I think you answered your own question there - Clough obviously knew Revie was bent and that, along with Leeds' leg-breaking style (Clough's playing career was cut short by a serious injury and I'm sure that affected his view) was easily enough to make the future Forest manager despise him.

Well, I don't think they got on anyway, due to a clash of personalities. Smith said Hughes was the only member of the Liverpool squad he never got on with but he respected him as a player.
