- This video shows how I pruned 2 very overgrown Forsythia bushes in early Spring. They hadn't been touched for a very long time and the insides of the bushes had a lot of decay and rot.

I’d love to see what it looks like now, I bet it’s super healthy and has a ton of new growth. Sometimes you have to do things out of normal sequence, it would have been much more difficult in the spring. Forsythia is very resilient.
Thanks for watching! I haven't been back to this client for a couple of years I was just helping her out because she had back surgery. I'm sure I'll do some more Forsythia in the future and will do some updates.
Prune in early spring before the flowers come out? Wait after flowering.
Yes that is preferred but with all the dead wood and clutter in the middle of these they couldn't wait. It's better to have a heathier plant in the long term rather than worry about losing a few flowers one year. I don't think I even cut that much off tops.
