- Barbara Walters joined the ladies at The View on ABC for her last day as co-host today. The journalist filmed her final appearance on the ABC daytime talk show Thursday afternoon in Manhattan, with Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Clinton among the surprise guests who showed up to say goodbye.
After more than 50 years in TV news, Walters is officially retiring, leaving her co-hosting gig on The View, but she'll continue to serve as the show's executive producer and contribute to ABC News on an as-needed basis.

That parade of female professionals truly was Barbara's legacy. She was a trailblazer in the truest sense of the word.
Just seeing this really brought that home and gave real meaning to the word “trailblazer”. I am floored. Wow. 🥹
Excellent
Oh shut up lol your pathetic
She was married 4 times to 3 men, had a long running affair with a US Senator while both were married, could not sustain a marriage, and died alone.
The archetypal feminist.
Not a role model from a modern perspective and narratives being exposed and reappraised.
The Boomer Culture is being reappraised with a massive number of negative conclusions about it.
I absolutely LOVE when someone is given their “flowers” while they are alive to enjoy them. God bless Barbara Walters!
I came back to watch this again and you’re so right. No one is promised tomorrow so love them while they’re here, today…
Yep as my grandmother would say "Give me my flowers while I can smell them"..
That was a lot of heavy hitters on one stage. These women have truly upheld the legacy of Barbara Walters!
What an incredible way to go out.
SHE DID IT HER WAY!!!
Lol only what ABC LET her do
RIP Barbara Walters - an inimitable talent and presence.
RIP Barbara, my childhood is starting to leave faster and faster and it's getting real getting older! She was the BEST! I remember watching her in the background while eating dinner and my mom talking or cleaning while she was interviewing someone important at the time... what a time to be alive!
Same. Life goes by so fast.
same here. wow. makes this adult thing more real each time one of these go.
Exactly how I feel. RIP Barbara Walters.
Alright, show of hands. How many of you have come back to watch this video after Barbara Walters died? I did. #ripbarbarawalters
Same c
I did to
Yes. I never saw this finale but saw a clip of it when they announced her passing and wanted to watch. What a retirement sendoff. She lived a wonderful life and did exactly what she loved doing. Even if we don't find fame or fortune, we should all do the same. Getting to the end of your life knowing you went for it must be a very satisfying way to go out.
This was truly an iconic moment on television for women journalists & news reporters. She paved the way for each of you. That was awesome to see them all say thank you. A life well lived, may you Rest in Heaven, Ms. Walters 🕊️🌹
I've never known a world without Barbara Walters in the lead of every newsworthy person. Rest peacefully, Barbara. Love you.
RIP to Barbara Walters, she died at 93 yrs old, but her spirit and journalism live on...
Seeing Whoopi and Oprah on stage together is like a mini The Color Purple reunion for me.
Hey Whoops!
It could be....it could be not. Who's to say?🤣
@@CM-nh1jw YES!! Hahaha she was so polite n gracious to everybody then outta character "hey whoops" lol
Yuc
That was my first thought too!!
“This is my legacy” love Barbara forever 🖤
I always loved Gilda Radner's impression of Barbara! Hope she's on the beach somewhere having martini! Love you Barbara!
Watched this following her passing. Cried given her legacy and all that she achieved. Oprah should have interviewed her. From one trailblazer to another.
RIP Barbara. 🙏
Thank you.
Oprah could have done that but she wanted it to be Barbara’s day and that was so classy!
8 years later and I came back to watch this. The love & inspiration was felt greatly. Truly a woman of who served as the GOLD STANDARD! Truly a legend who created an impressive legacy 🙏🏾✨
In her final words, she doesn't mention anything about a family...ie. usually you thank people in your life outside of your professional colleagues.
Whether you liked Barbara or hated her, she was the first female news broadcaster in history. She broke through the male bastion. For that, I give her credit. She's a tough, opinionated woman who had guts.
Lynnie: my mother was the first female news broadcaster on the CBS local Los Angels she only did it three months because she was pregnant with my brother in 1960 and in those days you could get fired for being pregnant! BW was the first on national/international TV news
@@TheMarapasa what's her name?
She still had to share the anchor desk with Harry Reasoner. The first woman to be a solo anchor of a national news broadcast was Katie Couric.
As a male I respect that
I’ll never forget what John Wayne told Barbara….speaking about her male counterparts….”don’t let the bastards let you down, honey!”
Rest In Peace Barbara Walters. You were a great trailblazer. You brought so many from such diverse backgrounds together.
This is what empowerment, regardless of gender, looks like. RIP Barbara and so glad you got to see the fruits of your labor before you passed from this existence. As you take your next step into the next existence, know that your presence enriched and made this one better. ❤🙏
What an incredible moment to see all those women there to pay their respects. It was amazing, R.I.P. Barbara. You were a legend.
I fell asleep many nights hearing Barbara Walters voice, down the hall on the TV at my grandma's house. ♥️ Then, I got to enjoy her specials as a young adult. What an amazing career!
RIP Barbara. What a fitting tribute for an amazing woman.
It's amazing when women celebrate each other's 💞
Muna Hassan For Sure! 🥰🌹
That is NOT the norm! You would have seen the back stabbing and fighting if they were all black!
@ Lies you bigoted bitch and I'm Mexican.
Some ladies who said farewell to Barbara now works in CBS News, ABC News and NBC News. This is a very wonderful moment in the history of daytime and primetime television.
And three of those ladies were former View co hosts themselves.
"And when all of that is done, I can take a deep breath, and enjoy my view" Beautiful !
Wow Wow Wow! This is what you get when you respect your job and yourself so much.
I remember watching this when it first aired and now after her passing, going back and watching this it hits differently. Simply saying she's an icon or a legend isn't enough to describe what Barbara meant to lots of women, myself included. May her legacy forever live on throughout all the women in television. May you rest in heaven Barbara Walters ❤️💜❤️💜.
GOODBYE BARBARA WALTERS WE WILL MISS YOU TOO. 1929-2022.
So incredibly cool to see that Barbara received her flowers from all of the amazing women who followed in her footsteps. RIP
The crowd erupted when Connie came on!!!! Both legends.
Not as much as for Meredith Viera
@@rah62 no
Yes ! Barbara Walters and Connie Chung, both pioneers in journalism.
Barbara for all women in journalism and Connie Chung, the first Asian-Chinese female Journalist on the air. Now there are a number of Asian female journalists on the air. Love these two famous female journalists.
@@tiffyjade690 I agree, Connie is the second-most legendary broadcaster on that stage in the clip (she leaves Meredith Viera in the dust!). She deserves a similar grand accolade/celebration.
Just thinking I’m 41 years old and I’ve had the privilege of watching all these women on tv doing their jobs at the top of the game, now that’s something kids today can’t say.
THE END OF AN ERA
Wow, from Diane Sawyer to Jane Pauley to Joan London to Connie Chung to Cynthia MacFadden......AMAZING!!!
When Oprah started calling out all the journalists names like bingo number, I was waiting for her to yell 'Bingo!' or 'everybody is getting a car!' Barbara was so touched. This was a great way of thanking her for what she did for women on television. Whether some like or not her career path, she did a lot of very ground breaking things for women and television.
I was expecting to yell "gaaaayle, fix the biblioteca"
She was a pioneer. She put up with a lot of sh*t just because she was a woman, yet she still managed to forge an indelible career in a very difficult business. RESPECT!
I don't understand why The View doesn't have this available on their CZcams channel.... like it seems like a no brainer.
That was one of the most beautiful things I have seen on television .
Me: Avengers Infinity Wars is the most ambitious crossover of all time
The View: Hold my beer.
Hahahahaha
Love the respect they gave her
I am seeing this for the first time. It was a tear-jerker. Barbara was 85yrs young, when she retired from The View. RIP, TV Journalist, Humble, Gracious, Woman Pioneer. IJN. 👸🛐🌺🖥

WOW - WHAT AN AMAZING MOMENT WITH ALL THOSE WOMEN ON STAGE.
such reverence such a time in history.
I think it really says a lot that Babara's impact was big enough to bring women across every major network who might otherwise never dare to appear on an ABC affiliated show.
RIP BARBARA! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! YOU BROKE BARRIERS FOR SURE! WE WILL MISS YOU!
Barbara turn 90 many Blessing

I have tears in my eyes. As a woman....I'm so proud of that!
Oprah is sooo good..her speech to Barb was amazingggg
I've never been prouder of being a woman when I watched this.
Not a big accomplishment to be proud about
@@Brandespada i'm sure you don't have many things to be proud about
@@Alicegab300 I do have some accomplishments in life to be proud about, but being or not being a woman is not one of them. Anyway, I know it's useless to talk sense to a feminist.
Barbara got so happy and surprised when Oprah appeard!
THAT was IN-CRE-DI-BLE!!! Thank God for Barbara and her stamina and perseverance, and just being Good! Credible. She's earned the respect from all of these other greats...it's amazing to see them all pay homage to Barbara. Well done!!

So happy and proud to have gotten a Hand written letter from Batbara Walters ♥️
I do respect and admire Barbara and Oprah.
I respect Barbara but no way will I ever have any respect that racist bitch Oprah or whoppi or Joy
@@cathybernard3325 After what she did to Michael Jackson?
