That's not how you trim Forsythias. They branch out from the point of the cut so you will make them flop and be more out of control in just a few months, You have to cut branches from the base.
I've been managing a hedge of five plants by shearing new growth and I now have minimal blooms....what time of year? I have such thick hedge that I can't find the base..,and I'm an old woman. Nobody in the local landscaping service will do anything but come through with a standing riding mower.
I'm laughing because standing in the big, plastic, green garbage can is what my wife makes me do with the leaves, twigs and branches. Once she said I could do it in the strong paper leaf bags they have up here in Canada. Well, it broke and I went flying! She felt so bad that she said. "I'm SO sorry!" and after that we both just pushes the leaves etc. down in the leaf bag with our HANDS! PLUS, she made me my favorite cookies! It was worth it lol! Oh, the joys of marriage lol. We've been married for yikes, 50 years and known each other for 56 years! Because of Covid-19, we didn't celebrate it but we were happy that we never got it!

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Forsythia is NOT a hedge shrub at all. Check out Granny's Garden videos for the correct way to prune forsythia. And your choice of music is more appropriate for a slasher movie...well...actually that is what happened in the video. What a shame.
