellfire/penancefire to burn thanos along with his soul.
I believe the reason ghost rider is so strong, is because of his previous life as an arch angel zarathos being the embodiment of justice, he can fight on par with mephisto due to the fact he has similar heritage and divinity.
Did you not watch the video about the power and speed gap? Or are you and the others in this reply section just stupid? Also, GR is WAY quicker to the trigger than Spawn and Spawn using powers like that drains his soul because of his deal. That weakness is removed with Divine Spawn, but the power, speed, and willingness gap is WAY too big for Spawn to do jack shit.
I don't feel like Mephisto is a good indicator since he seems to only really use his powers for others but with the obvious "Monkey's Paw" effect, and even the Pandemonium Cube wasn't perfect. I think Spawn has the Win here because, even without his Divine powers, all of Ghost Riders powers are fueled by hell itself and would probably just end up refueling Spawn power meter.

I would say Spawn, because in divine he actually held God and Satan back in a 1v2, plus his magic is so much more than that. I'd also like to point out that even in normal spawn, when he met an angel he accidentally warped reality to send her to hell so reality bending and warping, and only required help to seal off heaven and hell because he didn't know how, but he did know how to create another dimension as well as reforming the entire universe without even stressing. It'd be way too close of a fight but spawn would most likely pull out on top

He himself proclaimed that he would've been locked into an endless battle against God and Satan tag team, which implies in a 1v1 he would at the bare minimum be able to out last them stamina wise, and high balling would be able to beat one at a time. Meaning a Mephisto level threat would be basically nothing considering Spawn was able to destroy and recreate the entire universe easily. And a main point here was the penance stare, but would ghost rider be able to locate the correct soul? He has 6,000 of em in there, and he can use each of those souls for a 1:1 duplicate of himself. I dont know enough about ghost rider but from what I know of spawn it doesn't look good for him. Another point is that spawn has a penance stare but those sins physically materialize and beat the ever loving shit out of you, or a much much more lethal version, so if Johnny has any sins that weigh him down at all, he is not in the best position

I kinda feel like that’s a oversimplified way of looking at it reality warping and writing is just an ability, the cosmic cube and infinity gauntlet can practically do the same thing. Mephisto while technically being marvels devil has been defeated by lesser characters. I know ghost rider(zarathos) is technically an angel but until that angel can overthrow god himself (TOAA) I don’t see ghost rider winning this.

The Ghost Rider is the embodiment of penance and punishment. It's similar to other primordial aspects, an example being Death. The Ghost Rider can't be stopped, it can't be reasoned with, and it can't be avoided. It's the divine version of the Terminator. If you deserve to be punished, it will find you. And it doesn't matter *who* you are, judgement and proper penance will be enacted. The only way to beat the Ghost Rider is to be innocent. Or in characters like Deadpool's case, simply feel no guilt for what you've done.

A common misconception about the penance stare is that you have to feel guilt for the effect to work this is not true the penance state is a multi purpose tool that’s not necessary to be fatal he didn’t wanna kill the punisher cuz in a few comics later ot works just fine on him and it doesn’t kill Deadpool cuz he wanted to show wade the error of his ways and had a little heart to heart moment with him (punisher might’ve also had divine protection if I’m remembering right)
People tend to forget that Ghost Rider comes a blessing by Mifisto, who in his own right is an extremely powerful reality warping demon. Taking his power and weilding it after stomping his is a win. On top of that, if your someone who can feel regret, then it's all over thanks to the penance stare.
Ghost Rider is essentially capable of anything in the universe, it's just not handed to him immediately, he has to travel, he has to kill, he has to destroy, break reality, everything to gain a certain power which is what I love about him, he's very powerful but he's got more powers he could go for with his said powers

@@kabukicho3009 I know the character spawn and there are characters in Marvel who have the powers of omnipotence and even then Ghost Rider has beaten them on several occasions also the Penance stare would be able to kill spawn because first of all a lot of inconsistent writing has happened with both spawn and Ghost Rider originally with Ghost Rider how the Penance stare work all the evil you've ever committed and all the pain you brought on to people would basically be Amplified and then cast it back at you you wouldn't die you would lose control of your body and your soul would be forever trapped in a never-ending cycle of punishment and torture

The penance stare doesn't require regret since it punishes you for crimes regardless of how its victim feels. Thanos tried to pull that on Cosmic Ghost Rider and he still got erased.
That wasn't the penance stare. Gr even says to thanos "did i say anything about a stare" , "penance requires pain" gr uses hellfire/penancefire to burn thanos along with his soul.

I believe the reason ghost rider is so strong, is because of his previous life as an arch angel zarathos being the embodiment of justice, he can fight on par with mephisto due to the fact he has similar heritage and divinity.

Also, GR is WAY quicker to the trigger than Spawn and Spawn using powers like that drains his soul because of his deal. That weakness is removed with Divine Spawn, but the power, speed, and willingness gap is WAY too big for Spawn to do jack shit.

Ghost rider is basically just the cosmic equivalent of a vibe check, you can't dodge it, only pass or fail.
I don't feel like Mephisto is a good indicator since he seems to only really use his powers for others but with the obvious "Monkey's Paw" effect, and even the Pandemonium Cube wasn't perfect.
I think Spawn has the Win here because, even without his Divine powers, all of Ghost Riders powers are fueled by hell itself and would probably just end up refueling Spawn power meter.

I would say Spawn, because in divine he actually held God and Satan back in a 1v2, plus his magic is so much more than that. I'd also like to point out that even in normal spawn, when he met an angel he accidentally warped reality to send her to hell so reality bending and warping, and only required help to seal off heaven and hell because he didn't know how, but he did know how to create another dimension as well as reforming the entire universe without even stressing. It'd be way too close of a fight but spawn would most likely pull out on top

He himself proclaimed that he would've been locked into an endless battle against God and Satan tag team, which implies in a 1v1 he would at the bare minimum be able to out last them stamina wise, and high balling would be able to beat one at a time. Meaning a Mephisto level threat would be basically nothing considering Spawn was able to destroy and recreate the entire universe easily. And a main point here was the penance stare, but would ghost rider be able to locate the correct soul? He has 6,000 of em in there, and he can use each of those souls for a 1:1 duplicate of himself. I dont know enough about ghost rider but from what I know of spawn it doesn't look good for him.
Another point is that spawn has a penance stare but those sins physically materialize and beat the ever loving shit out of you, or a much much more lethal version, so if Johnny has any sins that weigh him down at all, he is not in the best position

I kinda feel like that’s a oversimplified way of looking at it reality warping and writing is just an ability, the cosmic cube and infinity gauntlet can practically do the same thing. Also multiple x men an just other super heroes like dr Manhattan can reality. Also spawn does have his own version of the penance stare too and has banished both god and the devil. Mephisto while technically being marvels devil has been defeated by lesser characters. I know ghost rider(zarathos) is technically an angel but until that angel can overthrow god himself (TOAA) I don’t see ghost rider winning this.

GR lost to Hela who is a low tier necromancer. She has control of dead corpses and was able to completely one shot Cosmic Ghost Rider.
Spawn has complete control over all souls, His suit literally feeds on souls (he's got something like 6,000ish in it right now) meaning it could for all intent and purposes just EAT the spirit of Vengeance straight out of Johnny Blaze or Frank Castle.
The big kicker? Spawn could freeze all of time while doing this to Ghost Rider and without the infinity stones Ghost Rider would just have to sit there and take it. Time frozen, your soul being consumed into the suit, any and all strengths or defenses you thought you had were just erased by Spawns ability to alter reality. Any Angels in you you thought were backing you up? Guess who gives them orders now? That's right. The guy who killed God and Satan in a single afternoon.
This was hands down a fanboy trying to force his shit opinion on you. Look up ANY of Ghost Riders defeats and then go look at any of Spawns. (Up for debate on that power equivilent, but either way we are talking about 4 entities that have the means to bypass all creations boundaries to a degree that Al Simmons can never achieve on his own that Ghost Rider compares to passively.)

The Ghost Rider is the embodiment of penance and punishment. It's similar to other primordial aspects, an example being Death. The Ghost Rider can't be stopped, it can't be reasoned with, and it can't be avoided. It's the divine version of the Terminator. If you deserve to be punished, it will find you. And it doesn't matter *who* you are, judgement and proper penance will be enacted.
The only way to beat the Ghost Rider is to be innocent. Or in characters like Deadpool's case, simply feel no guilt for what you've done.

A common misconception about the penance stare is that you have to feel guilt for the effect to work this is not true the penance state is a multi purpose tool that’s not necessary to be fatal he didn’t wanna kill the punisher cuz in a few comics later ot works just fine on him and it doesn’t kill Deadpool cuz he wanted to show wade the error of his ways and had a little heart to heart moment with him (punisher might’ve also had divine protection if I’m remembering right)
People tend to forget that Ghost Rider comes a blessing by Mifisto, who in his own right is an extremely powerful reality warping demon. Taking his power and weilding it after stomping his is a win.
On top of that, if your someone who can feel regret, then it's all over thanks to the penance stare.
Gr's power dosen't come from mifisto, mifisto traped the angel of vengeance and needed to limit its powers so put it in a mortal host.
