- Why Omni-Man VS Superman Isn't Fair. Within fiction, there are countless characters that are in someway inspired by Superman, the man of steel within DC Comics. One such character is Omni-Man, AKA Nolan Grayson from Image Comics' Invincible, with its second season wrapping up later this month. But when it comes to a vs battle, who would come out on top? The mustached planet conqueror or the justice-seeking man of tomorrow? Find out as I go over each character's feats and accolades to decipher who would really win!

Not even the core, just its corona. They fight in the corona and on the surface and it almost kills both. Superman's durability is basically infinite.

It's one of the reasons I don't like Superman. His OPness loses its fun when he's just as OP as higher tiers & is in the main story unlike those that are used sparingly. That said, I won't let my bias change the outcome where Superman would win, like against Goku.
me I just don't like an idea that every remake or a story that's not cannon. keep giving a character even more power with every next story or remake. like pick a power scale and stick with it. like how people with "what if goku" fan stories they would give him mixer of powers or hacks as in "born with god ki". but on top of that keep repeating the same damn events from cannon story. no real creativity as in add a new character or add other universes that can rival others or just give him an actual new form. than you also have superman every new story or remake he just keeps getting more and more power and a few of him are just broken. as if they show how powerful animal, cartoon and game characters are getting. so they give superman even more power to make sure no other character can beat him. stuff like this makes me want to stop looking them up. I don't dislike the characters. I dislike people that keep giving them more power to the point no other character can match up anymore. ruins the fun of vs fights

Aren't those What If Goku stories about the main timeline, but w/ different elements? I feel like that's the main point to see how different the story would be W/ what canon elements are in there. If they wanted to make an AU w/ new forms/characters/powers then it would be more of an AU than a 'proper' what-if. I do get what you're saying & want something more original, but you might want to look for more things leaning into the AU angle & not the what-if angle.

He had to show it for it to be valid. If someone make a well written characters that scale far above Superman and say they beat Superman easily, that's fine. But saying without showing doesn't really hold much weight.
The only way I can imagine Robert's claim being true is if he's not comparing Omniman to Comics Superman, but to Henry Cavill Superman, who is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker than comic superman in terms of feats.

It doesn't matter what he thinks, if invincible or Omniman could beat Superman the proof would be in the story itself
The only case I woumd argue against death of the author is if they were talking about 2 characters they created. Gor example if kirkman said end of invincible mark could take on all the other vimtrumites combined, I'll take his word. But he isn't the author of superman, so as far as superman is concerned, his takes are as valid as any random dude's take. If he really wanted omni man to be stronger than superman then he should've written it into the story
Kirkman's statements now are one of the BEST examples of death of the author and I'm actually pretty glad.

Everybody and their great ancestors know that All Kryptonians get their powers from the Sun and the longer they're exposed to it, the more powerful they get. Ever heard of Superman Prime 1million? Superman out-lived all his friends, family and loved ones and protected the Earth until everything was fine and felt he had no purpose anymore and flew around the whole universe to try n find people to help. He didn't find anything so he flew all the way back to Earth (which was still fine) and was very tired so he flew into the Core of the Sun and took a nap for 15,000 years and then woke up a GOD. He unlocked the ability to give other people super powers and flew back to Earth and essentially turned normal people into the new version of the Justice League and left to do some interdimensional traveling. In the Invincible comics, Invincible fought Thragg for the survival of others and knew all Viltrumites are weakened by super intense heat so he fought against Thragg on the Surface of the Sun for a long time and over time they both started to burn themselves alive but Mark just barely killed Thragg and nearly died too but got saved and recovered in a few months. Viltrumites are born mad naturally strong and powerful with a bunch of abilities but that's it. Kryptonians are born powerful too but need the Sun to unlock all their powers and once they do, they're pretty much unstoppable and the longer they are under/near the Sun, the more powerful they become. That's why whenever Superman gets really hurt in a fight, he flies to the Sun for a few seconds to heal.

@@Humble421 I literally just explained that Kryptonians are more powerful than Viltrumites and how Kryptonians biggest buff that gives them their powers, is one of Viltrumites biggest weaknesses. Kryptonians are born with super OP abilities that get unlocked under a yellow Sun and get more powerful the longer they're exposed to a yellow Sun. Viltrumites only have a few abilities and are very powerful but that's it. Viltrumites cant compete with Kryptonians and people keep trying to Scale Omni-Man to the same level as Superman when we all know that's impossible. Superman 1 shots the Invincible verse.
Still better then people saying Homelander beats Superman, MUI Goku and Omni-Man

I said it’s perfectly fine with Kirkman doing what he does (Trolling) but at the same time it doesn’t change the fact it comes off as childish and rather petty for an author who works in the industry to do so. It’s the same thing when George R.R Martin disses Harry Potter or Lord of the rings. It’s a common level of respect to your competition and those that came before you. Tolkien hated dune but it was only found out afterwards in his private letters because he told C.S Lewis or someone else that it was disrespectful or childish for another author to badmouth something and even than they are just insulting their competition not giving out actual criticism.

People tend to associated DC and Marvel characters with their MUCH weaker versions usually displayed in live action or animated shows/movies. Their power in the comics is lesser known to the general audience in comparison.
Maybe because they look like each and have similar powers. That’s also why people pit Omni Man against Homelander despite the fact it’s not even a close fight

Norse demons and a Norse god (post crisis fought marvel’s Thor and beat him canonically, marvel’s Thor has been shown to be comparable to marvel’s Hercules in skill)
1000 years in Valhalla fighting alongside Wondy, DC Thor and the Asgardian army. Thor was badly wounded and on his deathbed, bequeathed Mjolnir to Kal, not Wonder Woman, which was a surprise. Kal led the Asgardian army for over 400 years after Thor's death and got the final victory that saw the Asgardian gods restored and Supes and Wondy got sent back to mere seconds after they left, so they still had that 1,000 years of experience and kept it to themselves until Wondy accidentally let it slip to Lois.

I am no power scale allergist but I think the only version of Superman Omni-man can beat is early golden age. where he can only leap tall buildings in a single bound he’s faster than the speeding bullet, and more powerful then a local motive. Maybe he could beat Bruce Tim’s Superman but that’s a strong maybe. and to be fair to Robert Kirkman I think he’s just trolling when he says Omni-man can easily beat Superman.
One could make an argument of a universal lifting omni man against supreme, but that still does not cut it, even for new 52 superman I believe, but I think the crossover is not canon.

Honestly if done right a SuperBoy Prime could be a very fun character in a movie in today’s age. Basically think of a self aware character who at this point sees the issues in modern superheroes and their movies ether being to edgy or too deconstructive while at the same time still being a villain but fun enough to watch for the viewers.

@@ADAJ342If we're going off of the way they say Saitamas Powers worked in the Garo fight, not only does he not have an upper limit he seems to get not just stronger than, but significantly stronger than anything he fights so that he always maintains an oppressive strength compared to them. This combined with him having no diffed a gamma ray burst (which I believe is the strongest type of either explosion or supernova in the universe) with minimal effort, this fight would probably just end with infinite combat as both sides of this equation are the definition of " Naw, I'd Win". (unless Superman hit him with an attack that he would not be able to survive at the very start of the fight giving him no time to adapt and grow, but that would mean essentially tossing out a punch that could rip a hole in space off-rip)

As much as i like Kirkman, Omniman was shown already to be weaker in terms of durability to Superman.
Kirkman said this but he most likely isn't taking the entirety of what Superman has been shown to be able to do into account.

Plot twist: Invincible writer just forgot to specify DCEU Superman
The funny thing is that people were even saying that Snyder's superman was too overpowered and it's true even the dceu superman would still wreck Nolan
Kirkman should have said JL/JLU/Superman: The Animated Series Superman or even Fleischer Superman, because every other well known Superman would wreck Nolan. Even DCEU Superman was a casual moon buster. ZSnyder said that Krypton's moon was shattered by original Doomsday and that Steppenwolf encountered and fought Doomsday to a draw. Supes wrecked Steppenwolf without effort so moon busting would be nothing to him. The guy fought against Krypton's gravity while breathing Kryptonian atmosphere and came out victorious.
He probably was referring to a more specific incarnation of Superman.
Superman is such a contrived and overly-written character, he is too abstract to compare to a character like Omni Man. It’s too cringe how Superman nerds are taking this so seriously. Superman has lost fights to weaker villains like Metallo but then has ridiculous feats that will sound like “punching a hole in the fabric of the universe” or “flew so fast he broke time” or becoming some kind of godlike entity and becoming X powerful etc. It isn’t even fair comparison to make such a comparison because Omni Man has no such source material. Superman is a completely bullshit character. Which is why he has been rewritten so many times. The same can be said about nearly every popular Marvel and DC character. Doctor Strange also springs to mind here

I don't like Superman because his crazy powers. I like Superman because he represents caring, love, compassion, strength, and hope. The most potent superman moments are not his fights. They're the moments when he rescues a cat from a tree. When he talks a goth teenager down from jumping off a skyscraper. He spent an entire night, hovering beside another potential jumper. He promised he wasn't going anywhere, and he didn't. That's Superman. People constantly seem to say this character or that character can beat Superman. That isn't the point of Superman. It never was.

I think the coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb is closer because you can at least argue it’s a draw or a win for the baby. A draw if you say it’s just the bomb itself so it can’t activate without outside influence. A win for the baby if it’s a death battle in which case the baby just wins by default lol
Dimensional tiering is actually pretty simple. An infinite amount of 1 dimensional space makes up 2 dimensional space, an infinite amount of 2 dimensional space makes up 3 dimensions space, and an infinite amount of 3 dimensional space makes up 4 dimensional space. So, if someone is infinitely 3 dimensionally powerful, they will still be dwarfed by a powerful 4th dimensional being, and a 4th dimensional being is dwarfed by a 5th, and a 5th by a 6th. So the higher dimensions you are compared to the opponent, the more infinitely powerful you are compared to them

It doesn’t have anything to do with dimensional tiering, just resistances to hax if he’s more powerful than his opponent)
Even if all the remaining Viltrumites, including Thragg teamed up on superman, they still wouldn't stop him. He'd just find them somewhat annoying

Superman's source of power is literally stars. In the comics, Viltrumites one big weakness is immense heat, such as (guess what) a star.
Omni-Man can shatter the moon twice over and move fast enough to destroy planets in seconds. Yet his strength and speed are still based on the dimension that is built on laws of physics. Because of that, he or Invincible will never be as strong or as fast as Superman can be.

I think DCAU Superman might lose, but that's only because most characters were nerfed to make their feats more comprehensible and less ridiculous. It also made it less stupid to have Batman as a field member if other Justice League characters weren't at the level of casually obliterating star systems.

Some missed feats of Superman’s incomprehensible might:
- He can destroy planets in one punch using the infinite mass punch technique
- He once flew so fast he ‘broke the bonds if infinity’
- He can’t be erased from existence due to him being a cosmic component of the metaverse
- Pulled hundreds of planets to a new galaxy
- His heat vision was used as 1/5 the power of a Big Bang
- His arctic breathe is cold enough to freeze ghosts (somehow)
- He once survived the Big Bang
- The Anti-monitor once blasted him with all the energy of the antimatter universe
- He defeated the World Forger (who is 6th dimensional and dwarfs Mr Mxyzptlk in power) in one punch simultaneously shattering a multiverse
It doesn't really scale for Viltrumites on the Marvel side of things either. I mean, Hyperion is basically Marvel Superman, and he survived an Incursion. Blue Marvel and Sentry are pretty broken most times, Hulk can already destroy a planet just by fighting someone on it, and Thor has slowly been getting more terrifying as time goes on.
In newer comics, Bruce/Hulk is the avatar of destruction for The One Above All. Viltrumites don't hold a candle light to DC or Marvel characters. 😅
Omniman vs Superman is no contest mostly because Superman I knew and love would beat omniman in two seconds and plus in rebirth Superman fought against general zod and Superman revenge squad while blind and was a badass in my opinion.

Casually flying inside of cosmic blackholes or punching an actual cosmic black hole into existence which he did when he was infected with the doomsday virus.

@@mel-el5862 I just don’t find that stuff as consistent. Like I’ve read these comics and these feats are very spread out. Like for example. New 52 fighting post crisis Superman. Yeah it’s impressive but he was gonna get knocked out by an attack that was like planet or star level from what I remember. And this was stated by the narrator on page. If I could remember the exact comic that it was from I’d give it to you. It was the hawk guy in the justice league(don’t really remember his name) or one of his people. This would also be consistent with other showings of his power. I think there’s higher metas for new 52 Superman. You could probably get him to maybe hyperversal if you really want to. but those metas don’t really appeal to me that much in consistency and time span. But to be fair literally every Superman is like that and almost any other dc character to be honest. Batman being the most infamous with his Spector feat and him sometimes hurting darkseid in the comics. You can make the argument of it being consistent but it makes huge contradictions narratively but I can understand the scaling of it despite not really agreeing with it

Omniman and invincible have no feats that compare to supermans, Kirkman is capping hard. especially near the end of invincible, all mark does is get beat up a whole bunch, and then he cries every single chapter. mark and nolan are really no where near as powerful as superman, especially because viltumites have a weakness to sound thats extremely exploitable. I think even batman could take mark out by exploiting marks weakness.

The one thing I really dislike about these vs matches is that characters like superman always have some multi super mega omniverse feat that people love to throw in there. That's like saying the Joker can beat **Random OP Character** cuz in this one comic he was a reality warper like no, the joker is literally just a human dude. You are right to a certain extent, but you are wrong to a certain extent. Superman is one who keeps developing his powers, especially because his power depends on the sun (He's almost like an exaggerated solar battery). So if he lives under a red sun, he's not actually stronger than a normal human. So to pit him against an opponent at this stage would be extremely unfair. Likewise, it is unfair to pit him against an opponent when he has been charged by the sun for thousands of years (at this stage he is godlike). In fact, comparing Superman to any opponent is silly. Because he is a character who is as weak or as strong as the story needs him to be. Therefore, that the good wins. In a fight against Superman, the question would actually be which side he is on. If he's on the good side right now, he'll win in the end (he's slightly stronger at that moment, so the story stays interesting until the end). When he's on the Evil Side, he's slightly weaker (as well, so the Good Side wins in the end).

I think one of the key things to take consideration whenever we’re doing the power scaling argument, is that for one, Superman is a character that was created so many years ago, the definitive limits of his power are very variably defined. I feel like Omni man in the race of Viltrimites are created as the version of the Kryptonians that are just nuts with their strength, and the culling of their race to leave only the strongest of the strongest viltrimites left over like Nolan being like one the most sharpened supermen of the Invincible Universe.
I love seeing Superman getting some respect on his name.

The only character from the Invincible series that would be even possibly able to fight and beat superman would be Atom Eve as she can literally change atoms and/or create whatever she can think. If she somehow learned about Supermans weakness to Kryptonite, it would be easy. But now the question is, how would she even get that info. The other thing she could do is "possibly" manipulate Supermans dna and change it to human. She can literally do this, its stated in the show and the comics. The question is, does she know how to?
Spawn is also a very interesting one. Divine Spawn could possibly take on a "version" of superman but now what versions exactly are the questions i dont have answers to.

2. Can Batman be able to land a few hits on wammu, esidisi or kars?
