Daaaaamn, I bet 12 year old Matt Sheldon got all the babes 😎
Lol also, I remember when you got shouted at by some angry boomer for simply trying to get some individual training in at an empty parking lot during covid, and how sad I was that you lost a ball to the river 😢😂
Also also... I think you should be incredibly proud of all the wonderful, helpful and informative content you have created over the years. You've no doubt helped thousands of people all over the world improve and grow their love for the game. All from your passion for the game, and your desire to share and help others. It's really admirable and inspiring! You are the lady in yellow doing the Ronaldinho drill (metaphorically speaking) for so many people around the world. And that's kinda cool how you've kinda come full circle.
Ps. Hope you, Mimi and the baby are doing well. Please can we get another version of that interior design challenge you two did together years ago. I really enjoyed that and would be interesting to see how your styles have changed.
Okay, enough yammering from me. Much love, peace ❤
I'm 12 years old, become a pro
@@RottenlyMoodyChild Thank you so much for all the kind words! Haha definitely remember being yelled at by the guy in the empty parking lot and losing the +$100 ball into the river on one of the first passes haha. Crazy how long ago that feels. It's so cool to think about how I might've come full circle on CZcams like you mentioned. It's surreal to think about myself in that way, because I don't really stop and think about that.
I'll see if Mimi is down for another one of those videos haha those are always fun to film!
I actually would disagree, playing games without direction and making bad habits won’t get you pro, and avoid most pickups at all costs.
This may be your best video yet. Too many young players spend hours doing elastico but cannot play simple soccer because they have no first touch or ability to pass. Keep It Simple. Love it.
Love this!! You addressed the number 1 problem I’ve been facing, OVER SATURATION. Not knowing which is the best to start with. Thank you🎉
Excellent video. Lots of content shared super efficiently with clear direction. One of the most comprehensive videos I’ve seen. Especially appreciate you showing the ideal pace (fast) to strive too. Thank you.
Mastering the basics, love it, great message for the young players coming up! I try to keep the same principle in mind when training and rehabbing my clients. Keep up the great content - it’s been a huge inspiration for my training videos 🙏
This video is brilliant Matt. Amazing way to simplify for young and old ballers alike.
Great video! Well thought out and carefully constructed. Lots of those drills are doable. Its got me thinking about the best wall for the job 😉 ⚽
I'm gonna add these drills in my training. Thank you so much for your great advice. Love you brother ❤❤❤
Love the variety and specificity in all of these. Great work! Let’s go!!
Thanks!!! this really does help me in a lot of ways because I was getting over whelmed with drills and technicality. So thanks again, keep making good content, you should make one of these but with physical, endurance, and speed/reaction drills
Great video brother, simple solutions are hard to come by nowadays… people like you allow those of us who want to make it to find a starting point and finally have the chance to move forward. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️🤝🏾
Thank you for this video. I've had allot of paralysis by analysis lately not sure what to do and not practicing as a result. Love your channel :)
A very helpful video. Thanks mate! Love the work.❤
This is such a good video because i train everyday by myself so i love to see that you are adding variations for individual training
Perfect video; you are doing extremely well, I’m motivated!
always give us a massive advice, thanks matt
Definitely one of my all time favorites. Thanks!
So true Matt! Very overwhelming the hours of video to choose from that’s why a few years back, I honed in on just 3 channels for soccer: Become Elite🙌🏽, 7MLC and Will John’s. 100% with your pick of these 10 drills (and I’m looking at it for D1 college level prospects). ❤ your channel and your Game Fit program is excellent!
True these three and unisport is amazing as well( will john is a part of that as well)
Completely agree, those are 3 channels I watch the most. They've all helped me a lot as a football player
check out simply soccer, you have not yet seen how simple football is made to comeout
1to1 football is also very helpful
This video is amazing. Truly a master piece.
I love this channel and the content that he does. It helps me a lot. Thank you very much
Awesome video! You really help out many coaches and players out there to the point. Subbed and liked, well deserved 👍
Amazing video, a lot of value . Thanks bro
That's all I need for football technique, thank you so much Matt and have a good day
This is really good. There are a lot of youth coaches that should understand this.
Putting together a skills night for my sons team for extra practice. This was super helpful.
We love your content! Do you have any videos on becoming more physical and not getting knocked off the ball? Need this for the smaller players i coach. Thx!
Solid video and a solid selection of drills, I concur! Let's Go Hartford Ath!
Part 2 on physical drlls and part 3 on tactical drlls plzzz
Thanks for making this video because it help me alot and you are the best love u ❤ because I am so confused that what type of drills I do or what shedule I can follow because on internet there is so many videos and schedules and program's
Make more videos on this topic thanks ❤️🙏🏿🔥
BEST VID FOR DRILLS I've seen in a long time. Hits so many areas my boys want to work on.
Great video Matt! I have learn a lot from this!
Brilliant video as always!
Thanks for the video gonna start doing these god bless!
Thanks Matt! Great video
Your content is gold, Matt. It would have been great to have this video when I was a kid for sure.
great resource, thanks
So good!!🔥
this is gold! thank u !!!
I'm soooo happy that Matt included the solo variants for the drills
Pure value. No sugarcoating. The goat🐐
Very useful. I dont want to be a pro soccer player but I play casual futsal and these will definitely help. Keen to try the ronaldinho drill as I have no idea how to dribble
Great video ive been needing this
Thank you so Much!
Can you do the same type of video for gym exercises
Love the content btw
Can we take a moment to appreciate the editing in this video? Matt is a pro player and still cranks out quality stuff all by himself
Best video on CZcams since 2005. love, Toronto.
🙏🏽 thank you !
Thank you so much sir..👏
Spot on 🔥
Thank you this really helped
Love your videos as always⚽⚽⚽
I really like that chart you added where you show exactly what each drill works on. Could you add that in for future training videos as well?
Perfect vid 👍
Great video Matt
A tip to everyone: Contact a team in your area. The best decision I ever made was to ask to contact a random team in my area. That is how you grow as a player. Even if they are better, you still learn to grow by playing and trying harder. Seriously, the worst case is that you get a "No". Then you try again and fail better. Join or even start a team with the company you work at. Best of luck everyone!
I've been trying this, most of the teams need payment first, and the others didn't even respond to me. I'll just save and join one when possible, I really want to know what it feels like to play for a team
IT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP IT UP!!!!!
Too much informative video Thanks
Love this, even as a goalkeeper.
Thanks bro!
These are some amazing drills wow
Thank you bro
nice, and your home town is stunning as well
Matt, y’all should try playing half court inside the 18. You need 2-3 teams and a goalie. The team size can be anything from 1s to 5s. When a team scores they stay on and the third team has to progress the ball from the goal line inside the six out of the 18 to activate their possession. When possession changes, inside the 18, you have to get the ball outside the 18 before you can score. It’s extremely high passed and intense.
This video is a gem…to the point, precise, nothing fancy. Cruyff would have surely approved. ❤
Great video.
Excellent channel, been following it for a while.
I wanted to know if you've got any tips on increasing the long passing range (in the air). I can hit 30 40 yards passes, 50 yards on a good day. How to increase this range?
I remember Kenny Dalglish made the Liverpool players focus on small 5 aside games which worked well.
Thanks!
love the video
Top content Matt
Great video
Very nice drills you got there!! I sure will add these to my training routine with my team👍🏼
14:34 - you said it! Thank you for the video
This is a helpful video. I would love to see a top 10 tips for defending. I coach young kids and it would be helpful to get some quality tips.
1v1 to an end zone and 2v3 to Puggs.
dont coach them if u dont know bro
@@Arabiangigachad While there is a blithe tone to your comment, the message actually has a lot of merit. The main job of a youth coach is to set up situations for the players to learn as opposed to teaching them to play. If you set up the situation correctly, then you don’t need to “coach” the message into them.
Thanks
For the first time im ever impressed with a trainning video..
This was a great video. I'm way past my competitive playing days, but I wish I had more exposure to these drills / points of emphasis during my formative years. Awesome consolidation of what could otherwise be really overwhelming content.
I am curious if you have thoughts on drills for younger players? Players that haven't yet developed the types of foundational skills needed to be productive with the drills you highlighted in this video. I want to share this video with my brother, for his young son, but he's a little guy and drills like these will have to be stockpiled for a little further down the line.
The best video on yt honestly
Hey Matt. Great video! What would you recommend for evaluating players during tryouts?
l really like ur vids please put more l really like them
Two out of my three boys play soccer competitively and I think they can get lost in all these fancy skill move CZcams videos. At their age it's nothing more than a distraction (albeit entertaining), so this video of 10 essential drills for any player makes a lot of sense and will help players become more grounded in the game.
I love your videos! Thank you so much for making content that's clear and easy to understand. And that focuses on practical skills to help players develop instead of flashy drills to get clicks! And knowing it comes from someone with legit credentials is awesome!
Do you have any drills you recommend for teaching basic skills to young kids (7 years old) who are true beginners?
I'm coaching my son's 2nd grade team in a casual city rec league. Most of them have trouble passing or shooting more than 5-10 yards and they have very little concept of getting open for a pass or attacking the ball instead of waiting for it. I played in some rec leagues when I was younger, but never played competitively or got serious coaching, so I don't have a great base to draw on. I don't care if we win or lose, but I would like to help the kids get better, and more importantly see the improvement themselves.
Most of the videos I've found online that say they're for "beginners" or young kids assume a skill level that is way higher than my team. And the drills they recommend (while cool and fun) are so complicated that we would end up spending half of the practice (we only get 1 hour 1 day per week) just teaching them how to do the drills instead of actually working on the skills.
I would love to find drills for individual skills like ball handling, passing, and shooting. And also for team skills like field awareness, positioning, and challenging the ball.
Appreciate all the kind words! If you are coaching true beginner level players around that 5-8 year range and you only have them for an hour... I really think you keep it as basic and as fun as possible. I would focus on really, really simple passing lines where they just work on passing the ball 2-5 yards to a teammate (work on passing and trapping with both feet), dribbling through lines of cones or around a zig zag of cones with a simple pass into a mini goal, and then just have them play 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 games to mini goals. Honestly the best thing you can do at that age is get them to get a ton of touches on the ball and just have them play. As they get older, more skilled, and develop longer attention spans that's when you can start to complicate the drills and bring in more complex topics. Like you said, if you only have an hour with them you want them to spend 55 minutes playing with the ball and you talking only like 5 minutes haha.
@@BecomeEliteThank you so much for taking the time to respond! Great information. It's so tempting to try to do more with the drills, but I think you're right that keeping it simple and maximizing touches is the way to go.
I am from India and you become my favourite youtuber and love you
I realy like your videos ❤
Fantastic help for my 12-yr-old boys' team, thanks!
you earn a sub mate
Nice Vid
Elite i am emeka from nigeria i love your works
Great video, Simply but effective drills. For me there Is just One peoblem,i don't have a space for for training. I don't have a pitch where when i want i can go and train, but that don't stop me.
A lot of these skills my kid gets work on at his club practices.
But what about position specific drills? At what age do you start those and do you yourself do fullback specific drills or do you feel these cover that well enough?
Can you the same vid but with gym exercises?
Oh yeah, that would be great
Some main drills for you would be cardio or plyometrics It’s not very descriptive but that’s kind of that main 2 plyometrics help with athleticism and you do cardio a lot in football so even running in the gym could help you a lot
Very eyes-opening video, Matt!
This will help a lot of young ballers, me included. Thank you! 🙏
Hi Matt, what do you think about the fascia training
Nice elite
I like do this but some times i prefer to do my position drills after them
what type of shoes / boots do you use on concrete when using the wall? astro-turfs?
Please make a video on the whoop strap that players like CR7 and VVD wear during training
有所謂爛片我真心鍾意,當然亦有公認好電影我又好鍾意,有時同同一個朋友,可以好極端,有時又好一致,鬼哥講得好好 ! 係好個人,好自己
The best drill ever and the only drill u ever need is to just play the game everyday.
Best drill ever, yes. Only drill you ever need, no.
@@BecomeElite Came here to say the same thing as Matt, in a game there’s just no way to guarantee that you’ll get sufficient time with the ball. Especially if you’re just playing random pickup games in the off season. Or if you’re like me who at the age of 25 is just starting to play for the first time and wants to get better so I’m able to play with my friends that have played since they were kids
I started playing at thirty. For my first six years I only played, mostly indoor. Then one day I did a figure eight cone weave for about twenty minutes. My control and mostly confidence were so much higher after that.
@@shantiescovedo4361 that’s exactly what I’m talking about, you can’t get that kind of training/confidence building by only playing games where you’re constantly worried the ball is gonna get stolen from you
@@arckylie3081 Exactly - especially if I primarily play with people who are better than than I am.
Can you make one full of all individual drills
Please make a video about stretch after traning
