Were I a child today, I would be pressured into being transgender. I am a happy Gay man and so glad I am Gen X.
My sister was a complete Tom boy growing up. She hated her breasts when they started to develop. I think she would have gone down the trans pathway too. Thank God she had the chance to become the happy, well adjusted adult she is now by being left alone to grow up.
Same - super tomboy, now 🏳️🌈♀️.
I can't even imagine growing up today. I may have been all right given both my parents were remarkably "gender non-conforming" themselves & the least captured by regressive sex roles & sex stereotypes of any people I've ever known, but given today's crushing & overwhelming cultural genderism, it might have meant I could have fallen prey to the cult & given them the battle of their lives as they sought to help me grow up healthy & whole.
I really like this woman: independent thinker, humane, courageous and also a great accent.
I do too for the same reasons. And those eyes 😍

What to do when an skinny teenager says they are fat and need to lose weight? Offer gastric band surgery? Apptite suppressors?
When this is done, I want to see more than a few doctors struck off and in jail for some version of Grievous Bodily Harm and or Conspiracy for achieving that harm.
Not just them. Who wrote the standards of care? Where was the American Academy of Paediatrics, the Endocrine Society - to say nothing of all the former LGB orgs that used to protect same-s* attracted people, now doing this to the non conforming kids! GLAAD, Stonewall, Trevor Project… All while thinking themselves compassionate? it is so twisted.
My daughter is autistic. When she was younger she was puzzled by gender and often asked what did it mean to 'feel" female or male. In her early teens she got on much easier with boys and decided she needed to start acting and dressing like a boy to be accepted by them.
Later on she started to bind her breasts and recently, at the age of 18, has changed her name, and registered as male with the NHS, and is intending to go through the whole change in a couple of years.
She has never seemed to me to be particularly masculine or feminine.
I cannot say no to her because she will stop talking to me, and it may make her even more resolute. I can only keep having conversations with her.
If she had been born 20 years ago this would not have happened. She is autistic and finds people and fitting in difficult. But she would not have gone down the trans route, I am sure of that. But what can I do but keep commutation open and hope she grows out of it, or the medical profession come to their senses and try to help her to accept who she is.

This is incredible and a fantastic resource for parents.
When anyone tells you they are trans they are lying to you. They know what sex they are and they know there is no reason for you or anyone else to pretend that they are something other than the sex they were born as.
So tell them to stop lying and start accepting their body as it is.
Honestly, you have to think of these people as cult members. Their cult has redefined basic terms and concepts and cast anyone who disagrees with them as evil incarnate. They aren't lying, they're brainwashed.
They're brainwashed INTO lying.

@@ponygirl1716 You are suggesting that they have lost the capacity to function independently and thus are so wrapped in irrationality that they are incapable of consenting to any of the harmful trans nonsense.
Whilst that may be true, they may be mentally incompetent, it does not change the fact that they are lying to you when they seek to trick you into believing that they are something other than their biological sex.
It does not matter whether they appear to believe their lies or not. They are still lies.

Thank goodness sex change was not available when I was a little girl. I seriously wanted to be a cowboy, I was very unhaopy that I could not be a cowboy, and I was a tomboy at a time tomboys were indulged in and considered cute. I grew up and was a girlfriend, a mom, and a grandmother, I love clothes and make up - I',m thrilled to be female.

Im sure Stella talks about it in her book but clearly there is also the role of self imposed homophobia, which is a sort of nervosa anorexia. This can be triggered societally or in the home.
I don’t think it’s self imposed. Society HATES gender non conforming people, we never moved on from hating them.
I don't buy that at all because gay people are almost completely accepted now, what it is is that they've moved on to something more shocking because they want to be shocking and deviant and an "oppressed minority".
For some it's WHO your attracted to post puberty. How your sexual orientation and sexuality works. That isn't homophobia it's sexuality. Personally, I'm not into authoritarianism coming from any direction. Forced to adhere to any lefty group. I like Stella she's mainly balanced.

The non medical path to gender, just like psychotherapy for supporting mental health, doesn't make $$$ for pharma. There's big money supporting trans medical interventions. Billions in life long pharmaceutical patients and starting at 9yo.

Fascinating and important - I would say this should be required listening in many places - schools, government, NHS - at least.

There's lots of money to be made by clinics. They have vested interest in advising surgical intervention and pharmaceutical intervention. They are probably doing their best - in their warped minds - but inevitably their psychology is affected by their career prospects.
Truly disturbing stuff from Stella. This despite listening to these arguments most days.
A very sad word is "de-transitioning". It, unfortunately, doesn't exist if the surgery has already taken place. Breasts and penises cannot be replaced if once removed. That's why no transitions should be allowed before the age of 25.
I would love to support Spiked Brendan but not as long as you are supporting Brexit. The EU is a barrier against all the things that you dislike - not a cause of them.

Of course you’re valid and real. You’re just not the opposite sex as your body, brain, dna, chromosomes, gametes, etc.
99% of the world's population will never accept the redefining of the word "woman" as per queer theory just because it makes people with gender dysphoria feel good. It is an extremely rare condition. I only met one trans person in my country in my whole life time ... 0% of my friends, regardless of political or religious affiliation believes in queer theory. I also communicate a lot with people from China and the Middle East on language apps. It seems that the vast majority of people subscribing to the queer theory definition of the word woman are from English-speaking countries like the US, Australia, UK. As I don't really have any contacts in Anglophone countries, trans people for all intents and purposes do not exist in my life. I just hear about it on CZcams.

Ermm...no. We don't let children do any number of things, because their critical thinking skills are undeveloped, their judgement is poor, and their ability to project into the future is sorely lacking. There is no justification for letting children make decisions about permanently altering their bodies.
