  • Hassar or Armour catfish is a delicacy across the regions of Guyana. This fish is extremely popular, it was displayed on the 1969 5 cent stamp, designed by Richard G. Barrett.
    Hassa Curry
    4 lbs Hassar
    6 tsp garam masala
    4 tsp curry powder
    20 clove garlic
    2 medium onions
    3 medium tomatoes
    4 drumsticks (Sigan)
    Okra optional
    ½ can (200ml) coconut milk
    Wiri Wiri pepper
    Salt
    oil

    What is the difference between massala and curry powder?

      Garam masala is a different blend of spices. Curry powder is mostly coriander and turmeric. For meat, I used 2 tsp masala to 1 tsp curry powder for fish curry the opposite. ☺️

      It's to burn out the smelly water. This hassan was frozen. It actually gives the curry a less fishy taste...😊😊
