    Funny thing is that in the UK generally the Sonax is cheaper than the Meguiars. Sonax under £13 sometimes around £8 on offer, and the Meguiars £22. I therefore use the Sonax and love it.

    Since you need to re-tape the panel anyways, why not tape off a 3rd smaller section and polish it then just leave it as a control. That way you have a base to go off of to eliminate some of the guess work and uncertainty as to if a product is fully stripped or not.

  • @Sinisterg60

    I've been using Fast Finish on both my families daily drivers since it came out. It always looked ok and held up well. 2 weeks ago I did the full deal, strip wash, chemical decontamination, clay bar, one step correction, paint prep and then did fast finish and holy crap does it look phenomenal! I'll stick with it. I see no reason to invest in ceramic coatings on an 11 and 7 year old car, so fast finish does just perfect for me.

      Hi there, how often do you reapply and does it attract dirt? I'm a big fan of the Japanese Fusso Coat. It takes 30 min to apply but lasts 6 months at least. Car is super easy to clean as FC creates a Teflon-like layer on the paint. I'm thinking of using UFF on wheels. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    • @Sinisterg60
      @Sinisterg60 Před 5 lety +2

      @@JWL-UK I don't foresee UFF lasting super long on weeks due to bigger temperature. You'd have to apply quite frequently on wheels. As for me I usually reapply every other month after a strip wash. My weekly maintenance wash consists of griots surface foaming wash, rinse, then foamed with poly gloss, rinsed, then dried with my 700cfm leaf blower. I'm also considering using jescar power lock plus topped with UFF after next strip wash.

    Fast finish is such a good product. I mean, you can put a durable layer of protection on a car in mere minutes. There is an expensive product called QP ON 2.0. If you can get your hands on it, it would be cool to see the comparison of that to fast finish. Great vid and great products.

    • @bryanburz2851

    • @Espinal_424
      @Espinal_424 Před 5 lety

      QP 2.0 is a different product then the Ultimate Fast finish so the comparison wouldn't be fair. QP gives the care sorta like a ceramic coated feel and properties and easier to apply VS Ultimate fast finish which in my opinion is awesome but wont leave the care feeling nearly as good as the QP

  • @andygold
    @andygold Před 4 lety +1

    I'd be curious as to how long each product lasts in a side by side comparison on the same vehicle. I've not used FF yet, but have used PNS for a few years now. With the PNS, I typically get between 6 and 9 months durability on a garaged daily driver. And, that's through a northern NY winter. Thing is, it will stick, even if you DO NOT do a prep. Another pretty durable sealant is Finish Kare FK1000 (BWM 101) High Temp Paste Wax. It's actually a synthetic sealant, and not a Wax. I get a good 6 months durability, and one can of the stuff for less than $20 will probably last most people their entire life...the stuff goes on incredibly thin!!!! (And should be applied extremely thin, otherwise it can be difficult to remove).

      Use a PH-neutral soap like Meguiar's Gold Class car wash. You can also use Meguiar's Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax spray, but as with all waterless sprays there is some risk of scratching the paint.
      Your best bet would be to use a high-PH soap like Purple Power: "Heavy-Duty Vehicle and Boat Wash" (which will strip away any road film as well as the Ultimate Fast Finish), and then just reapply Ultimate Fast Finish since it has a quick and easy application.

    Hi Jimbo. I am looking for a spray product that creates excellent shine, repels water and dirt, is easy to apply, and lasts several months on the body. I was researching and there are products that are Ceramic Sealants such as the MOTHERS CMX, the MEGUIARIS CERAMIC WAX, JAX WAX CERAMIC WAX, NOVA LUSTER, etc. These incorporate some ceramic such as Silicon or Titanium or both. And there are other waxes with chemical, synthetic or Polymera bases that give the same results as: SONAX POLYMER NET SHIEL, TURTLE WAX ICE SEAL N SHINE, NOVA JET, MOTHER WATHERLESS AN WAX, SONAX SHINE DETAILER, etc. Here are some like the Turtle Wax, or the Jax Wax that have organic ones like Carnauba that I don't know if they improve the finish or make it more resistant, but I am in doubt that it really is better, I know that these glitters are artificial since they are not Shines directly what is obtained by polishing the lacquer of the vehicle, but increasing the brightness that is left to the OEM lacquer of the vehicle, I mean it is better, a ceramic-based product? chemical base? polymera base? synthetic base? organic and inorganic base? There are so many that I don't know which one is better, which one protects instead of damaging the OEM paint. I personally have the SONAX POLYMER NET SHIEL, I also have the WATHERLESS MOTHERS, and I have the PREMIUM CARE CARNAUBA WAX SONAX wax that is in paste, I don't really know if the SONAX POLYMERO will be better or worse than the aforementioned products, which I could recommend taking into account that I do not want to be applying something at all times, I want to keep my car clean and avoid washing, I do not use high-performance ceramics because there are no trusted professionals, I could do it but I do not have time, so I prefer Something easy and durable. I hope not to overwhelm you and give me a good recommendation. I was watching a lot of your videos, although I do not speak Spanish of all that I liked the most is the TURTLE WAX, but it is not a ceramic product and that gives me the impression that it will not last long on my painting. Your comments thanks from PERU.

      I saw a video by another detailer in Texas, he applied 34 different sealants and waxes to a hood and left it outside 24/7 for 8 months (washing it once a month) and monitored the fail times. Meguiar's Ultimate Fast FInish lasted 3 months with one application. czcams.com/video/cTjO8ZotlN0/video.html

      Yeah it's confusing. Supposed to put sealants on first, but then again the name is fast "finish". Could either mean you're done fast or it's a fast way to finish off your layers of protection.
      Personally I put it first if using carnauba so if I bakes away in the sun the fast finish is still there. But who knows.

    Jimbo, is the fast finish better than a paste wax? what would be the pros or cons?, and lastly would you charge the same price to do a wax job whether you're doing a paste wax or UFF, or do you charge more for one vs the other?

    • @autodetailingpodcast
      @autodetailingpodcast  Před 5 lety

      I usually charge more for pate wax because it’s more labor then fast finish. I only use paste wax on show cars for extra gloss. It doesn’t offer much protection

    • @2010stoof
      @2010stoof Před 5 lety

      I've had good results with the turtle wax ice paste "wax". Outside in elements 24/7, wash every week or two or three depending on life. Going on 4 months now.
      Prep is very important. If the surface isn't prepped, even the strongest wax or coating won't last as long as intended.

      This is why I actually like to use sonax PNS as a base and megs UFF as the topper. Saves money if you're topping up after maintenence washes with meg's as well.
      I also think Sonax PNS adds more depth and gloss than UFF, but UFF is slicker and easier to apply. Hence another reason why I use them that way.
      A lot of people swear by Jescar Powerlock topped with Collinite 845, but those take immensely longer to apply. They do provide a warmer look I would say. But with the 4 hour cure time with Powerlock it's not as realistic for mobile detailers and weekend warriors working in driveways.

    • @2010stoof
      @2010stoof Před 5 lety

      @@SecretSauceyjuice I agree about the mobile thing. With that combo, you need to do powerlock, then let sit for minimum of 3 hours after wipe off, then collinite, then wait 8-12 hours then 2nd collinite. (For perfect results as intended)
      And the next day you may have to wash if oil surface and haze.
      It sounds nuts writing it out, but I love the combo. The oils thing only happened to me when I first started using it and used too much. Crazy how little collinite goes such a long way.
      But for a home gamer on your own car it's a great combo.
      I'm going to be trying powerlock with other toppers when the mitten thaws this spring but so far it's the best combo I've found.
      For your business do the best you can while still giving the customer the best with what you have to work with. I'm sure they'll be happy :-)

      AlwAys sealant first. Then top of with wax of your choice.

    • @2010stoof
      @2010stoof Před 5 lety

      You can go either way, but the sealant bonds better to clear coat. Usually want the strongest thing down first. If it's a carnauba wax then definitely sealant first. If it's a synthetic wax (pretty much also a sealant) then, for me, the one that I like the water behavior most goes on top. I.E. turtle wax ice paste (people hate on this stuff) I put on top because it is so hydrophobic. But say chemical guys butter wet wax or another carnauba I put on top because the fast finish has stronger bond with the clear and when the carnauba wears away/bakes away in sun, the fast finish is still there.
      If you like sheeting behavior of fast finish, you can put a synthetic "wax" on first, let it bond for 3-12 hours after wipe off (whatever directions say) then fast finish on top.
