So here I am with a Halloween video... What's going on? 🎃👻🦇😼😱
Did you even wonder what fragrance a cat would choose if they could? 🤔
Oh you did?! 🤣 Fab, keep on watching!
I really knew very little about the origins of the characters and objects that we associate with Halloween, so I did a bit of research and here I tell you why vampires are a thing, why witches are associated with brooms, why a black cat crossing your path is seen as unlucky and finally why we carve pumpkins at Halloween.
I also choose perfumes for vampires, witches, cats and a folk tale, cos why not?

Loved this Claire! So interesting to learm all the history of our spooky traditions. I won't be going out or answering the door because there are usually a lot of early fireworks that upset one of the dogs, and the other one gets very barky at the door going. So we usually shut the curtains, turn off the lights and watch a film and cuddle the dogs. I have a sample of Penhaligon's the Bewitching Yasmine so I will prob wear that. Reminds me of the old Dior Addict which smells very witchy to me 🖤
So glad you enjoyed it! I'm sure I found a dupe for bewitching Jasmin the other day... I can't remember what it was now 🤦♀️ hopefully it will come back to me! Aah yes Dior addict was witchier than now for sure, they toned it down... And yes, very sensible. Dogs are easily upset at this time of the year. People are somewhat thoughtless with fireworks. You got to hear two versions today with Jon's video too! 🎃

Yeah we've had it with the fireworks already, Fly in particular. Was walking to tesco the other day and a kid set one off right next to us and it triggered me to have a panic attack. They should be banned for public sale imo, professional use only

@@ems_h.eartnotes I agree. It's dangerous to let people do what they want because people aren't very responsible. We had them on the farm, but that's because a display was 10 miles away and we had plenty of room. In urban or suburban areas it can be inconsiderate.
I wore Alien on Friday. The new version lacks something. I like that menthol opening of the old version.

Hi Tera! Growing up I preferred my dog but now as a adult I respect cats and their disdain! 🤣 Stroking a cat is one of life's great joys and when they love you, wow, you know that's been hard earnt! Vampires are fascinating aren't they? I need more vampire fragrances in my life! 🦇

Such a fun video! I still need to sniff the L’Orchestre line. Probably my favorite scary Halloween trope is the creepy soul-stealing vintage doll. Actually anything humanoid ‘uncanny valley’ really creeps me out. 😳 I’d scent ‘Annabelle’ with Splendiris for it’s vintage violet-iris with powdery musks like dried flowers that had collected dust and grew some mold. Happy Halloween! 🎃
Jackie that's a fab choice! I think I'd choose something like flora Mortis for similar reasons, it's a dead flower kind of scent, but weirdly it still smells pleasant 🤷♀️ I might also choose Gucci rush for Annabelle! I think piano santal is beautiful, so milky, and I've not tried it, but I know many people love bouquet encore too! Thanks for watching ❤️

I appreciate the history lesson! I saw a documentary on vampires and I think it was discovered that there's a deficiency? Or disease that imitates the receding gums etc. Anyway, thank you! Happy 🎃🎃🎃

I loved the stories and found very funny and on point the perfumes that a cat would wear, it shows that you love cats 😆BTW Piano Santal is very high on my wishlist. It is one of the most addictive fragances I have tried and I feel very identified with cats!

Good morning Dr. Claire. I so love your forays into linking fragrances with history. As a serious cat lover I now plan to pick a fragrance out for my Athena(she’s a long haired lilac point Siamese). I personally have never engaged in Halloween but I don’t disparage anyone that does. The history of its origins are quite fascinating.
Thank you! Yes, I can't say I've celebrated it much in my life either. I used to carve pumpkins when I was a child but other than that, not much else. We mainly celebrate bonfire night on 5th November, which was more exciting to me because of the fireworks 🎆 I have always wanted to scent a cat 🐈 I absolutely adore cats! I hope you find a good fragrance to make you think of a cat. I think something musky or with sandalwood can be a good place to start. 🥰

In my opinion Hypnotic Poison EDP version is a perfect witch fragrance, so spicy-vanilla liquorice wonderful potion. To Stingy Jack I would choose YSL Kouros it's hell and Heaven in a bottle.

Black Orchid is a growing fragrance on me, very unique i would say compared to my other fragrances. So glad you added to your Halloween video. We do not have this holiday in Cyprus, however love to see a great video around this theme :)

Perhaps it’s a bit on the nose, but I think a cat could also wear Bengale Rouge from Papillon 🐈⬛ I personally enjoy the boldness of the perfume but alas, my husband hates it. And come to think of it, when I let my two cats sniff the fragrance they recoiled! Your selections were better ☺️
🤣 cats are so picky aren't they?! Knowing how changeable they are, they'll probably love it next time they sniff it 😂 But wow, I didn't smell that one, I only tried Angelique so far, but I bet Bengale Rouge is a big fragrance!

So fun! Lune Feline would be an almost too obvious choice for cats. Angel's Share or Khamrah for Jack? Maybe Ambre de Alexandrie - but I feel as if Jack would have spent a fair bit of time at the pub, and that one might not be boozy enough. Not sure sure about vampires - maybe Venom of Love. Wicked Good for witches?

Not sure what I think of my Kayali Invite Only Amber sample yet. It's quite different from my other fragrances. I've only got a tiny sample so may get a bigger one to test further. It's certainly interesting.

Invite only is quite complex for Kayali, their other fragrances are really a bit simpler. I think actually many people don't like it so no worries if you eventually feel the same. It's intriguing for sure!

So many popes have had some really dodgy views haven't they? I remember someone saying the Catholic church only admitted the Earth went around the Sun in the mid 70s and not the other way around... I'm not sure whether that's true or not, but if so, I think that says a lot! The lack of action against Hitler from the pope during ww2 is just unthinkable, I remember being so shocked when I first heard about that.
