An under-looked way of increasing your scans is your receiving. The better your first touch gets when receiving the ball the more time you have to perform scans before the ball gets to you because you already know you can receive the ball well. I have trouble recognizing spaces or gaps where I can dribble in, I play wing and sometimes when I watch back my videos I see gaps between I can dribble in but don’t recognize when I play I do pick my head up when I dribble I just don’t recognize them that much. Good technique is key
Maybe you should scan for spaces to dribble into instead of where your marker is. Instinctively you will know the position of your marker

I'm unable to perform critical scans in tight spaces
Does this critical scan depend on the weight and distance of the pass?....if a heavy pass is played within a short distance, won't a normal scan be more helpful?....cos I feel like a critical scan in a short distance of a heavy pass might lead to losing track of the ball

I have trouble sometimes not collecting information when I critical scan. How do I work on my quality of my scans? Any advice? Thank you
Reduce the quantity of your scans.. remember, it’s about the quality and not the quantity! So you might need less concentrated scans instead of moving your head multiple times without having a concrete idea of what you saw

@@ejiasichristian5476 you have two scans.. first one is a general scan when your teammate has the ball, you perform this scan to have the general idea of where players are positioned.. critical scan is knowing when you take a better look at the situation in front of you

Think, Opponents would be first. As retention of ball is most important. But if the scan is good. In one go, we might see both.

Spaces
Between them and the defenders, distance to goal, your teammates etc

But the passes of pro player are almost perfect so they can focus on critical scan but on semi pro or amateur level we have to look to the ball coz passes are not perfect
No I play on amateur level and already use the critical scan. If you have a good first touch or one touch pass then you can scan quickly when the ball is on the way to you.
