The praise in the comments for Sergio Leone is of course fully warranted. However, don't overlook the contribution of Tonino Delli Colli, the cinematographer. I totally agree. It is why Citizen Kane was probably Welles’ finest film. It wasn’t just his extraordinary vision and how he instructed his collaborators as to how the scenes should look and play out, but also the incredible lighting and depth of field from the one and only Gregg Tolland. Cinematographers arguably have the most difficult job in film. To actually make it look good on both cinema and TV screens, but more so cinema of course.

This is easily a Flawless Masterpiece. The emotions I felt while watching it as a 14 year old boy and then Re-watching it as an Adult I wouldn't able to explain in words. It's a powerful picture that was heavily snubbed at the Oscars! This is Sergio Leone Masterpiece! I also love the ending so much, its arguably the greatest ending to any movie ever! If you have never watched this film before I recommend that you check it out, make sure to have a lot of spare time as this film is nearly 4 hours long but it's worth every second. Obviously you could cut it down to episodes but I wouldn't recommend doing that, its a type of experience that you just have to sit through till the end. It hits differently if you pause the film and then come back to it later, it just doesn't work the same way at least in my opinion.

This film has to have some of the most beautiful cinematography of any crime film I’ve ever seen, heck, probably any film period. The way Leone so epically recreates New York in the three time periods with their various differences and similarities coupled with the almost dreamlike atmosphere of the entire production it’s a truly beautiful film and probably one of the best films ever made, for my money.
Tonino Delli Colli (who also shot Once Upon A Time In The West and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly for Leone) really does not get enough credit for having shot several of the most beautiful films in history.

I first saw this as a teen, and instantly fell in love with the young Deborah.
And then later on, in the car...I just...there's no way to describe the level of anger I felt. I wanted to kill Noodles myself. Seeing another character in the movie do it just wasn't good enough. I wanted MY hands to take his last breath. You know a movie is powerful when it triggers that kind of emotional response!

This movie when finished was 10 hours long and then cut to the theater version of a little over 2 hours which ruined it.
The critics panned it as it was made so that it really had no story.
It should be brought back as the 10 hour series.
    Reedited to its full length.
It is so good that it could still stand on its own and become one of the best series EVER.
I think all the stars are still alive.

The beauty and uniqueness of Leone
Is that he always wanted the actor to express the human insight of the character
And this is totally different from acting
Example is the way Bronson and Fonda played the role in the most iconic western of all times”once upon a time in the west”
