15 drink per day is only for alcoholic beverages. The water, soda, etc are unlimited.

We just got back from a 7-day out of Miami. We purchase The cheers package and found it worked for us. I love my coffee so being able to get my coffee drinks in the morning and watch the sunrise was great for me. I also love my fruity cocktails so getting a kiss on the lips or a banana daiquiri while sitting by the pool or in the jacuzzi was very nice. He likes his captain and Coke and so he was happy. All in all, between the two of us, we probably had six to eight drinks a day so the package was definitely worth it to us
Us too!! I'm with you, I love the coffee in the morning and the sunrise as well, it's one of my favorite times of the day on the ship. So peaceful ☀️ Sounds like you folks had a wonderful cruise thanks for sharing! 😎☀️🍻

It does add a significant cost to your cruise and it's not worth it for everyone. We don't drink a ton at home but when it's cruising time, we like to have a few drinks 🍻☀️😎 Thanks for watching!!
Not when you get an offer that includes the drink package. We got one for $200 more for both of us. Well worth it.

I'm not necessarily a huge drinker, but I inevitably get a coffee or two in the morning, soda throughout the day, and a couple drinks at night. I may not get anywhere close to $15, but as long as I get close to the breakeven point the fact that I don't have to stress about having a huge drink bill at the end makes it worth it to me!

Always grab a sport drink or vitamin water when you walk by and keep in your fridge. Also if you have a few left over before bed grab a can of beer and save. They also have great milk shakes. Can also get a shot in the milk shake. Always use it up. Very easy to get the money worth. Also the bottles of water. My fridge is always full of water sports drinks and cans of beer lol😂

On Royal and MSC some port days utilize your drink package at private islands.
We love this with Royal, we haven't tried MSC but Carnival definitely needs to implement this!! 😎☀️🍻
Another good thing with drink package is water is included so always grab a bottle before leaving the ship on port days.

I have booked carnival splendor in Jan 2025 for myself & my 11 year old daughter, first time cruises I'm adding the bottomless drink package for my daughter & the cheers drink package for myself.

Cruising is one of those things where you either love or hate it! We hope you absolutely love it!!!
Honestly not having to think about the drinks or the cost or if you like them or not is the mail reason we usually get the drink packages.
So if your daughter gets a milkshake or something and doesn’t like it, she can order something else without feeling badly about spending more $.

Great info. I agree with what others have said, I don't think it's a big deal to share between the two of you, the issue is getting drinks for friends. I also agree with your opinion, I love the peace of mind not having to worry about how much i spent as well as trying something different. The price you posted also looks good, my last cruise with Royal Caribbean we've seen the drinks package between 90-100 CAD, which we refuse to pay, we just use our Diamond vouchers now and pay for the very odd extra if needed.
Yes exactly!! The Carnival price is much easier to swallow, one of my cruise planners with Royal right now is $115 USD pp/day which is crazy to me. I'm with you on the diamond vouchers they are definitely the best loyalty perk out there in our opinion! Just need to get Diamond plus for the extra drink per day 🤣

On Royal, going out of Galveston, you can get alcoholic drinks (but only alcohol made in Texas). They have a special menu to choose from. Once you hit international waters, it is a full bar. Plenty to drink from when you get on the ship. I guess Carnival doesn’t want to follow those rules. Enjoyed your Celebration video - going on her May 2024.

Cheers doesn't apply that first day out of Galveston but the special menu does. You have a limited menu at all bars and not the normal specialty drinks at Alchemy, Red Frog etc. I can't remember if they open the menu up that first night once you get out to sea but I know for sail away it's a limited choice.

You should video review the Carnival’s top drinks. I hear the Alchemy bar has very unique drinks unlike any other. They say that some are even considered therapeutic, which sounds interesting! Great videos on Celebration!!

I know i can drink more than 15 beers in a day but my wife will only drink one mixed drink every so often . Sometimes not at all. So i would probably have her bring me more beers to our room with her remaining 15 . I think that might work in a sneaky way without getting caught.

I don’t think anyone would particularly care if you share drinks with someone who also has the drink package. Where they take exception to it is if you share a drink with someone who does NOT have one…
You don’t have to ask your bartender your tally, either. The receipt you sign says at the bottom which drink number it is for you (although that may not start till #10 or #11). Certainly, though, when you’re getting close to the limit, it will say so on the receipt.

If you drink 5 alcoholic drink, a couple lattes, bottles of water and/or soda, the math works out pretty quickly. For those who drink all day (shame to say that’s me 😂), it’s definitely better to pay for Cheers up front.
Exactly!! The key is the fresh squeezed juices, the specialty coffees and the energy drinks. Ryan had like 2 of each per day plus any pool drinks or wine with dinner. Cheers is definitely more affordable!

I’ve gone on a few cruises and why I will always try to get the drink package.
1. There is nothing worse then after good night out waking up in the morning and there is huge bill on your tv screen.
2 the last few days of your cruise and you may of over spent on others things. Now your waking around like you lost your dog.
3 it’s just worry free.
Have a great summer and stay safe hopefully your not to close to the wildfires. I’m from Upstate NY and the smoke has been a little bit crazy at times.

I love getting a drink package with Royal, and they will let my husband get a refreshment pkg (usually around $22 a day) as he no longer drinks, and I can get my deluxe pkg. We are going on our first Carnival cruise , Mardi Gras, in December (NY sailing!) and my understanding is Carnival will not budge. Which is a bummer as we’ll have to pay for all drinks a la carte.
Yeah it is nice how Royal does allow anyone else to get just the refreshment package. I didn't know that Carnival didn't budge I would've thought there'd always be exceptions (doesn't drink or sober, pregnant, etc). @@ryanandkala To be honest we have not booked our flights yet. It’s true flights can be more this time of the year, but we’ve had luck out of Detroit on Spirit. Especially to Orlando, lots of options. Last year we did a new years sailing out of LA and that was a bit tricky finding holiday flights from east to west coast. We have flown with Southwest, Delta & Spirit though, several times during the holidays but we also have Buffalo or Detroit not too far away, even though Toronto is closer, we usually avoid it. Lol
Aug 19th, I'll be on the Carnival Glory ( first-time cruiser ). My boyfriend and I were undecided at first about the drink package, but after this info, it just makes sense to get it. Thank you so much for this video. It truly helps out the newbie cruiser who has no idea what they're doing 😅

Wife and I are long time carnival cruisers who have never gotten the drink package UNTIL this September when we took an offer with cheers package. But we did get the drink package on our 1st royal cruise in January and we got to drink 1st day from Galveston. So i think it's a cruise line tax issue. It seems carnival does not want to pay certain taxes. We booked on jubilee for 2/10/24 but might need to push it back till 2024.
So what did you think, was it worth it? Are you going to continue to get it? Ya upon further research it appears Royal will still offer it but at a reduced menu and I guess Carnival opted out of doing this. We can't wait for the Jubilee we are doing it Feb 24th , hopefully you don't have to push it! Thanks for the info and for watching ☀️😎🍻

It comes down to Texas laws the Texas TABC law says only alcohol made in Texas, can be sold while in port

Hi 👋 thanks for your information on the drink package. I went on my first carnival cruise in January. I didn’t buy the drink pkg because my friend doesn’t drink. I paid as I went. But here’s a big tip for you and your followers. I did play in the casino and on the last night the casino gifted me a bottle of wine. When I got home I got tons of offers. So my next cruise I got a balcony room and a drinks on them package. Best of all after purchasing insurance and paying tips it’s only costing $340. Per person for a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas!! Plus we each got $100 in on board credit!!!

I haven’t cruised since August of ‘19 but I still get casino offers from Carnival every day. I am going on the Celebration 4/28/24 and I got the following offer.
Free Ocean Suite
$200 stateroom credit
$1,000 fun play casino credit
And drinks anywhere onboard the ship for me only.
So with that offer I didn’t even have to purchase the drink package for my girlfriend since I didn’t actually purchase the Cheers package. She’s not a big drinker so I can just get her a drink or two a day out of my 15. It’s a beautiful deal. Carnival loves their gamblers!!! 😂🤪

But if my calculations are right, you don’t need to get your 15 drinks in for the package to be worth it the package pre-cruise is 59.95 so if each drink is between 11 and even if you go to the alchemy bar which ranges as high as 19 then it’s still worth it.8 drinks and your in the positive

I have been on two Carnival cruises and did not purchase the drink package. On those cruises I brought some beverages with me. Too much trouble and too stressful.
I have a back to back to back on Carnival in about 400 days and I purchased the drink package for all 3 cruises. The first time I cruised on RCL was B2B on the Enchantment and purchased the package for both cruises. As you mentioned as a Pro...I loved not worrying about the bill at the end.
RCL charges more for their package than Carnival...that might account for some of the dollar here and dollar there charges that Carnival adds to the bill.
Doing an NCL cruise in January. I will let you know how I feel about NCL after the cruise, but for now, they are too darn expensive. They call their package "Free at Sea", but for me, it is not as free as they imply. Albeit, this fare includes round trip air fare for two to Puerto Rico. The Viva will be docking there for a few weeks so we have to get there for the 7 day cruise. Which means another added expense is a hotel room the day before and the day after. It adds up fast, as you know! Got the upgraded drink package for this cruise which was another expense. The itinerary is port intensive so I will have to see if this was a mistake. I keep telling myself this is a brand new ship so I do want the experience of a mega ship with a virtual arcade and full blown shows etc.
My fear is after this mega ship I will not enjoy the RCL Vision class ships! The Vision class ships the only size that will fit into Baltimore. Carnival cruises a small ship from Baltimore as well. Being able to drive 50 minutes to get to the Port is a huge plus! I have always thought I would be happy with ships the next size up from the Vision class. Don't think I will fall in love with the mega ship but I do want the experience.

I am 100% on the same page about the mega ships! Once I had been on the freedom and oasis classes it made it really hard to get back to the smaller classes like vision class! If the itinerary is good though I care a lot less about the ship itself because I’m rarely on it. But if it’s got a lot of sea days I tend to favour the larger classes.

Just went on my first Carnival Cruise 2 weeks ago great experience however those damn magic mangoes are rip off they say it's $12 but the hidden fees make it 16 and they made me throw away my smart water just so they can charge for cabin water smh however it was great
Omg I know they really know how to nickel & dime you. In the piano bar this server walked around with shots, it was dark so it was hard to see, we asked for 2 then got hit with the bill and was told to keep the glass but now we know! 🤣Lol. Glad to hear you had a great experience!!

I was told Coffee and pop is included on the Ledo deck.
There's some beverage stations that have a lemonade, orange juice and water or something close to that. A couple places they're located are Blue Iguana, Shaqs chicken and in the Lido marketplace. You can get free coffee in a lot of areas but the specialty coffees are extra. Thanks for watching!! ☀️😎🍻

We're very excited about that one, it's on the Explorer which we were a little disappointed with because we just sailed on that in Dec 2022 but it's still a great ship!! ☀️🍻😎
For me, with the drink package, it's the opposite. When I have the drink package I spend every day wondering if I'm breaking even. When I don't have the drink package I'm less worried because there is no way Im drinking more than I'm happy paying. But you guys have a point I do stay up later and see things I might otherwise miss if Im trying to make sure I get value.
This is a great perspective and I didn't think about it this way so I really appreciate the comment. I do feel this way sometimes especially on Port days.
See this is the thought process I haven't seen enough. I've wondered this too. Only cruised once and it was NCL so I had drinks included. But I've been curious about this, if you don't have the drink package. Would you consciously drink less? Not enough conversations about this
@@prospect0914 We definitely drink less, way less. With Royal we get the Diamond vouchers which is 4x free drinks per day so that plus maybe one of the bottles of wine we brought on board is usually what we have without the drink package.

Kala really wanted to visit Mykonos and Santorini so we looked at the sailings that offered both. In the end, we booked with the Explorer. It's a great ship but we JUST did it in December 2022 so I was a little bummed. I think the Voyager and the Oasis were also doing Mediterranean ☀️😎🍻
@@ryanandkala Those ports are on our list too :) I’ll have to take a look at the Explorer. So far looked into Oasis and Odyssey, only Odyssey I think does Greece. Oasis is Mediterranean without Greece. Have not been on the Explorer but enjoyed the Navigator last December.
Tip for port days. Earlier in the wk, get shots before bed, put them in a water bottle and take them to port :)

Day 2 applies to ALL Ships leaving out of Galveston, Texas when it comes to the Drink Package
Royal Caribbean offers the drink package on Day 1 because the alcohol is purchased in Texas. They have a more limited menu, but it starts on Day 1.
NCL also charges tax in US ports. Just sailed out of Boston and we were charged, but like you said, it's only a couple of bucks.

No they're not you have to pay an additional 18% gratuities when you buy the package. The tax from US ports will show up on your bill per drink that you purchase while in port. 😎🍻☀️

My wife and I just went on the Carnival Vista 8-day cruise and we both got the CHEERS package. My wife drinks mostly wine, and I drank a mix of beer, drinks, and Diet Pepsis. The total price (pre-purchased) was $959 each, or roughly $1900. I looked at my folio and see we got approx 120 drinks while on the cruise. The verdict? We should've paid as we went. Had we paid as we went, we would've paid about $500 less.
That’s a great way to do it! Now you know it’s cheaper for you to pay as you go!!

@@ryanandkala My wife pretty much broke even, maybe a slight savings because of what she drank, which was mostly glasses of wine at about $12 per. I ended up not really using it as much because what I was buying was cheaper basically. I got a lot of sodas at $3.50 and beer. And your point about how many days in port was a good one. We probably didn't use as much the 4 days we were in port. What we figured out later is that you can buy one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic beverage at the same time. So sometimes if I wanted a soda, I could've just gotten that at the same time my wife got her wine. With that knowledge, I think next time we go, we'll just get one package (we can do that if we split our cabins because of the kids so that only she gets the package). All I can say is even what I had I was sick of by the end of the cruise...lol. I don't want to look at a beer for a while.

On Royal you can have unlimited so you won't get charged! I believe my highest (after counting on the TV the next day) was 24 drinks on Royal which is... Not healthy lol 🍻☀️😎
On Carnival, you cannot go over your limit of 15 alcoholic drinks because they cut you off. Of course, you could drink more in port.

We don't do it we drink like 6 drinks a day each and it was fine without it. Don't get an aft cabin on carnival the soot from the smoke stacks will turn your feet and clothes black with soot. It totally ruined our cruise. Your carpets will be dirty black the whole cruise and it doesn't come out of your clothes either. You won't ever be able to use your balcony that you paid alot extra for and carnival will tell you sorry here's a $25 on board ship credit. It's worth stepping it up a bit and go on Royal Caribbean.

They sorta close on a staggered schedule from what I recall but they were open pretty late. I believe the Limelight lounge that turns into a nightclub is the last to close and they advertise it as "open late" so I think it depends on how many cruisers there are at the time and if they're still buying drinks.

typically there is a booking offer (RU) followed by a number. this is how I afford the package- it comes out to about 1/2 price. its great for coffees and bottled water ship water tastes bleh

Yes it’s per person per day, so you have to make sure it’s worth it for you.
Personally we usually hit at least 10 drinks each per day because we have several non alcoholic drinks too like 1-2 lattes, an energy drink for Ryan and a Gatorade etc

On most 7 day itineraries there will be 2 “elegant nights” where they encourage people to dress up nicely. However not everyone does- I believe it’s only highly encouraged in the main dining room. The special dining options have their own dress codes (which again not everyone follows and isn’t usually enforced)
We like to dress up because there’s not a lot of events where we get to dress up and be fancy!! 🎩👗

If the bars are open and serving alcohol, you can definitely go order your drinks and then walk right back to your room with them and enjoy them in there, we have done this a few times with coffees or mimosas in the mornings.
We have even brought our own bottles of wine on board (on most ships you can come on board with 2 bottles per state room) asked our stateroom attendant for wine glasses, then gone up to the windjammer and grabbed a plate with some cheeses and meats and fruits and made ourselves a little charcuterie board on the balcony in our room haha!

You only have to pay for bottled water or soda water, there are plenty of beverage stations around the ship that offer free water and some juice

Definitely not worth it imo. I find it laughable that they bartenders have to ask you if you have a Cheers package, just so they can offer you a double shot if you DON'T have a Cheers package.
Not only can you get double shots if NOT Cheers, but they won't even give you the option to pay for it. It's super limiting. And yes, you can eventually go back up to the bar (and some time has passed) and get you a single shot to add, but that just takes time and counts in the limit of 15
Also, it's important to note: Carnival's 15 drink limit is for ALL passengers, not just Cheers package buyers

You have to wait the 5 minutes in between, however, many times I'd ask for an alcoholic drink and a bottled water and they would just give it to me. Probably anything but water there's that 5 minute wait. 😎🍻☀️

So they're kinda weird with this generally you have to wait 5 minutes for two non alcoholic or alcoholic drinks, but most times, they'll let you get an alcoholic and a non alcoholic at the same time. So you can't get 2x coffees but you could get a beer and a water.

question, me and my GF are from Chile, shes 18 and im 22, legal age for drinking here is 18, but cheers package says its +21 (due to legal age of drinking in the US), some cruisers have the option of selling alcohol to 18-20 years old as long as they're not US citizens (like us), so the question is, is there a way to have the cheers package applied to my GF? i REALLY want to experience a Carnival cruise and i want to bring my GF on this whole new cruise experience (we never been on a huge cruise), but i also dont want to leave her out of the drinking package. Celebrity let us have drinking package for us as an example, but it stated that was for +18 - +21 adults. and if not, is it possible to just get it for myself and share the drink with her?
Hey! Great question, as far as I know the Cheers package is only 21+. You should be able to just buy the drink package yourself and she wouldn't have to pay anything, everyone else in the cabin 21+ would have to buy it. You can also bring 2 bottles of wine per stateroom onboard and if you go to the gifts section, you can pre-buy alcohol to your stateroom (for a premium but still better than ship prices). You are limited to 15 alcoholic drinks per day so buying the extra from gifts or bringing on the two bottles would help if you shared some drinks (which isn't allowed but I'm just assuming you will lol).
