In his movies Sergio Leone treated the face as a landscape. Closeups and long lenses capture the sweat and eyes of the characters. Clint Eastwood. Robert De Niro. Henry Fonda. The audience is brought so close you can almost feel their breath. The closeup shot is his trademark, and this video is a collection of the very best Leone Closeups.

One of my favorite directors, almost made me cry watching this. Something about the combination of those frames and that beautiful piece by Morricone. It's such a tragedy that Leone died when he did. If only he'd lived another ten or twenty years, who knows what masterpieces he would've dreamed up for us.
A MASTERPIECE was coming he was working at it and i think it was going to be the best film in the history of CINEMA.ciao

I love in all of his movies..camera is always at wide angle and everything is single frame.
I admire the tricky cameraworks but these wide closeups and single frames are so pleasent for our eyes.

No discussion that Leone is the master cinematic of close-ups . Through those he express all kind of humanity, demons , integrity, afflictions , hopes . It is sad today the today's standarzided cinema and serial tv : lost all these values .
Charles Bronson... what a legend! What an epic and superb role and acting in Once upon a time in the West - silent good killer, speak not much, but saying soooo much!!! Only with his eyes and cold calm mimicry of his face! His acting is real deal! Even better than Clint Eastwood's. More of Charles Bronson and Claudia Cardinale!!!
Out of all Leone's closeups, Bronson's has the best, the most Leone face of them all!

when i was a young boy growing up in the 60's, i saw those John Wayne movies, but when I saw The Good, the Bad & the Ugly......THAT WAS IT! F JOHN WAYNE!! and as for Claudia .... I watched & loved 3 actresses from the 60's, Dawn Wells(Mary Ann), Natalie Wood & Claudia Cardinale .... damn! Yes - more pics of Claudia's looks, her stares were captivating too!!

Leone rimarrà unico nella storia del cinema perché in ogni scena sapeva rendere immensa l'espressività degli attori,gran bel video peccato solo che manchino tanti altri grandi attori,come Luigi Pistilli, Mario Brega, Benito Stefanelli e altri ancora
Era davvero un maestro con un modo bellissimo di raccontare una storia e mostrare l'anima di un personaggio attraverso i loro occhi. Vorrei aver realizzato le cifre importanti che avevo tralasciato durante il montaggio, ma ho cercato di ottenerne il maggior numero possibile! Grazie per la visione!
