- Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel! We had a great weather window in between storms here in Southern California so we took the boat out to check on the local fishing. We drifted live sardines anywhere from 45-125ft of water in search of the elusive California Halibut.
THANKS FOR BEING SO DETAILED ON YOUR SETUP WE ALL APPRICIATE YA 100
Thanks for watching!

I use to do a lot of trolling for halibut out of Port San Luis . We fished commercial . Our best day was 18 legal halibut . We won the halibut derby 1 year . I fished on a 19 ft BW Outrage ! Some of the best fishing days I've ever had!
Thats an epic haul!
You should always use a rubber halibut friendly net. You can see how the net you are using shredded the tail on the first halibut. That can cause an infection and death. Fortunately that one was a keeper. But, never use those style nets if you think you’ll release the halibut.
We were sure this one was a keeper. we normally shake the shorts and if its close I will grab them by the tail.
Stoked I found your channel! You deserve way more followers, sure you’ll break 10k in no time
Thanks for watching appreciate it!
Ate halibut tonight myself. Just love the flavor. Right up there with salmon 🤙

Been following and liking ur videos keep up the great work
Thank you I appreciate that!
That Bonita would be a perfect bait to drift
Delicious
Adam, great video!!! If you end up going to Catalina and anchoring up for the night, could you do a tutorial. I finally got brave enough and took my BW 170 Montauk over twice this year but I'd like to try camping out over there.
That is a great idea, next time I head out there I will definitely give a rundown.
I'd like to see that as well
Jazmin rice 💯 that’s right brother
yessir!
Coors Original...my man.
haha absolutely!
Happy Birthday, Adam! The filleting of the halibut was riveting. I would have enjoyed watching you do the whole fish. The cooked fish looks like restaurant quality, and delicious. Did you make fish broth with the bones and skin?
Thank you so much!
Nice video. Is a size 2/0 offset circle hook too big for halibut? Thanks.
I just match the hook size to the size of the bait I am using.
Where yall fishing
its pronbly just me but i feel like caching halibut just isnt worth it unless it nearing 40 inches yeah u got a decent slab but the bone to flesh ration sucks
Adam, I plan on fishing the area that you're at in this video soon. However, since I'm fairly new to the game and not familiar with fishing laws I'd like to ask if it's legal to be taking fish out of this area since I believe it's a marine conservation area. The fishes in this area is generally big because it's supposed to be protected. LMK thanks.
This was well outside of any conservation areas. make sure you mark them on your gps though just to be sure it is not a cheap ticket.
@@fluentfishing i wouldn’t have known about the marine conservation areas if it wasn’t for Google Earth but they should put floating signs similar to buoys to let people know it’s conservation areas. The area that you guys were in is between 2 marine conservation areas
@@playdirty714 Yea for sure I see people unknowingly fishing in conservation areas all the time. I definitely like to give them a heads up.
Is this the La Jolla area?
Adam what is that sliding t called. thank you
I forget what they are called but if you search sliding fishing snap on amazon they should pop up
What kind of boat do you have?
Parker 1801!
