I find it absurd that companies go for this one size design and not care to include some silicon covers or hooks. The extra cost would be so small and the functionality and the sense of "safety" when walking/running would be awesome.

I mean. I totally understand the reasons why they fall off and stuff. However, other earphones don't and I would still consider this an obvious and significant design flaw of Airpods
I ended up gluing them to my ear with a small strip of duck tape,the one time i didn't glue them they fell out and goodbye ruby tuesday .

I always use to wear a head band which covers my ears while I'm running with my airpods just to make sure they're not falling off and it seems to work quite well for me.

Wear them in the opposite ear with the “ stem “ pointing up and sort of tucked in under the rim of your upper ear. Not only do they stay in they are far less visible. Try it.

I can't tell if my earbuds are too small and falling out or too big and pushing themselves out, but at this point I think my ears are purposefully changing sizes to troll me.

I think most people that came here already have issues with thier earbuds falling out, as for me I'd like to know how to prevent them from falling out in the first place.
Mine usually fall out just as I pass over a grate or when I'm directly over water. My ear-pods fall out 37,123,425 times a day, mostly when I'm on the boardwalk and they disappear in the grass below. I finally found the answer, a G-clamp and a couple of blocks of wood. Superglue was too permanent. I couldn't see with the gaffer tape or the head band which kept slipping down anyway. But the G-clamp kept my ear-pods in for just over 30 seconds, before they slipped out and between the blocks of wood when my ears and the G-clamp hit the floor. The problem is the same as trying to keep a tennis ball in an inverted funnel. No amount of friction is going to keep it there. Anyone interested in tracking down Jonathan Ive, designer of the ear bud for the iPod which is where the rot started? He's currently in hiding do to a customers attempt to force him to use his own product resulting in considerable damage to his ear drum. Honest, I was only trying to help.
funnily enough all of those rubber tip earbuds fall out of my ears super easily. apple earbuds fit perfectly

It’s just down to ear size and shape, for one person they may fit perfectly but for others they may fall out with too much movement, it also depends how you wear them
For me, I haven’t had any trouble of them falling out. It is just lately that my right AirPod hurts when I wear them (the left airpods doesn’t hurt). And I’m pretty sure I’m wearing them the same way.

Now this is the funny thing, they stay in my ears perfectly. I have a problem where any earbuds with circular tips, so almost any out there, just don't stay in and instantly fall out. I think it has something to do with the shape of my ear canals, because I will get the circular tip earbuds put them in and they instantly fall out, but then I get flatter shaped earbuds lik what I currently use which is my Samsung Active In-Ears, they fit perfectly. Only because of that flat design shape, because I've gotten in ear canal circular earbuds like the Tranya Rimors, and out the canal circular earbuds sitting like the Airpods, and they both still fall out. But when I tried my friends Airpods, and then like ny Samsung ones that both of them have a flatter tip at the end, they stay in just perfect. So I think it's I have a flatter ear canal in some way and the circular tips just are too big to stay in
A solution I just figured out is to switch or reverse the buds. They sound just as good if not better and fit much snugger and never fall out. I took a year to realize as I accidentally put the wrong one in while sleeping to affirmations and noticed it sounded and fit better.

Increasing the Coefficient Of Friction helps me. I moisten a paper towel with rubbing alcohol, twist the corner and screw into my ear canal a couple turns, that dissolves the “wax”. Then wipe clean with a fresh twisted corner. Clean the ear bud the same way. Insert and push them into ear canal for 5 seconds. Now my Soundmate V2s stay in for much longer.

Makes sense, i have skull candy and on my right ear i changed the socket size of the earbud and it fits so good. In fact it fits so good that the earbud rubber tip comes off at times when i take it off. While on my left it has the same size rubber tip and it keeps falling off when i do a simple gesture like smile or talk
I’ve gotten the pros and sold my old ones and been happy with it since! They do not fall out my ear
Honestly I am very surprised that headphones that don't even have those rubber/silicone thingies have become so popular, especially considering such a steep price. Personally I don't think I can even go back to "regular" earbuds without the rubber thingies (oh dear, I have no idea what those are called in English), and it's not even as much about them staying in palce, but the isolation and the depth of sound.
The Airpod style seems good for casual stuff like watching videos or listening to podcasts/audiobooks (if you're at home or somewhere else quiet), but for music I don't quite get it, especially as I feel people mostly make use of their headphones in public spaces anyway. But idk, I might be wrong haha

I haven’t owned AirPods, but I’ve always only had the Apple wired headphones & for some reason, that shape is the only type I don’t have fall out all the time… I literally just bought a $150 pair of wireless earphones (the kind with the neck strap) that are supposed to be much better as in they block out radio radiation & heavily lessen EMF spikes ect…. Only problem was, they had that older style, round kind of earpiece & I know nothing sits in me ear except the “Apple shape”, but these came with 4 different sized tips, including super small so thought I might have some luck… I’m finally getting them to stay in (needed to put a smaller size tip on one ear) but they’re definitely not sitting or feeling right 😞😞
…I wish ALL headphones came with removable ear pieces & had some universal connection so no matter what headphones you bought, if the particular earpiece isn’t right for you, we could just buy whatever style is & pop it on. In reality, I’m dreaming here, but from a business standpoint, it might be a good move. I think more people would buy AirPods if they could use a different earpiece that’s best for them & more people might buy x,y,z if only they could attach the earpiece that works for them. I’ve always not bought headphones I really want till now purely because there’s no point if I knew the earpiece just won’t work for me. Surely I’m not the only one who’s had to do that 😫😫

So I just recently just got the pros and I’ve had issues of them falling out. Whenever I’d feel the rubber tips of them they’d feel kinda wet and same with the inside of my ear. Idk if that’s just ear wax or if I have an infectionor something

Stopping by 4 years later to say thank you for this because ALL headphones have always fallen out of my ears (other than over the ear, "ear muff" style) and even though I think it's partially due to my small ears/head since I was born 3 months premie, it's nice to see some validation smh. You'd think for so much money they could either include those silicon covers, or I dunno, come up with a design that doesn't fall out so often.

I thought I was the only one whose ears do not keep the AirPods in. I am so jealous of those people riding bikes, skateboarding and jogging with their AirPods. I turn my head and they fall out. I even purchased several of those adapters but even they didn’t work

For some reason Airpods, Earpods, have always stayed in my ear bo matter what. The rubber tips always fall out of my ear when he jump, turn sideway of run.

This is the simplest summary (though some knowledge of ear anatomy is required). AirPods won’t fit securely if the individual’s:
1) conchal bowl (cavum) is shallow
2) intertragic notch lacks depth (the bit where the AirPods actually seat in)
3) distance between the tragus and antitragus is large (the “gateposts” that secure the AirPod in the intertragic notch)

Every person is different, every ear is also different. So if you wear them they fall out but for some they fit perfect and never fall out, it’s just not made for your ear👊
1:22 ironically the silicone airpod design is the one that doesn't fall out of my ears whereas the jelly rubber constantly falls out no matter how I try and adjust them. And when I say fall out, I mean while I'm just sitting there stationary

Spinoff question: We live in a crazy world, are people getting plastic surgery on their ears to prevent their AirPods from falling out? Eye glasses wears were getting laser eye surgery at the beginning of the pandemic because their masks were causing their glasses to fog up. For me, 2:57 to 3:30 in your vlog was all I needed to hear.
