Welcome to the LifeHacksIRL(Old Channel Name) Apple AirPod User Guide and Tutorial! This guide will be split up into three videos. This first one will show you the basics of how to setup your apple AirPods with your iPhone and how to use them. The second video will show you how to use them with many of your apple devices and take a deep dive into the AirPod settings menu! The third video will cover advanced tips and tricks for using your AirPods.
So let’s jump right in and show you how to setup the AirPods on an iPhone. First, even before touching the AirPods we need to make sure bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone. To do this you simply swipe up on your iPhone to get to control centre and then turn on Bluetooth. If you’re not sure about whether bluetooth is on or off the bluetooth symbol will display at the top by the battery indicator to let you know whenever it’s on. This must be on whenever you use your AirPods as they are a bluetooth device!
Now on to the setup or “pairing” process. It’s really quite easy. Simply open the AirPod case close to the iPhone and the pairing AirPod screen will pop up, just press connect on the screen, then it may prompt you to hold the button on the back of the case, then it will do it’s thing and connect! There you go! it’s done! your AirPods are now paired with not only your iPhone, but any other apple devices you have that share the same iCloud account. Pretty cool huh!
Whenever you want to use your Airpods just take them out of the case and put them in your ears, a tone will sound to let you know they’re online and ready to use. Now you can start playing your music/podcast or make that phone call!
Now the first question I get the most about AirPods is how do you control them and change the volume? There are a many different ways to do this, but in this section I’m just going to go over the basic ones that are setup by default, but I will be going over some of what I feel are the better ways in the other two parts of this video. Whether you want to change the volume or play the next track you can just double tap either AirPod and use Siri. You can ask Siri to play the next track, turn up the volume or make a call. AirPods can be completely controlled with your voice. Apple markets this feature heavily from what I can see, but I personally don’t find that the best way to control them, especially if your walking down a busy street or on a crowded subway car! But if you use them a lot in places like a closed office or a car this can be very handy! You can of course control them using the volume and media controls on your iPhone, but that’s not super handy. But don’t worry about that part too much right now, there are better ways to control the AirPods, and like i said earlier, i will be going over those in the next two videos.

To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. czcams.com/users/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

I am now ready to use my new AirPods to their fullest. But I do have a big question: any suggestions to charge my AirPods when using an earhook to have them properly seated in my ear?
Basically, I unfortunately have one of those ears in which AirPods, EarPods and most in-ear headsets just don't fit/stay. Given the high price of the AirPods and my for sure not wanting to ever lose them (sometimes even without noticing that they fell from my ear, because they are so inobtrusive), I have purchases simple earhooks that secure them properly in my ear (I bought EarBuddyz 2.0 Ear Hooks and Covers Accessories for Apple AirPods). They work great but my AirPods don't fit in the charging case unless I pull them out each time I need to charge the AirPods. I'd love to find a solution where I could charge the AirPods while keeping the EarBuddyz on. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

No, they are both paired to the same phone at the same time whether it's iPhone/Android. They setup as a pair.

You don't have to, but I'd recommend keeping them in the case, less likely to get lost and then it always keeps the battery topped up!

The AirPods themselves don't have lights on them. You might want to work this out with the store you bought them from.

Do they make any sound when you put them in? What sound do they make when having low battery?
They do make a chime sound when they connect to a device and when the battery is low they make a different sound that's hard to describe, but you can't mistake it!

That big logo that said your name and your air pods battery status as well as the charging case battery status, doesnt show on my iphone 11. I have Air Pods gen 2. Please advise

I have a question, what does it mean when you Open your AirPods case and you see one of the AirPods is red and has it a ! On it??
AirPods don't have lights on them, only the case has 1 status light. So if your headphones have lights on them, they aren't Apple AirPods.
please help i ordered a replacement airpod and continue to try and get the amber flashes to go away and after following the apple instructions by charging for 20 minutes i still cannot get them to flash white. Please help i dont want to have to reoder a replacement for a replacement :(

Very odd issue, I would recommend resetting them, if that fails then you should go to the Apple Store and ask them for help.

It's a good idea, but they usually come partially charged. But they are Lithium Ion batteries, so there isn't a necessity.
