    I love these kinds of projects that satisfy the geek in me as well as giving a new function to a broken product that would just get thrown away otherwise.

    That is very smart but what if you want to the tv's own power supply that came with it??

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 4 lety +1

      You can do it! Just take of the broken TFT/LCD layer and use it as it was before with even a remote controller function, so you can keep the original power supply and just plug it into the wall and turn it on/off with its remote controller. Dimming would not be possible in this way just if you can find out how to set up the brightness which without the screen seems a little bit hard for me. I´ve just took off the electronics to be able to sell it or using it for other projects.

      @@Dombi3D thank a lot for your reply, now what about a pc screen?? because its designed to turn off after a few seconds when there is no computer signal coming in...

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 4 lety

      That could be more difficult. I also made one lamp from an LED LCD screen where the LED stripe was on the bottom of the screen but there you need to know some electronics to be able to solder onto the PCB where the led enable pin is or something similar. I ended up to hook an external power supply onto the LED stripe.
      Important that not all TFT/LCD screens are LED backlighted. Older version of screens has a DC/AC converter built in and than the light works from the converted AC current. These are not so efficient and bright as the LEDs so I won't use them for this purpose.

    I have done 2 of these, 1 Samsung 42" and a Vizio 55". On the Samsung, I removed the input board keeping the power supply board. When I plug in the AC power, it immediately turns on. With the Vizio, I had to leave the input board in and I must use the power switch or the remote to turn it on. How I realized that I needed to keep the input board was having the light on and start unplugging cables. One of them killed the light, so put it back. Since, I wasn't going to try to sell the cards, it didn't matter. I didn't think about it until it was too late, but if you can turn the brightness up to max before removing the LCD board do it.

    I have a non-working Samsung 32 inch LED-backlit TV. A lot like this one, but 2 strips of 12 LEDs. I found the spec sheet online for the strip lights, and they say "Every LED lamp voltage (is) 3V". How can I power the two 12-LED strips with an adapter? What voltage AC adapter should I use? I don't understand the math of deriving the number. Electricity confuses me.

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 5 lety

      I would measure first on the motherboard what voltage goes to the LEDs. Than you get the voltage level. Other option if you have a laboratory power supply where you can change the voltage level. There I would start from 3V and check if it lights up the LEDs. If not than slowly step up maximum till 24V. If still nothing than you should take it in account that not every LED backlight TV-s are so simple to convert like mine in the video. Once I met one wich LEDs controlled with the motherboard and just the GND and VIN was not enough to turn the lights on because it needed the turn on signal from the motherboard. Because the location of this pin varies from each modells I did not made a video about this. I hope you manage to finish your project with success but if you not have practice with electronics please watch some safety videos before to not kill yourself! AC power from the wall socket can be fatal!

    OMG! Someone is taking apart a tv!!! They must know how to fix my broken one!! I'm gonna ask how much he will charge!....... C'mon people. Really? Are you really trying to use videos on CZcams as a way to find services to fix your stuff? Try a Google search for TV repair in your area and then ask "can you fix my tv?" I guarantee you will have better results. Most of the comments on here are asking if he can fix your TV. Looks like you missed the entire point of the video. You saw a TV and a guy taking it apart and somehow came to the realization that he can and wants to fix your TV. 1+1 does not equal 15. Jesus people. I want gonna comment, but after seeing most of the comments were about fixing your shit, I felt obligated to comment and pose the additional question of, Is most of humanity this fucking dumb?! Only evidence I ever see is that, yes, it is that dumb. Never to the contrary. And if you cant understand any part of what I just said, then case in point. Leaving now and shaking my head and thinking we need some sort of population control based on IQ. But the left wing will never go for that, that's where thier voters are. They cant trick smarter people. Still shaking my head.

    These newer type flatscreen are extremely cheap build, weak useles tech 120+hertz while all our videos are 60hz and lower gues what? 60hz actualy looks les sharp on 120 and above plus every frame gets shown twice making it look choppy and not smooth at all.
    But they installed some shit firmware/software that creates fake frames & inserts them inbetween the real image, so what you are watching on the screen isnt even the real source, but a morphed ugly soap opera effect fata morgana video image.
    If you disable that crappy software the image looks even worse , plus the latency is horrible mostly above 30ms
    TV's / monitors have gone downhill after the allmighty crt, only improvement is higher resolution and wider colour range
