Blueair 311 Auto on Amazon: geni.us/aBNdi
I’m loving these air purifier reviews! Keep it up!
Nice! Thanks!
I’ve been using the 311 Auto since October 2020. It’s awesome. I now own 3 of them. And I also have 2 Blue Air 211’s and a Blue Air 121 in my house. They’re very quiet and the air throughput is beastly. Don’t make the mistake of buying the 211 Auto. It uses an alternate blower style fan has a horrible noise to it. Buy the standard 211, non-auto.
Great to see another air purifier test.
Thanks.
I have a couple of their classic 205’s (non auto) in my kids’ rooms and they work really well. Love Blueair!
Cool! I have two of these in my house for about over a year now. Nice to know it’s a good one according to you 🤓😁
Can you please review the Winix 5500-2? I've seen so many recommendations for this air purifier and would love to see how it compares with the others and where you'd rank it.
The winix is better.
The Winix sold at Costco?
@@midlifemom5829 Sure, Costco probably has slightly different models. Biggest difference Ive seen in some winix models come with carbon coated sheet as opposed to pelleted carbon which has far more capacity.
I do like my Winix, you can buy 3rd party filters which are much cheaper but same quality. As well as it has a patented tech that I haven't seen similar elsewhere.
I also have the Winix and so far have no complaints. The washable carbon filter is nice to have over all of the disposable ones. I'd still like to see how it performs compared to the others in his tests since this one seems to be everyone's top choice
I'm a total nut for Blueair HEPA filters and I have two 7470i and one 7770i HEPA filters. The carbon filtering on the health protect models is way more intense. It's kind of unfortunate to see such a lackluster carbon filter on the 311 auto as I was considering one for when I occasionally do Lyft here in Chicago. The carbon filter is probably still more than enough for what it is but it is pretty disappointing. Great video as always :)
I have a 211 and I absolutely love it for all the same reasons. It performs just the same as your review, but can handle my entire living room and kitchen, even when cooking particularly smokey foods. The filter replacement on the 211 is also easier since the external pre filter doesn't need to be removed to do so.
nice product. having an air purifier plus daily quick vacuum of the house results to less dust in hard to reach places. My desktop PC almost don't need yearly dusting since there is little dust.
Nice video. I might get one of these for my bathroom. I currently use the Medify MA-14 in my bathroom. Not a huge fan of it.
But I like my Orsani for the house. Would love to see how it compares to others.
Would definitely like to see a comparison with the Winix 5500-2, I'm looking to buy my first air purifier for a condo soon :)
thank you for great review
Really happy to see this thorough review - I just ordered one for my bedroom. Would you recommend using them in multiple areas of the house? My home is only about 1k sq ft.
I have the 211. The outer dust filter is significantly easier to change compared to the 311. My only gripe is how bright the power light is, even on the 'dark' setting.
Interesting! Might I humbly suggest you test the Winix 5500-2? It has been my go-to unit for the last few years because it includes a filter of activated carbon pellets, not just a treated mesh like material. I have seen it as low as $120 but it is around $150 now, still very affordable compared to most purifiers with activated carbon pellet filters. It also has a "PlasmaWave" function that I believe is a UV light to kill germs/viruses. I am dubious how effective that feature is but you can turn it off. This unit also has a remote control, which is nice. I would love to see how your testing evaluates this machine.
This is an outstanding model. Plasmawave is not UV. It "destroys" molecules or something. Don't bother with it, I always just turn this off.
UV lights in air purifiers typically aren't effective because the exposure time is not significant enough.
Indeed, UV lights are a dubious feature because for some reason they often try to clean the air using one, but in theory it could be useful for keeping older filters clean as they start to accumulate viruses or bacteria and it's actually crucial for a certain type of Titanium dioxide filters.
I always enjoy watching your video's Thanks to you i got myself a Bissel crosswave pet Pro(corded) and for only 250 Bucks on amazon France i enjoyed using it on my hard floors i also got some extra had floor rollers and filters :-)
We have the AM80 for our living room and A230 for the bedroom. Both have Plasmawave which I guess uses electrical pulses to create both "positive and negative ions" to break apart chemical bonds including viruses. This is different than negative ion generator/ionizer that most purifiers use. They claim less ozone is created. I don't know how much there is to this or how one would go about testing it?
Ultimate air purifier comparison when?
I have the 411 in my bedroom, seems to work well. You should review the Mila air purifier!
Please do the dust magnet by blue are as well. I just bought one and want to know it preforms similar!
Your reviews are great however I think Power consumption would be a nice metric to add.
I was wondering if air conditioning filters air are efficient. Test the Mitsubishi quad connect ionizer
Wow! I was looking at this but I already have a Dyson HP07 but maybe a blue air for my living room?
Another great video
Thank you!
Can you do a review on the wyze air purifier? Design is pretty similar, could be a good comparison
I have the 411 without the auto feature and it has a feature where if there is a power surge or the power turns off, it remembers it's last power mode it was on.
Would you choose this over the Shark purifier? I’m still leaning towards the shark.
Where does the emviroklenz stand amongst all of your more recent air purifier reviews? I bought one because of your video and have been wondering why it has not been listed. Love your channel please keep it up!
What is the best one that money can buy if price isn't an issue based on your test?
Could you review the Procsceinc A9. It has a very high CDAR rating and all the other features at a low cost
I noticed that in most of the charts you don't have Conway air mega in the comparisons. And I am actually debating which to buy between the two.
I bought the big one (211i) but I think I should exchange it for the 311i. I have a large open concept room with 30ft of floor-to-ceiling windows. Any thoughts?
I have the blueair 211+ in my bedroom and have been waking up with headaches since I started using it?? I was hoping it would help my bedroom smell a little less like dog and help my allergies but it hasn’t helped at all 😭 my bedroom is very clean, zero clutter and I wash the bedding at least twice a week but have a Great Dane that sleeps on her bed on the floor
I have noticed on auto mode on it does a pulse up and down on fan speed. Kinda sounds like a breeze outside.
Could you review the venta air washer?
I have this air purifier and love it! However I also use my fan almost daily at night and my purifier is on 24/7 so I am considering the shark 3 in 1 with Hepa. Hopefully you have plans to review this one soon!
Thanks for sharing!
I went from BlueAir411 to Levoit to avoid changing the kinda tedious air filter inside replacement and washing the debris net. The Levoit with WiFi version was not desired but now I realize how much I need it.
Now I know how much replacement filters cost. I just need to make more $
Same here. I love having the routines schedule to work, for example, only at night time, on my son's bedroom...
Thank you for review! Could u do a comparison review on portable upholstery/carpet cleaner by Bissel v Hoover? I appreciate your channel!
Thanks! We cant make any promises, but thank you for the suggestion!
That's rather interesting to see how strong it performs with such a low airflow. I feel like something must be different in it's filtration abilities to do so much with so little airflow.
That does beg the question however, how it's longevity will be. I imagine it has a recommended replacement schedule but I do wonder how well it performs near the end of the replacement schedule. Although, I'm sure that kind of thing is much harder to test.
Excellent point btw...I wonder how do they calculate the filter life....Its the same as getting rid of your Gas/Fuel gauge in your car and replacing it with a calendar! absolutely bonkers! But sadly, as its an unregulated industry, its what you get
Amazingly well done review as always! Sadly, as I am from EU, it's not always easy or even possible to buy most of the items that are reviewed here. I have a request - would it be possible for you to review the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 (it comes in 3 sizes), because as far as air purifier go, I can either buy some non brand stuff, Philips or Xiaomi, and the best I can find on the internet about the Xiaomi purifiers is more of a overview of the product and not exactly a extensive review and comparison with it's competitors. I really would like to avoid going through the hassle of importing the Coway 😞. Thanks and keep up the amazing work!
Just fyi, the brand Blueair is Swedish.
How do you rate this vrs the Shark with the 4 fans?
Please do the blue air 211. It says their ionizer technology with their filter beats the regular hepa
Is there a model with washable filter? Home or car
Ii would have no other air filter! I now own three... last one is the dust magnet... I just got this one and have not seen the reduction in dust yet... but it did a GREAT job at cutting cig smoke from next door. I live in a townhouse and the neighbor sits out there and smokes these absolutely vile Russian cigs... my house would stink for hours. Yesterday, the dust magnet took care of it in less than 10 minutes! I live in AZ so will see how the dust thing goes... I just may buy another!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve had the base 311 for years and I’ve loved it. Primarily use it to deodorize the cat room.
that is great to hear! Thanks!
Good Transition now you can test the ECOVACS Z1
That would be great! We are hoping it releases in the US.
How about a review of the Wyze Air Purifier?
I am confused, on the blue site (in the Netherlands) I see the 411 and 211, but they look different than the ones in the video here. And they don't have the 311 which I am looking for; I do see the Blue 3210 which looks like it, same features and almost the same numbers, but doesn't say auto, etc. and the filters are like the 411.. Why is this so confusing.. oof.
Can you please start testing canister vacuums
How many CFMs does this have?
Nice 😃
Thanks!
IMHO it should have been mentioned whether it, or the competitors has and uses an onboard UV light to kill bacteria and airborne viruses. I shop for air filters that have a UV light and would like to know that. Great video - thumbs up 👍
you want to live in a sterile laboratory or what?
UV lights in air purifiers are typically not effective because the exposure time is too low.
Good thought. Thank you!
UV light in this sort of application does nothing. There’s also no point to “kill” viruses and bacteria when they’re simply being trapped by the filter anyway.
Can you please test the RabbitAir?
Love these reviews! To be fair, I view everything through the lens of my 6 cats. I see this first getting plugged by airborne cat hair way before the filters plug. Plus this looks like so many of my cat scratchers that I'm pretty sure it wouldn't last long without them "getting their paws" on it. Sigh...I get that most people just think cats are not worth considering in household goods but seriously... I'm sick of it. Too bad but I'll keep my Renoits and wait to see if the next one checks the pet friendly box. Looks like a pretty good one though. Thanks for all you do, smiles and blessings...
I have 2 long hair cats and I have this exact air purifier in the master bedroom, where the cats regularly sleep with us and we have a ton of dust from all the clothes and linens in the room, not to mention the high pile carpet. It's been over a year and I still don't feel the need to replace the HEPA filter anytime soon. The outer fabric cover does a really good job of catching the vast majority of stuff, including cat hair. I just hand wash it every couple month. Also, my cats like to scratch everything but haven't showed any interest in the air purifier, presumably because they don't like the wind and noise it makes.
@@OneMoreTank That's great! I'd need this in the main part of my house, mostly hard floors, and my felines claw the AC window units...lol... so... it's always dependant on the cats, I would say at least 1/2 the cats out there will use it as a scratch post... as only 4 of my cats are unafraid of windy/noisey machines. I thought the same, in that the cover may be great for filtering the hair fluff, but then he said it was such a pain to get off and on and I said no thanks. Life is hard enough without fighting the cover on a machine that's likely to get plugged (especially during shedding season) at least once a week. Hard floors keep pet hair floating around with the slightest breeze. I vacuum every other day and it's still awful. Cats play with robo-vacs, and ruin them so... you see the dilemma. 🙃
Do IKEA products yo!
don't have the blue air but do have the trusens z3000
some of the marketing footage while talking about the pros made it feel like an ad. 😅
It's not!
Shark just released the Hydrovac! I need to see it compared to the Tinco! Why does Shark always wait until I buy something to release their own! lol Well really I bought the Tinco for my mom but now I want to see the Hydrovac for me.
Our Hydrovac review drops today at 4 EST!
@@VacuumWars WOOHOO, just got home, watching now!! Thank you!
Investigate 311.
Any air filter worth a turd must have a Uber light and incorporate carbon into its filtration.
“That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it”
Interesting to see that the brand has moved on to products that actually work as advertised. From what I knew of their first few products, they were a scam company who did the usual lying advertising.
3rd
No carbon pellets = no go for me.
HEPA Silent? Sounds like marketing speak for something that isn't a real HEPA filter.
early
Putting a purifier in a confined space (your box) where it’s able to reduce the particulates by recirculating the air of the small space repeatedly is NOT a realistic test. Measure the time it removes particulates but have the vent exit the box so it can’t recirculate the air over and over. Also please indicate if the sensor detects odours or VOC. Any purifier can detect PM but few can react automatically to gases and odours.
It's not supposed to be a "realistic test", the box test measures relative to other filters under the same conditions it's ability to remove particals, the room testing is more realistic and as you can clearly see the results are correlated. Also it obviously doesn't measure VOCs, not sure any electronic system can measure that and any system that claims to is stretching the truth, there's millions of different VOCs, how are you going to measure all of these complex compounds with anything short of expensive, large and complicated machines. At most you can test for a couple of classes of compounds but that's useless, because you could have very few of one class of VOC and lots of other types
@@antimatter4733 both Sharp and Dyson have integrated VOC and even Formaldehyde sensors. The truth is no purifier should claim to address VOC if it can't react to the presence or fluctuation of VOCs within a space.
Also if it's "not a realistic test" then either make this claim or don't do it. It's misleading and biases the review.
@@CoolTies those VOC sensors can detect every possible VOC? No? So they're a useless marketing stunt. Just open a window 🤣
Also you completely missed the point in my previous comment, he never claimed that test was realistic. You're doing the equivalent of complaining about the suction tests on vacuums being unrealistic. It doesn't have to be realistic to provide information and value. Realistic means different things to everyone, he's providing raw data, in this case how quickly it filters air, which can then be applied to rank filters from best to worst in a much more objective way then putting them in an uncontrolled environment, which is realistic but imo provides less value
@@antimatter4733 wouldn’t it just be better to create a test which IS realistic and then rank them against each other? If it’s not realistic then some units might have an advantage because they are better suited to a false test result. But then this has always been the argument for why CADR isn’t a valid way to measure purification performance.
@@CoolTies these sensors have been shown to be barely more accurate than guessing in other videos
