Afeni Shakur was an amazing women, she was 21 years old and pregnant with Tupac when she represented herself against the United States goverment with a jury of all white peers and she won her case. She was a member of the black panther organization that was formed to protect black communities from police brutality. When you learn about Tupacs mom it informs so much about Tupac himself and how he became such an amazing and thoughtful person for his age. Brenda’s got a baby is a great example of this if you have never heard the song before. He was 19 years old and saw the story on the news and the very next day on the set of his movie he was already rapping parts of the song according to Omar Epps his cast mate in the movie. The record label was trying to strong arm Tupac into removing the song from his album but he put his foot down and made it his first single instead releasing the song early as promotion for his first studio album. To write such a thoughtful song at 19 and to be so insistent that it gets included shows his depth of character

This song was heartwarming and it is great to listen because 2pac had heart and soul. This track is make me feel appreciate and love my mother. Thank you for your amazing reaction 😊
Those are the right words. Others like him, my brother and I found what our dad didn't show us, in those who also were experiencing the same from their own fathers. Im almost 40 but love watching videos on these songs I listened to 30 years ago as a kid and seeing others still feel what is being conveyed.

Just to give some context on a couple of things,
Number one, If you paid attention to the music video then you would have noticed a few references to the Black Panthers. The reason for that was because both of tupac's parents were members of the black panthers. If you don't know who the Black panthers were, They were an extreme civil rights activist/group that fought for the rights of African Americans but used deadly force to do so and because of that were haunted by the FBI and law enforcement agencies. They were viewed as terrorists by the police and the FBI. This is why in the beginning of the video 2pac's mother mentioned going to jai because she was arrested for being in the black panthers.
The 2nd thing I wanted to mention was during this time 2pac was in prison that's why you don't see him in the video because he was in prison when this video was released.

This is the only hip hop song that every time I hear it tears roll down my face because I feel every word. As a man our mothers are our first love
I grew up as a very poor child I lived in the hood the only parent was my MOM I STOPPED GOING TO AT 13 YEARS OLD so that why my MOM would lose the 3 kids that was still at the MOMS boyfriend would bite us for playing outside when he was not home if he got a 3 on are report cards we got bite for that too I tell these my brother ,baby sister & I go down on the bark side I am now 54 years old if I could go to my past to things around I would not because that is why I am too this day {. GOD BLESS ALL OF THE ONES WAIK DOWN THE SAME PATH. }

Growing up I fell in love with hip-hop. I was mainly just a bass head because I couldn't relate to what they were speaking about. But 2pac was different. Long before Em came around, it was all Pac. The way he opened the door showed a life I never experienced and never will be able to truly understand, and how his passion come right through the speaker forcing you to feel it.😢😢
I still remember coming home from school, turning on the TV and seeing a helicopter shot of the hospital were he died 5 days after being shot. "5 shots couldn't drop me, I took them and smiled."

Important to note, shortly after this song was released, Pac found out his real father was alive, and his mother lied about who his father was his whole life. He even came to visit him in prison and stayed in contact with him until Pac's passing. His father is alive and well until this day.
