    Hi, since it's been 2 years, how would you say these cbn stones stack up against the Venev Diamond Stones, for sharpening good, hard super steels?

    Hi Michael, thanks for your videos. Would you review some of the Sigma Select II stones? Those are more like regular water stones, but according to the manufacturer suited for tough-to-grind metals. The general consensus seems to be that they work as advertised.

      Michael Christy the reason they work well is because the abrasive is sic you can find cheaper sic stones from gritomatic they can sharpen maxamet like nothing you can pick up a set from them in edge pro format for I think 60 bucks

  • @corismsyn

    If the stone is already 1-2 micron why do you go back to 4 micron when stropping?

    • @michaelchristy4982
      @michaelchristy4982  Před 5 lety +3

      corismsyn for burr removal. Besides, strops don’t cut the same as a stone. People think they’re comparing apples to apples with the grit rating, but that’s wrong.

    • @corismsyn
      @corismsyn Před 5 lety +1

      @@michaelchristy4982 thanks. I kinda thought so that that was the case. I was just surprised that even with a 1-2 micron stone you have to go back as high as 4 micron with strop.

    • @michaelchristy4982
      @michaelchristy4982  Před 5 lety

      I dont have cbn resin stones but i have venev orion series set and i have ED DM stones in 2300#&4000# and i can only warmly recomend venev set (They are half the price DM stones and 2the thickness of diamond layer) These are probably same or better idk but not worth the twice the cost cause Practical Sharpening is from Denmark and 1 resin cbn stone will cost you 80€=100$ cause of tax and shipping and it just makes no sense at all cause after venev 1200ocb you take 3micron and 1micron strop and the edge is absolute mirror.. This set shown here would cost you 400-500$ including shipping and tax vs venev 220+50ups shipping... Yes its great to have them for free but not buy them for the insane price

      @@michaelchristy4982 Im not yelling Michael🙏 Im just adding the information that i have to provide other viewers, thats all.. But it is correct , they order the plates and then re-sell.. They even ship them in the original packaging with Poltava logo... The exclamation marks wasnt meant that way but to point that its fact.. Why so offensive? Btw im not native english speaker so if i wrote it without exclamation marks would change what exactly? And i point that out cause noone else did, maybe others would like to know and thst comment wasnt really meant for you but just info on air!
