I love the fact that Bravely Default (JP original) and Bravely Default (western release) are both incorporated into the story, because the JP version didn't have the SP Hourglass, whereas the western release did, and it all gets tied up at the end of Bravely Second (Trying to be vague to avoid spoilers).
Bravely Default’s final boss theme acts as a remix of the most important songs from the game, songs such as “Wicked Battle,” “Wicked Flight,” and “Horizon of Light and Shadow” play in the first half of the song, and as the fight proceeds, more songs play until the fifth and final phase of the fight. During this point, the themes of the four main characters, the Warriors of Light play. Revo, a composer who has a deep understanding of the emotional power of music, decided to play the party’s themes at the end of the battle on purpose, as during this battle the player is worn down and slowly loses all their friend summons, their Magic Points, and their Hit Points; in the final phase, they are at death’s door, that’s when Tiz’s theme plays, followed by Agnés’, Edea’s, and finally Ringabel’s. This sequence will pump the player up, as these songs are only used when the characters are at their most powerful, and that is an amazing use of conditioning the player. This is immediately followed by the leitmotif of “Overture Leading to Hope” and finally a bit of the song “Victory’s Chime” which plays at the end of a battle. These songs are used to show the player that they are in the final stretch, and they just need to “Brave” a bit more.

You need to play it! I promise you wont be disapointed(well maybe by the loop chapters, they are a bit lame), however this is still the best rpg I ever played period simply because the OST is godlike, the characters are so likeable(even the villains) and the battle system is so much fun.
4:27 and so forth is when the song is at its best. The music sounds like as if two sides are trying to over power the other at the start before finally the hero’s main osts kicks in, meaning they won.
Yes! never played the game but the music slaps. Like you said, it's two sides at a standstill in the eye of the storm. They cannot let up nor stop advancing. Both sides waiting for an opportunity to deliver a decisive blow, and turning the tides in their favor. The payoff being 4:40 where our protagonists finally find their footing, seize the opportunity to the absolute limit, and don't leave any room for the other side to counterattack. A collaboration of several forces of good working together against an evil. It's beautiful
I like how the music descend into chaos at the start of your timestamp and then dramatically shifts to Tiz's pretty sounding theme. It's a good job of conveying a transition of mood and emotion.
@@LonesomeKrow The cool thing about this game is you fight the final boss in 5 phases through one battle and through each phase the music loops until you reach the next phase so it slowly unfolds with your progress in the fight. So at the point timestamped is the point in battle you are weak and worn out and spent a lot of your magics and summons. Then when you do enough damage to get to the 5th and final phase is when the music shifts to hype you up that you're nearly done. This battle took me 10-15 mins to complete iiirc so it is somewhat long so it was nice to have a long ever changing music to go with it. It really enforces the feeling of intensity all the while you are trying to make strategic choices not to die.
@@chrisofstars It truly is empowering. And it elevates it even more at 5:20 after the 4 main characters theme. I have no words, I almost teared up while playing that part, it just keeps getting better. Just WOW. I've finished this game 3 weeks ago and I kept coming back here man. Revo is a genius

When you could've won by continuing to heal your competent servant, but lost because you ate her. Seriously, Airy would've just outlasted the party if that happened.
It's good for sure on it's own, but the final boss experience as a whole is lacking compared to Ouroboros. Against Ouroboros you rally an entire world and even multitudes of it in a high stake fight to save the game universe (and to some extent the Celestial Realm a.k.a. the real world too). Against BD2's final boss, you're fighting an ancient evil no one even knows about even at that point in the game, and if you die doing it nobody would probably miss you. The asterisk bosses don't rally behind you. No one does, really. It's miserable and anti-climatic.
@@straypaper Did you want them to copy paste the same thing from BD1? A lot of JRPG's are normally like that where it's just the heroes facing off against the final boss on their own so what makes this miserable?
Dude. This game was the one into covid for comfort, and because I was first curious, I made my goal of finding the final chapter. Imagine my surprise when I saw the characters actually Crack in the illusion of the loop at the same time I was
This battle is epic not just for the music but also for lore. If the heroes fail, all worlds will fall to Ouroboros. Including OURS (as the Celestial Realm). It truly makes it feel like everything rides on this last battle, and on you and the heroes to work together to stop Oruoboros once and for all.
Am I the only one that notices the Final Fantasy bass line playing in the background? Kind of a cool callback to the mainline FF titles of the 90s by Revo, considering that BD was viewed by the dev team as a spiritual successor to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light for the DS.

@Iwannaplayssbb idk man, a bunch of bd ost videos were deleted
octopath traveler's ost got gutted as well
@Iwannaplayssbb Square Enix started copyright striking all of their music on CZcams because they're starting to put it on Spotify.
Never gonna buy a Square Enix product for the rest of my life, that's for sure. They could have just monetized the videos for themselves. I don't even use Spotify.
@@evanmcneil6018
Well at least the artists will reap the rewards of their hard work now (and maybe more profitable too?). Btw, I can't seem to find Bravely default on Spotify, any links?
I wish these games got remastered and released on Steam. It's unfair being locked in 3DS.
Yeah, but this game had quite a bunch of 3DS exclusive mechanics like the use of both screens or the camera.
I’m really hoping for a remaster on the switch’s successor
Wait until you find out about roms
@@coolname7947 It's not the same
I swear, I didn't play the game but I probably listened to this a hundred times, it's just too good.
Same here.
You should totally play the game
I keep telling myself I will play, but I'd think I'd rather listen to this 1000 more times. What a S-Tier unqualified masterpiece.
highly recommended

This is the only thing I remember from the old comments section. It's not my idea but I felt like posting it here seeing as I can't find the other comments.
"He killed his father's people!"
"He killed his mother too!"
"His mommy, is David!"
"Oh God, there's blood all over!"
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yeah I miss him too.....
Oh lord, I just heard the part
It's been three years and I still can't unhear it
I did my take on the next one:
"He killed his father's compass!"
“He killed his mother’s heart”
“He killed them! He killed them!”
“Oh God, there’s blood all over!”
Wait, I don’t get it?
Is it related to the game?
Oh my god I finished this game for the first time last night. It was so fucking good and I've never been one for jrpgs. Wish I could erase my memory and replay it.
Me too
i finished 2 years ago and is fresh in my memory the change in the title
I fucking loved this game, and the second, the third so far is more of the same but I'm enjoying it NGL
Professional long-time gamer here; just wait five years. You’ll play it again and it’ll feel surprisingly new. Just replayed Ōkami for the first time in probably ten years and it was like I was playing it for the first time 😊
funnymeme I’m sorry but your profile picture made me burst into laughter while hearing the song
Never played the game but this is a straight banger🔥
You need to play it!
I promise you wont be disapointed(well maybe by the loop chapters, they are a bit lame), however this is still the best rpg I ever played period simply because the OST is godlike, the characters are so likeable(even the villains) and the battle system is so much fun.
Agreed
@@bandicootsmwcentral2950 what game tho
@@ghazapanca5002 Bravely default
Play it, brother. It's one of the best RPG. FF6 got nothing compared to this masterpiece.
You thought... you could have a boss theme? No. This is OUR theme!
The real final boss was all the friends we made along the way
Choir be like:
HOLY
SHITBALLS
OH HOLY SHITBALLS
Y u do dis 2 me
Can’t unhear now.
The google translate decided this is Holly winter balls.
I bought this soundtrack for the 3DS and it came with an awesome game.
One of the best final boss themes of all time
This is easily the most epic final boss theme in any RPG!! And I played a TON of them!! This even beats One Winged Angel in my opinion!
The original title is "地平を喰らう蛇"
"地平" means horizon. Not ground or dirt.
Blame Treehouse that stupid ass translation studio Nintendo America pushed
That a reference to Adophis?
Serpent Eating the Ground is incredibly evocative though.
Well if we're going to be technical, for the trio of the loki tree, the sky is the ground.
Serpent devours the horizon sounds better but Serpent devouring the Earth is still pretty bad ass. Makes me think of Yormungr on Ragnarok.
3:00 should have been a lot longer.
It's magnificent.
I agree!
Underrated part
Sounds like Touhou.
This is up there with One Winged Angel as one of the best final boss themes ever.
And dont forget dancing mad
And "the battle for everyone soul"
One wing angel is a trip to the pooper though :)
Also up in this League: "Sonic 06 - Solaris Phase 2", "Lufia II - Sinistral Battle / The Saviour", "Smash Bros. Ultimate - Ghaleem & Darkon United Theme", "Trine 2 - The Giant Dragon" and so many many more
And don't forget "Lord of a dead empire"
It is December 31st, 2020, you and all your mates are celebrating the end of this horrendous year. You all count down the final 10 seconds, hopeful that 2021 will be a better year. You all jump in celebration as the timer hits 0. Everything is well, until you notice the date. It says December 32nd, 2020 and you suddenly start hearing this music play. What do you do?
Die?
Stab a a big snake with a magical sword.
Grab emergency gun
I am reading this Dec 31st... the time is currently 10:39pm (22:39)...we'll see what happens...
EDIT- I can now safely decree that it is indeed past midnight...and Jan 1st 2021. We have avoided disaster. Good job everyone. 😁
Scream "BRAVELY SECOND" at the top of my lungs
6:22 That guitar solo is killing it badass

this game really needs a remake for the Switch.
When you could've won by continuing to heal your competent servant, but lost because you ate her. Seriously, Airy would've just outlasted the party if that happened.

Not sure if this is what you meant but here's a recording of the Bravely Default concert from 2013 czcams.com/video/ZDrp0k-11lM/video.html
Idk why but the beginning of this theme always reminds me of "The Court of the Crimson King"
And near the end (before the breakdown or whatever it's called) reminds me of Encounter - Cynthia
I love how this song is like 20 songs in 1
That’s how Revo writes songs, all of his songs from sound horizon are the same
I’m sure this game is beyond incredible, but whenever I hear this song I can only think of one thing: Bianca and her Zekrom, Raikou and Zapdos.
Ah yes, the pokemon black (2? It's been a while since I've seen it) nuzlocke

I love it this Final Boss OST
Thank you for the very informative video description.
"What other songs from throughout the game to you want to reference in the final boss theme?"
"Yes."
makes me wonder what Bravely Default II's final boss theme is going to sound like, I am so excited
I know, I can't wait!
Same composer (Revo), so it should be a banger.
It's a banger. Absolute banger.

This battle is epic not just for the music but also for lore. If the heroes fail, all worlds will fall to Ouroboros. Including OURS (as the Celestial Realm). It truly makes it feel like everything rides on this last battle, and on you and the heroes to work together to stop Oruoboros once and for all.

Kind of a cool callback to the mainline FF titles of the 90s by Revo, considering that BD was viewed by the dev team as a spiritual successor to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light for the DS.

It's a shame you don't really hear this theme very much, because the boss fight is so demanding that you're forced to constantly cycle through your various ultimates to keep the buffs up.
