Man, I’m so happy to see Nixxes is doing the port for Ghost of Tsushima.
The only $ony game im interested in. And Demons Souls Remake.
Me too.. When you look at other Nixxes ports, you know they love the PC, look at the brilliant TR Legend Trilogy port... I actually bought my original ps4pro just to play FW, as i loved ZD on PC... so i have both FW and Ghost on my now PS5, but im a pc gamer at heart and have always.. kind of... struggled with a controller .. Im buying this on PC tomorrow.. Thank you NixxeS
Nixxes deserves all the praise
Leave it to Nixxes to be Sony’s real workhorse rn
Oh right, because porting games is much harder and more time consuming than making the actual games...
@ronniepettway1328 porting is hella hard. Hence, why they hired nixxes for it.....
@@ronniepettway1328 tell that to Iron Galaxy with The Last of Us
@@ronniepettway1328 Nixxes is also adding new features not possible on PS5 on top of unlimited frame rate.
A swing and a miss….
damn an ACTUAL GOOD PC PORT IN MODERN DAY?!
The port is done by Nixxes instead of Iron Galaxies. It is one of the few companies I have no prioblem pre-ordering.
I want to say once a Playstation game comes out on PC its pretty crisp. Ratchet and Clank, all the Spooderman games.
This is immediately reflected in the Steam User Score 90% Positive. And people are not refunding in droves. Not because the game is not good, its mediocre at best. But because its working for everyone who buys it.
This gives me hope the Ghost of Tsushima will be a good port
Unlike the denuvo filled pile of garbage called dragons dogma 2
130 FPS?!? MY EYES! THEY CAN SEE.... EVERYTHING!
Sony buying Nixxes was a smart move. Now if only they would do Bloodborne or the old God of War games.
Yeah 100% agree with you
BLOODBORNE MENTIONED
I want to see the Resistance games, Killzone, Jack and Daxter, and Sly Cooper come to PC.
Man tired of hearing about Bloodborn. It's owned by Sony but created by FromSoft. This makes it much harder to do anything with as both parties have to agree. This is especially rare because Sony promotes the PS5 first, where FromSoft is multiplat focused.
@@peternash7104yeah like a demon souls remake, i dont think it would happen...oh wait
Will buy once the mods that turn down the “Buddha face” slider come out. 😂
Modders: "I can fix her" 😂
You gotta love modders😂❤
How can this be good and even playable without the PS5's magical SSD? 😂
Well I use console only (Xbox SX) and I'd much rather not have to even look up or pay attn to any of these detailed stats - ? Is this something we need to know if we get a PC?
@@violetfem1808 SSD is usually stated in minimum requirement, but most of the time its not exactly needed as the developer still take into account of minimum spec PC Gamers. Starfield for example state that it need SSD to run, but modders somehow figured out that you can just make it run with HDD, just look up Starfield Disc Cache Enabler. Even Ratchet and Clank a game that Sony boast use their high tech SSD don't need it for min requirement on PC (it will freeze for a few second when you transitioning though but not that severe).
It's ok... but if you want the best gaming experience you should play it on a PS5
@@BlueBARv5 lol
@@violetfem1808 yes and no. It depends on the game. Modern games usually put your settings automatically to a level that your game runs well. You can then adjust your settings if you want to but you don't have to (though disable Motion Blur, that stuff sucks).
Older games are hit and miss and way older games you definitely should do it yourself, but they usually run well enough on new PCs when you just set everything to max.
Either way, you would learn how to do it quickly anyway.
I was waiting for this video before buying because of the issues the port of the first game faced. Really happy to hear that its a solid port for your high end system and that makes me confident my slightly older system (3700x and 5700xt) can handle this game pretty well! Been waiting to play this game for years lol
You’ll be somewhat on par to what the PS5 can do
Just got it last night. I have a 7700xt with a 1080p display and this runs flawlessly with everything maxed out. Stays within 80-100 fps at all times without any upscaling 😌👌🏼
Do you think it could maintain 60 at 1080p on medium to high settings with an RTX 2060? (with DLSS on)
Great review and analysis, thank you!
Companies porting games to PC be like:
Iron Galaxy: " I'm sorry..."
Nixxes: "Do not be sorry. Be better"
Bro I will NEVER forget what iron galaxy did to batman arkham knight in 2015 on PC. Top 3 worst PC ports of ALL time.
Great video! Very informative, keep it up man
You must be able to drop like foliage settings and stuff like that and that would increase the frame rate, and you could even go sub 720p if you're in handheld mode.
Hey Alex, playstation Player here, happy to see this game on pc
With more options, can't wait to see ghost of tushima on pc
It would be great, more and more games coming to pc.
I have finished the ghost of Tsushima on ps5, it was great your going to love that game once it comes to pc
Honestly if you like these games you should be happy that more people can play it on the platform that they want
I just finished it on pc and I had a blast with it. Ran flawlessly and didn’t run into any issues. Mouse and keyboard controls feel amazing as well
Thanks for the review, I would like to try it out on my Ally Z1 Extreme to see if it performs better than on my SD OLED.
It really does look incredible and is definitely more horizon w/ some welcome added features.
I'm using a 5800x, 6800xt, and 32gb 3600mhz ram w/ a mixture of high and very high settings native 1440p (no upscaling) and am getting a 90 fps average. Incredible port
Great review, thanks Alex.
Have to agree with you assessment of the game. I myself play with a 5800X3D and 4080, and other than a minor hiccup with a driver issue, the game runs incredibly well and higher resolutions. At lower resolutions, or turning DLSS on I saw CPU usage spike dramatically which is where the driver issue cropped up and required a reboot to clear it. After when i turned on DLSS it resulted in an increase of FPS also, but in turn a higher use on CPU also.
Over all, I'm far happier with this games release on PC than I was with Zero Dawn (of which had numerous crash issues). Other than the occasionally little stutter similar to what is mentioned in the video, the game runs buttery smooth. I was only able to put about 3 hours into the game so far, but I'm looking forward to when I have more time to sit down and just get lost in the world of Horizon again.
The intro section is the perfect benchmark
I just purchased this game. I intend to benchmark this weekend, but I’m running a complete Intel PC. By that, my CPU is the Core i5-13600K and GPU is the ASRock Intel Arc A770 16GB.
Let’s see how well my Arc GPU handles this.
Hearing how good it was on your system, i decided to bench my "was top of the line just before the Ps5 launched" system, (ryzen 1800x+ geforce 1080 ti) at 1080P, it can sustain about 60 fps on "Very high" graphics settings, it can do it with fsr Off as well, but it will drop into the high 50's a bit more often without it. The system IS Cpu bottlenecked about 80% of the time, but it's maintaining a smooth experience.
I was watching TotalBiscuit's Metal Gear Solid V port video earlier today. I see where you got your inspiration from.
i miss him, he was absolutely amazing and the way he formatted his reviews was just perfect.
Himbo im waiting for that DD2 video. Im starting to breakdown. I might even buy the console version 😱
Definitely grabbing this game on a sale this Black Friday.
Count on it.
Thanks for your review
Thanks for the video
When I play Zero Dawn on my Deck and hook it up to the TV, it has that exact same issue with the HDMI cable. I can replug it and it will work, but it’s weird that it happens in the first place. It only happens on major events like a quest ending.
My 5800X3D with a 6950XT should run this easily. Thanks for breaking it down. 🙂
The Steam Deck version looked fine to me. Of course, I was a kid when Pong first came out. I can't tell you how amazing that Pong seemed to us at the time; for the first time ever, one could actually manipulate objects on the TV. That doesn't sound like much now, but back then it was unbelievable!!
Thanks for the steam deck test
Duuude. Crashed after starting. Restarted PC, BOOM! BEAUTIFUL on super ultra wide triple widescreen 5760x1080 48:9… runs stellar on a 4070ti… can’t wait to enjoy all the nature. Might upload some videos
Best looking game I’ve ever seen on pc. It’s wild at 4k with DLAA enabled.
For steam deck, I would lower it to 720p, and it may help with the fps.
@OhNoItsAlexx dont know why you're not showing up in feed. But loving the content.
Alex bout to have this title and thumbnail used as fanboy ammo
0:42 hopefully someone already pointed it to you. but while you're in game you can change the graphical settings and it shows the difference in real time/in engine.
wow its using all cpu cores pretty well damn !!! I'm installing now, cant wait...
Thanks for your review man! I've had this on my wishlist and was hoping to see a good port come launch. Appreciate your info Applebottom Alex
This game is very beautiful on PC, especially if you have a rig that can run it at max settings. I’m getting around 150 fps with DLSS and Frame Generation on my 4070. Nixxes never fails to disappoint.
One thing reeeeeally annoying about HZD1 was that the graphics settings and controller settings were in the save game and there replicated between steam deck and desktop making it impossible to comfortably switch between handheld and desktop. Is that the case with HZD 2 too?
Going to wait for a sale but it's going to look beautiful on my Oled monitor.
Himbo, the game allocates more Vram based on what is available on your card, this game runs great on a 13600K with a 4070 at 1440p.
3070 too as Digital Foundry showed
I just like to make it apparent just incase.
can't you install ''lossless scaling'' on the steam deck
costs a few bucks , but it has extra DLSS options , like FSR and NIS + about 10 others,
it also has frame generation you can turn on for every game ...
idk , maybe you could try to install it , see if it works
Great port! Now try the same with DD2 🌚
Just waiting for the specific mods
Glad to see a good performing pc port
I have never heard "plosives" on your mic. bad angle?? or is the wind screen missing/broken
angle
Thanks to the beta testers.
PS5 players?
@@glenmclNintendo
i smell a lot of grief in this comment
@@user-vz4sh7sx1qTrue, for the poor console gamers, JK 😂, Games should be enjoyed by everyone that likes them.
@@mobarakjama5570 Not really, PS5 players can get this game a lot cheaper for practically the same experience, plus you need a pretty beefy PC to even surpass the PS5 version of this game.
I have both a PS5 and a mid range gaming PC (it's better than a PS5 but not massively better), and I do use the PC more, but HFW is like £20 for a physical edition on PS5, or only £10 if I play through PS Plus. Compare that to PC where it costs £50 for practically the same experience - bar a much worse HDR implementation due to how poorly HDR is implemented in Windows 10/11.
Im surprised u didnt mention the graphics settings menu in-game. It shows the difference live and everything. I get it tho, ur busy with this and DD2 and what not.
I tried the game on Endeavour OS and the graphics textures are screwed up. My system consists of a 7800X3D and a 7900 XTX reference card with 32gb sdram. Currently installing it on my Ally Z1 Extreme, once it's done I'll see if there's a difference in the game's performance.
This game is pretty friggin amazing. Highly recommend.
got it plays great on rx7900xt and 5800x3d in 3440x1440 around 90fps
Probably too much to ask but it would be amazing if you tested games on Nvidia too to see some comparison between dlss and fsr and other differences in each Game
It’s a bit jarring watching these pc port reviews because Alex is being serious and professional in them 😂😂
Thanks for another great video
It's a a stunning game haven't played much but playing more tonight after work this game is a true looker well done nixxes on delivering a great PC Port
Oh boy can't wait to see your DD2 video
perfomance still tanks when in meridian like the last game. can run very high everywhere with 60+ except there. im guessing its an engine issue
I wish mine looked like that.
Why does the CPU cores go up in usage with a lower resolution? Wouldn't that make it easier to render, especially if the upscaler is on the GPU? I don't get it.
Lower resolution, means the CPU has to work harder to work with the framerate since the GPU is able to produce more FPS
@@OhNoItsAlexx Ahh, that makes sense. thank you Alex!
Now if they built every port and PC game like this..
No for their patch they need to add the bench mark, vram utilization and pic of what changes. Either way I'm buying this game this weekend.
I need to install this on my Ally and see how it runs.
There must be something up with my pc im running a 3070Ti with an intel i7 9700k and 64gb of ram and my game dips into the low 40s pretty often while playing at "High" settings at 1440p...ill have to tinker with some settings.
INSANE you sayyyyy
I'm running it in Proton on Ubuntu from a Windows NTFS Drive(Samsung 980 Pro nvme). LOL. It runs great on that. 6700xt and 5800x3d , 1440p. I'm not watching numbers I just know it started on High and feels and looks good. That's all I care about right now because my windows is being wonky no matter what I do.
Good to know Linux gaming support is getting better.
Nixxies proving once again that they are one of the best PC porting studios out there. My only major complaint is the lack of extra settings that scale further above the PS5 like some earlier releases. I think this game would do well to have ray tracing, better Ambient Occlusion and other things
With a setup like yours, no one should be going for ultraperformance, Ultraperformance was introduced if I remember correctly when Nvidia wanted a "8K capable GPU" and thats what theyd recommend you use when playing in 8K. At 1440p, Id recommend going for Balanced, performance minimum if youre GPU bottlenecked and struggling for FPS.
TLDR: the lower the fps, the higher DLSS and FSR quality should be.
Also, glad Nixxes is showing theyre amazing value with these ports.
Cant wait to see how this runs on my Ally!
I was testing a cpu bottleneck
@@OhNoItsAlexx I know, I just talking in general for the folks in chat!
On Steam Deck it unfortunately leaves a fair amount to be desired, but I think it is because it is a port of the PS5 version rather than the PS4 version.
EDIT: Ok, so with FSR 2.2 set to Quality (something which I have always avoided using), 30fps is pretty consistent.
It's like a warzone with all these pops dang
yeah just in the beginning
Didn’t know ben affleck was into gaming. Pretty cool
So a 2080ti and a i9900k I should do ok?
Sony was wise to acquire Nixxes. They should be the ones to port all their first party stuff.
I did expect more gains when you went from Native 100fps to UltraPerformant FSR sub50% scaling and only gained 30%..... solid video, just that scaling didnt seem so good is all.
Nixxies was Sony's best purchase, they've done tremendous work on some of the pc ports. I can't wait to see their work on some of the upcoming ports #wholeslate
I hope it's like part 1 where someone make's a mod to fix her jacked up face.
Can't wait for the mods that remove nikkokado as the main character.
the only way i would play this is with a 2B mod or something.
I played it on ps5 when it first came out and I could tell on some cutscenes that the head size doesn't even match the body lol like they inflated it for no reason.
I'd be happy with a Triss or Jill Valentine version.@@Re-PhantomZero
Are there mods that make it less talkative?
Hopefully, the increased inventory will be a must as well.@thebigpig2364
Also, 2nd comment, is there a way to lock framerate to 60FPS and bump all the settings all the way up and in 4K?
Yes
Perhaps with fsr 3 the game will become more performant in the steam deck
I really liked Zero Dawn. The gameplay and lore were really nice. What I didn't like was the main plot. It was kind of not that interesting. Main plot didn't stop me from liking the game overall and clocked nearly 100 hours in it.
How's the main story in Forbidden West? Same as in ZD or did they improve it a bit?
we living in a time where we are having good ports of a bad game and bad ports of a good game.
What software you use to display fps?
Riva Tuner and Intel Presentmon
The Horizon Games are so underrated! The Story is so unique! Sony is not doing this IP any favors! 😢
cool
if someone fixes the faces with mods i might actually try it
I really want Uncharted 1-3 to be remastered on PC. Uncharted 2 especially that game is fire.
If you have decent pc you can play it on ps3 emulator
@@user-yb4ub1wc2g The games still need work on rpcs3. Stuck at 60fps with framerate drops
What’s the point of motion blur? Everyone I know turn it off, like why can’t be the default?
I didn't know ben affleck is a pc gamer !
Fucking impresive!
6:34 GTF OFF MY LADDER! 😤😤😤 lmao
I've been using a 120Hz 4k TV for PC games such as this one (third-person, driving etc)
Can't recommend it enough
Will you make a port review of Dragon's Dogma 2?
I think that's tomorrow
Honestly, gotta be the teraflops…right?….
Right?
And I didn't hear anything about this games release on steam. Here's to the eventual Bloodborne pc stealth drop.
I'll be playing on my steam deck.
Nice to see a decent PC port, I'm already close to the endgame on PS5 but I'm gonna pick up Ghost of Tsushima on PC!
Seems like Sony took some needed steps to make good ports. As a past playstation only player i'm happy Sony wants to share the games with PC players.
Guess we don't need Playstation 5 SSD and the power of Mark Cerny through put IOS to play Horizon Forbidden West on PC. Thanks for the PC port review Alex.
Alex keeps bloom on... Guys its we lost him...
I'll take Bloom over vignetting, chromatic aberration, and motion blur any day
