  • fine tune the siding around the newly installed, new construction window. there is plenty of siding there after my initial cut to expose the old nailing flange
please listen carefully to what I'm saying about the metal particles...bon

Nice install (done right) - those other pocket window installations with foam and aluminum capping is criminal -

I am wondering what you did to secure the edge of the vinyl siding after cutting it back. If you used J how did you secure it?

Hi Nelson, new j channel was used, normally I sneak stainless steel trim nails in from inside the channel straight into the new 5/4 pine, sorry it took so long to get back to you, thank you for watching, I hope this helps, Len

Helpful upload however I have Hardie siding. I have a feeling one day I’ll need to replace my j channel windows. Any tips or advice on how to handle it. Thanks

What if your window does not have a flange? I have a double wide mobile home that just had sheathing and siding installed. We have flashed windows with stretch tape at bottom and window flashing tape in/around window. Trying to figure out how to trim out the windows. We have 1x6 pvc. Siding is up.

Hey you, I have seen vinyl fins made for 3 and 1/4" replacement windows. I'm not an engineer, but I have used windows without flanges before, one thing I did was install screws in the middle of the vinyl window jamb into the wall jamb, one on each side. Maybe you could pop

Johnny, maybe you could pop rivet an aluminum flange on it, you have to use your own discretion...

Do they have to have some kind of flange or can we just tape a trim out?
