John - yes the pole hedge trimmer is heavy but I have a 2.5 Amp Hour battery that I can use for 20 minutes or so that makes it lighter. Those hedge rows were really high it would be impossible to do the tops with a normal hedge trimmer.

I did it around a 4 - 5 with several passes around the yard. The worst thing you can do is dump it all too quickly so just adjust it until you see a decent amount of seed coming out and go over it 2-3 times.

You can cut as much as you want but to make it look good cut the center part a little lower than the outside branches

I did use a paint brush to smooth it out on some parts. If you see streaking definitely wipe or brush it down.

I put them in my shed but I cover the table outside during the winter with tarps and it works great as long as the tarps don't have holes. I don't need to sand at all this year just a light coating of teak oil.

Thanks for all of your information. My cherry tree has currently been devastated by black aphids. Sprayed it with neem oil a couple times but it looks bad. If the fruit flies come back again I will probably cut it down. I'll just go buy the cherries from a farmer like you!

@@yardbuddha aphids are easy if you deal with them long term. first of all what makes them worst. synthetic fertilizers are to plants as processed sugar in human body. never use them anywhere on your property. you are just putting up a neon sign welcoming aphids. secondly, aphids are a sign of too much nitrogen. third thing to watch out for is having mulch against tree bark. i cannot see well in your vid but if the mulch is touching your tree, you are damaging it. i also cannot tell if your trees are planted high enough. the flare at the base of trees should always be above soil. your trees look kind of popsicle like to me but like i said, i cannot see this well. all these things make aphids and other pests and diseases worst. just like the our bodies, plants that are well cared for and balanced will resist disease. i, for example, was last sick in the mid 80's when i changed my diet and lifestyle. when you have problem with pests and diseases, always look at the balance and quality of the environment. i have not used synthetic fertilizers on my land since i purchased it in mid 80's but my neighbors do so i get aphids but i resist spraying even organic pesticides because i want to encourage the insects that eat them. sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. you may have to put up with a sick tree for a couple of years but if you have eliminated the causes, the lacewings and ladybugs will solve your problem. also, black aphids are usually hosted by chrysanthemums not sure what they are doing on your cherry. weeds, diseases, and pests all tell you something is wrong culturally. your soil is the most important. the best way to get rid of a heavy infestation of aphids is a sharp spray nozzle of water. just blast them away. this can eliminate enough of them to give the plant more time for the predators to get established.

I didn't sand anything and it still covered the bamboo fine. You might want to powerwash it or clean it first though to remove debris and get better contact. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching Matthew! Sorry I live up North in Washington State and don't have any idea about warm Southern grass (centipede & bermuda). The cheapest way to renovate is to kill everything with Roundup and then reseed. It's 10x cheaper than sod but still a lot of work. I know tall fescue does well in the mid South. Check out GCI Turf on youtube I know he lives around your area.

It depends on what type of spreader you have. On the Scott's Elite I used a 5. I would just see how much seed is coming out and try to manage it so you do light 2 passes across all of your yard. The worst thing you can do is put it down too quickly so I like to cover everything a few times lightly.

Thanks for watching. I live in zone 6 and it usually gets down to below zero a few times in the Winter. Pine trees are hardy but I do put mine under a tree or sheltered against the wind just in case. You can even cover them with a tarp or mulch for better insulation.

I'll try to get an update video out this Summer. I leave my pot outside in the Winter in a sheltered area away from the wind/snow (like under a big tree). It's survived so far and it got to -20 degrees here in Spokane this Winter. I've found that it likes partial sun not full sun because the soil dries out too quickly during our hot Summer.

Yeah the tall fescue is usually the last one to green up in the Spring. It needs the warmer soil compared to the others but it will look great in May. I noticed the more established it gets it looks better after Winter - also we didn't have as much snow this year so it looks better than last year by far.

Thanks for the idea I'll do a follow up video this Summer. They look great - the tree in the ground grows much faster than the one in the container and its a bit more difficult to keep the size contained.

I sprayed 3 times last year probably 1-2 weeks apart. The directions on the product say you can spray up to 6 times per year and should wait 7 days in between sprays. I highly recommend using the sticky traps to time your spray. It can be used on almost every fruit tree. Thanks for watching!

Start topping them at the height that you want to stop them at. More branches will grow up during the year. I would do it twice per year mid Spring and late Fall. Just try to not leave a ugly stub exposed at the top and foliage will grow in.

A client of mine asked me to help with this project so I'm not sure exactly how it performed last year. He said it held up well. I'm not a fan of landscape fabric especially if you put organic material on top of it. I'll be back at his place this Spring and will do a follow up video.
