I recently went to a temporary samurai showing in a museum, the collection was from the Mueller couple from Dallas their collection is one of the biggest private collections. In the museum I had the chance to put on a hand made samurai armour specially made for guests to try on and it was so cool to wear it and it looked totally badass.
😎😎😎
@@LetsaskShogo very good video man, the armour i tried on didn’t look as fancy as these ones but it was a fun experience nonetheles👍😄
That place looks incredible!
Too bad they do not have a section discussing the construction of purpose of the various armor pieces. It could be like a mini museum with a small token admission price. I suspect hat it would draw more people and once they know more about the armor, they will want to try them on.
Agreed. Like explaining how Shogo's first set armor that he wore was what was called an o-yoroi and was constructed of lots small plates laced together and had big shoulder armor (side?) to act as shields. Then in later periods the o-yoroi was replaced by different armors, as shown by the second suit Shiogo wor and the one that Kazu wor both times, that were less boxy and tended to have cuirassses made from far fewer plates, often just a breast and back plate.
This Trailer was so good I was constantly hitting the play/pause button to take in all the details of these beautiful sets of armour.
Same! Loved it and always lived the culture! Also I wanna try them out so bad 😖
@@Ruisu89401 Me too!
@@Ruisu89401 In early 2020 I went to Tozando in Kyoto where you could try on one of their sets of armour. It inspired me to make or buy pieces of armour until I had put together a suit of my own armour that I can use for either Samurai or Ashigaru impressions. Obviously I wear a cotton ski mask and a menpo to hide my european facial features when I wear the armour at public events.
I normally buy katanas to decorate my House but man! I'm so tempted to buy a samurai armor, imagine someone coming to you're house and see a samurai armor
tozandoshop.com/collections/yoroi-armor/yoroi+armor+kabuto+samurai+bushido
My recommended company and website where you can buy the samurai armor! What’s great about their armor is that you can actually put it on yourself😎
@@LetsaskShogo that's why I love you shogo and you're channel kept it like that and you will reach the million soon
You'll need to call an ambulance.
My favorite are definitely Takeda Shingen and Date Masamune. Takeda Shingen armor is iconic because of his fur helmet. Takeda clan was my first to play in Shogun 2 Total war game. I like him from this moment. Date Masamune looks badass too. The black / dark blue armor with that "half moon" datemono looks very cool. I like that too.
The first time I played Shogun 2 I remember picking the Date clan as they were kinda isolated to the north so would be easier to learn the game with that clan due to the AI having difficulties flanking the Date clan through geographic perks of the clan. But having watched, read and researched more about the Samurai culture/history and more specifically the Sengoku Jidai, I must say that Date Masamune is a badass Daimyo/Samurai. If I ever go Japan, I'll definitely visit this place just to put on his armour.
I went to the place to dress up as Date Masamune; it was a blast of a lifetime. The suit was heavy, of course, but it was worth it.
I'm definitely going there again, when I have the opportunity. Maybe I should bring a friend or two as well.
I'm impressed with the different armor. Thank you for showing us this part of your culture.
Thank you so much for supporting us Gary😊
As a history student, this is one of my dreams.
Yukimura’s armour was the coolest looking in my opinion.
A samurai is one who masters the blade as it is an extension of him self the blade and samurai are one.....
These are amazing! You both looked so epic and authentic!
That looks soo cool I need to experience that next time I'm in Kyoto, that and Kyoto tachibana.
This is looking soooo good! i have a question, why there's a Tsuba as an eyepatch? will be great to see a video about only tsubas :D
Masamune Date is said to have had an eyepatch made from a tsuba after losing an eye to smallpox.
@@mikotagayuna8494 Yet he refused to be painted with the lost eye. All pictures show hin "complete".
@@mikotagayuna8494 I heard he got shot with an arrow
@@leonrussell9607 was masamune the reincarnation of kakouton/Xia Hou Dun OR SOMETHING?!?!?!
@@shanedoesyoutube8001 No, there's many fictive legends about Date Masamune's lost eye that was written in later centuries. Some includes, yes, "Borrowing" the Xiahou Dun story.
I just love all your videos! Everything you do is so enjoyable 😊
For me, seeing what is worn under the armor and how it goes together is the best part.
Fan boying over these armorsets so hard.
This was a real treat to see. Awesome seeing something like this.
One-Eyed Kazu-dono. Overpower character
This place and experience is so professional, talented and fun! I’m sure it costs a fortune, but so worth it I’m sure. Thank you for doing this for us 👏🏼👏🏼
Beautiful armour! I am looking forward to visiting Kyoto already! ❤️
I love the maru-dô from kamakura-jidai the most. But Takeda Shingen's armour (especially with the kabuto) is SO impressive.
How awesome! That must have been so much fun!
Thank you for this! I am actually visiting Japan in May and this will go excellently with my planned trip to Kyoto!
Master Shogo once again makes the best content I’ve ever seen 🙏
Grande popolo indipendente da nessuno legato al passato ma molto innovativo moderno come pochi vi adoro e siete x me come amici come popolo Giapponese ai 🐸🐞🦨
Beautiful pieces of armor 👍 The red one worn by Kazu was the most beautiful to me. It really must have been a great experience. Well made, Shogo.
Sanada Yukimura's armor. His suit is definitely iconic, along with Date Masamune's(The first one that Kazu wore).
I absolutely LOVED this video!! Now I really need to travel to Kyoto!! I got really dazzled as I watched you guys simply become these warlords! And you really became awesome!! Both of you changed completely into these powerful men! I admire lord Nobunaga, but Lord Shingen’s armour is really impressive! Sensei Shogo just seemed to “fit” in it! Yet, when I go to this place, I must try Lord Masamune’s armour!! The legendary crescent over the dark armour made such a mythical aura! This was really enthralling! I would like to thank you very much Sensei, for showing this on your channel! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Durag Shogo with the waves and oda armor... Truly the king the rule all kinds kings
They are gorgeous! I especially love the fluffy helmet Shingen has, it's so iconic. Mitsunari also had this type :D
Love it!!!! The manufacturer of that armor, Marutake, made the armor for the movies Ran and Heaven and Earth. They did a fabulous job; very realistic looking. I love that Momonari style kabuto you wore with the Oda Nobunaga armor. That style is growing on me instead of the traditional hari-bachi. Very nice video, I only wish it could have been twice as long for twice the fun!
You both looked amazingly awesome!!!
My favorite warlord is Uesugi Kenshin, the famed rival of Shingen.
Battousai!!!
Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin should have become allies, look at what Shingen did to Ieyasu as Mikatagahara, sadly Shingen was dying from most likely TB, modern medicines would have cured him, Shingen and Kenshin would meet each other 5 times at Kawanakajima in the space of 11 yrs, imagine if they had just had a couple of battles in the space of 3 yrs, that would have given Shingen a further 8 yrs, 8 yrs would have been plenty of time to take over the country..
I met a person who was directly related to Uesugi Kenshin and the family has their own museum. I would like to see their museum if possible. I also met someone who was related to Tokugawa family and they also have their own museum. My grandfather's family served Kaga han and lived with the former Maeda warlord in Tokyo over 110 years ago. I have seen a number of famous Japanese castles and many are very large.
Yes!!!! Date Masamune, Takeda Shingen, Oda Nobunaga and Sanada Yukimura's armor!
The hanging pelvic plates are called kusazuri
I loved the samurai pirate!
So wholesome you guys look like history geeks who are having so much fun
You both look so cool. When Japan opens up again to visitors from abroad I'll definitely visit Kouzu Shokai.
Japanese culture is just too cool & very detail oriented
That looks like so much fun!! Definitely something I’d love to do.
I love all your videos!
Hope you are doing well, Shogo and Family! ❤
Sanada Yukimura og Takeda Shingen, are my favourites.
Thanks for all the tips. Your videos are amazing. I hope one day I can visit all these places ^^!
I have fallen in love with this channel!!! I just found it a day ago and I’ve almost watched all the videos
🤩🤩🤩
This place looks like so much fun to check out!!!
Hello gentlemen, what a great way of spending an afternoon. The authentic samurai armor was beautiful and you guys looked great, very impressive in each set of armor you both put on. Sorry to say but you guys were regal samurai lords for a brief moment, but left as a pair of ordinary citizens again. Great video.
The armour truly is a work of art it must have took a long time to make. 👍💯
Date matsumune was definitly my favorite because of the shoulder protections and small united pieces
Date Masamune's suit is so simple, yet so iconic.
I saw videos similar to this before, and I was so inspired I attempted to make the basic components of samurai armor out of cardboard 😂 (didn't have the means to purchase a real one) it wasn't perfect but people recognised what I was trying to be😁👍🏼 U really do feel powerful wearing it😂
A must in the bucket list! soon! It's good to bump on your channel Shogo =)
The black suit slick as hell
Yet another thing for the bucket list.
Very Cool Video! I didn't know there are Firms who offer those kinds of Experiences! I'm Deffinetly trying that out on my Visit to Japan!
Its also Great they have an Option for Kids!
You both look so Great in them!
I like all the Armours!
FANTASTIC!
Im, a filipino but i really love the samurai and hope someday i wear that armor😁😁
Date Masamune's armour really looks awesome i think thats my favorite. I like Takeda Shingen's armour too its so majestic, I dont want to go to a battle on it. Thank you so much for sharing one of my bucket list when I go to Japan.
Watching the detail of the construction and how its put on, you can't help but marvel at the how the Japanese craftsmen can up with the design and details of how to create and construct such armor in such early times. The number of hours to construct everything with such detail and materials must have been awesome. I noticed the footwear and how tying the sandal to the foot was detailed to ensure that it stay on. Most people putting on shoes take it for granted on our footwear and how such designing something to protect one's foot for battle in natural terrain in all weather conditions is ignored. Mahalo for the video. Most impressive. I really have to credit the early warriors as, my first thought watching it, was how does one function during bathroom breaks. It must have been brutal for those samurai.
Menpo mask will make the armor look better
I like yellow one and eyepatch ☺️
Look very cool!!
Loved this vedio.I love japanese samurai and japanese culture.. from Kerala India.. God's own country , from the land of the mother of all Martial arts "Kalaripayattu" and Trissur Puram, Onam, Vallamkally, Kathakali, Teyyam and much more. my favourite place to visit is Japan ,it's always in my wishlist.. I want an itinerary suitable for this. Hopefully in coming year. I will visit Japan till then. Take care
wow,you guys look fantastic!
i love this episode! i hope one i can visit this place. cheers from Philippines!
Takeda Shingen armour that's very cool :D
The armor of date my personal favorite dokugan ryu
This is really neat. I remember going to Osaka castle and putting on a samurai helmet
Great to see the full video uploaded now. To put on samurai armour you have to be very good at tying knots, from helmet to sandals there are cords and ropes and fabric ties everywhere. I was hoping they had a II Naomasa armour in their collection but I haven't spotted it. How long did they let you wear each set of armour for?
This is so, but so cool, it would like a dream come true, to visit this place, ほんとにどうもありがとう ともだち Shogo.
Can't wait!
Weeeeee..que hermoso video me gustó..me encantó .es una maravilla.hadta yo misma me sentí.como si estuviese allí ..estoy emocionada.muchas gracias.amo la cultura .vestimenta japonesa..fué lo mejor que he visto
Samurai armor looks funky looking but yet so awesome, its hard to explain
AMAZING......
Thanks for thé video
Nice! Thanks
You could be an actor dude. You guys look so cool
THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING !!!!! MY GODDD THE DREAM :D
Shogo’s so striking in his armor!!!!
Perfect
My fav. was Date Masamune. Both of you gentleman looked like pure Samurai beast!! 💖😎😎
that date masamune one looks nuts
Awesome video Shogo, once the whole Covid situation is more controlled (and when Japan allow mexicans to enter your country again, of course) I'll be returning to Japan, and this place look really interesting for samurai and Japan's history fans.
Saludos desde México!!!
So cool
I love the armour of Date Masamune! Would really like to buy something similar one day. Having a real armour and weapon matching in my collection would be amazing!
Welp this is going on my bucket list
Very cool!
Yeeessss please make more videos like this
That is absolutely AWESOME! I wish you had made this video (as long as the other Kyoto hidden gems ones) back in 2017 when I came to Kyoto 😉
By the way, the beautiful armour design reminds me of those of an anime I used to watch when I was a kid "Ronin Warriors" ("Yoroiden Samurai Torūpā"). Does anyone else see this striking similarity too?
I like all armor, but my favorite is Oda Nobunaga's.
I have enjoyed your channel so much! Never having the funds to travel. Your glimpses of Japan are so insightful.
I am aware you spent years in the U.S. That is why I was surprised to hear you refer to part of your foot as the thumb. In English we call it toes, the largest being the big toe.
Keep up your studies. You are doing great work.
I got it mixed together with Japanese😭
I don’t call my toes thumbs anymore, I will continue to learn from my mistakes!
cool samurai armor.
Takeda... Nice.. Love to play them in Total War Shogun 2
awesome
Nice clothing 😆 ! I love it 😍 !
Wow! Alright, I envy you :D Date Masamune armor looks so cool to me.
This is soooo coooolll
Oh man that looks so cool, some of the armors look like some from Ghost of Tsushima. That was a great game.
Its so coool
I'm a big fan of the Oda Nobunaga armor. It was a great addition to the video to get a very brief look into the progression of samurai armor on this aspect.
That looks badass in my honest opinion
Takeda Shingen :
The Tiger Of Kai
Date Masamune :
One eye dragon
Sanada Yukimura:
A Hero who may appear once in a hundred years
ALL FAMOUS
The samurai with an eyepatch shouts "Yagyu Jubei!" in my mind.
Great..
Behaving like samurai in taiga dramas is actually quite easy. The proper response to any conversation is to glare at each other menacingly.
