I believe it’s been put on hold because of everyone doing things in their own life especially techno he was the main story at the time and that was a huge set back for them I hope it comes back tho loved watching it

the part about how the fanbase is more than the server is so true though. I feel like people just assume that no server = no fandom but like as a person who's main source of content for dsmp is ao3 fics, art, and uh- mostly fics (haha yellow ros-), the fandom is a lot more than just the smp itself. Love how you pointed that out :DD
The community and Minecraft community as a whole is so cool! They deserve so much less hate because it’s truly amazing how they bring people together

It's upsetting because I started watching the Dream SMP right before it died. Literally the first stream I saw was right before the doomsday stream. I kept up with the story and went back to catch up on the lore and then... everything started to die.
Well, at least it isn't dying now. And won't for some time, I'm sure. Dream coming back into the fray, Quackity's newfound lore with losing Charlie, and now Ranboo suddenly dead.. There's going to be a lot of things in the works.
@@DarkFallen001 that's all true, but it only takes one person saying their busy for everything to fall apart. It is interesting how this video (and this comment) happened right before things picked up again (for a few days at least)

@@DarkFallen001 Who makes the canon things happen? If people don't stream the lore there isn't any lore. If two or more people need to be involved in lore those people have to be available.
Sorry if I sound harsh, I've just had issues taking dmsp members at face value when they say there's "lots of stuff coming." Even with everything that happened yesterday, I'm still skeptical because they could all be unavailable to do lore for months. They gave the lore a defibrillator shock, and that's all I'm gonna expect for now.
@@Jefnam Admittedly you do sound a bit harsh, but I'm not gonna rag on you for it. Sometimes there doesn't need to be big bits of lore (requiring a massive amount of attention and planning from select members). It's always possible to have small ones, and I consider that okay since I'm not deeply into the DSMP compared to others.

Lore is still happening though. Because of the succes of the members, they have been busy with their own content too. The fandom is still really big and there has been lore like, a couple days ago so I don't understand this video...

The point is the lore isn't the same. Yes, there is still lore, but it isnt the same. The L'manberg ark was basically unscripted, and thats what made it great, but now the story is completely clear cut, so its more like a movie then watching a game.
yea but I feel like the lore isn't as good as it was theres not much new members involved or much people involved in lore. Remember when they blew up l'manburg? They had everyone on the server, all doing lore. Some of the l'manburg arc wasn't even scripted and so was the start of the disc war. I think they don't need to script all of the lore and let some of it happen suddenly or dream can just tell one of his members to do something bad on the SMP and then it goes on there. The lore just isn't as good as it was SEPT-DEC 2020 Dream SMP.

For me I don’t like the lore or none lore streams, I liked it when something big came from something so little,like how tommy and Wilbur selling drugs in a van turned into the start of a nation. I also missies when while the people where talking it wasn’t taken so seriously. I get that some people like that but personally it’s just feels forced and not that much free. I don’t dislike the story heavy stuff, it’s just now there’s to much of it

basically when he was invited to the server he made a house; George, Bad and Foolish (mainly Foolish) decided to joke around and burn down a couple of blocks to scare him a bit, in return Michael decided to build a settlement away from the "Greater L'Manburg area"" and founded a fort called Serenity. he was distrustful of the members for a while; than they invited him to a (rather uneventful) Friendsgiving held by Karl, no one was quite sure if this event was lore or not; but he included it into his canonical radio broadcasts so...it is! and this is just an example i can call from off the top of my head, there are more...but i'd have to think for a bit lol
I feel that the story will slowly begin to build up. I think when you and written and began publishing this video, many things had happened: Dream is broken out of prison, Quackity’s Las Nevadas season finale occurred, 3-4 new members joined, some people lost canon lives, and a massive war, possibly the biggest one yet, will occur soon. I do think that, because of all of this, everything will come together in the plot. All this is probably leading to the soon end of the DSMP. I think the end of the server (or at least the lore) will come around spring or summer time of 2022. I highly doubt it’ll last past 2022.

You can definitely see an evident shift in how the story is developed in the L'Manburg/Manburg arc and the current one with revivebur, dream escaping prison, all that. A lot of the storytelling, especially in the Manburg era specifically, was really in depth, and was actually told shockingly well for Minecraft roleplay standards, with an emphasis on the right and wrong sides of history, with Wilbur doubting his title as the hero and eventually buying into that belief with blowing up Manburg.
The more recent lore snippets we've got (as mentioned earlier) feel a lot more like a comic book, or just your sort of generic "good guy fight bad guy. bad guy escape ooooh so tense and scary, who will win?" and it just feels really formulaic. It could've been interesting if the death of L'Manburg marked the end of the story, and in some ways it kinda did. The idea of the villains winning would've definitely reinforced that idea of "were they in the right?"
I dunno. Honestly, I have so many differing opinions as to what makes an smp good that i end up contradicting myself a lot since my opinions change a lot over time. This is just how I honestly see the early streams vs how the story is developed now.

I think the main thing that halted lore was techno’s cancer. He probably knew about it earlier than he told us. My personal guess is that his first chemo was on the day between ‘the prison podcast’ and breakout day, and nobody expected it to hit him as hard as it ended up hitting him. Thus they put the lore on hold. I think it’s gonna flare up starting tomorrow when they free the antagonist, since they’ve already got everything in place and they just got rid of the gag character.
But I agree, the story should go back to stuff like ‘you will log in to confront will’ being all someone gets for an entire encounter with things like the stabbing being unscripted.
For example they could give the syndicate
‘You will raid the prison and Dream left this information’
‘You will split up looking for a key’
‘Ranboo will go to the cell blocks solo’
And give one member (niki?)
‘you will find ranboo at the cell blocks and hide unless it’s clear he needs help’
While giving sam
‘You will start with speaking to dream in his cell’
‘You will encounter ranboo at the cell blocks’
And that could be it.
Vague and minimal stage directions also work.
Lockdown. That why. The moment the covid ended and everything opened up again, the Dream SMP players could go back to work, to school, college etc. No need to stream 24/7 on the server.

As Tommy confirmed in his lore stream today, there will be more lore streams will happen in the next few weeks. The SMP is not dead, and it will not die for a while.

I dont think it was ever dead, just taking a hiatus for people being busy.
Dream was in prision for almost a year now lol
I think they should have a side plot for dream's escape. add new members secretly who stream in dream smp, but dream doesn't disclose this information (leaving only the viewers of the new members' streams to reveal what is happening) then once dream escapes he will disclose it
DreamSMP was a great project that showed options in storytelling that i think not many poeple thought to be efective. What i loved about it was that you could watch that story from multiple points of views and basicaly live through these events with the character/streamer in real time. And it showed that if the story is interesting, doesnt matter how it looks that mutch. I mean look at the original content and that the fanarts.
If the dreamsmp dies for good i hope it will at least be a first step to more storytelling like this.

I think it's back! Ark 4 just started today, it's pretty interesting. I remember one of the members saying that lore would come back once dream is out or prison. And he's out of prison now
Bro if someone just goes on the smp and breaks dream out without anyone knowing would be such a great plot twist or sum then mor people would be interested. Or if some people worked together to get dream out like 2 people. That would be huge for the plot and make people more motivated/shocked. Even so people still have their own lives and now with covid almost fully gone, people are doing more outside and meeting up (just like the video said). Even so it would be great to see something like that happen and the smp starts being more active and more people streaming!

I'm pretty sure they would either leave doing the lore at one point or move to a different server and do lore with a fresh page with a loose script that either works or they will make it to strict and try again until people leave from how many stories are made and if they decline in quality or if the lore is too confusing.

The players really lost interest really right after the finale in January I kinda lost interest but with the prison finale I might start getting back into it
Well some of the dead ends are kinda ended for a decent reason
Las Nevadas is still ongoing just in multiple ways
And on top of that, the egg thing ended mostly because they know they could revisit it and the first part is most likely done
Also the Dream part seems rather nice
But I like to redo that part
I'd like to think that Dream should escape, but like no one outside of lore would know except like unimportant people
News could spread and could spark a debate for the people that actually care about Dream leaving
C!quackity already thinks he left already, so it would be nice to see that be expanded upon
Also it was already planned in lore so that's a step forward I gues

actually covid was the reason that minecraft sparked in popularity in 2020 and now minecraft is just like a game I play when I have nothing else to do.
Its just that after the prison and grand finale, they are prepping season 2 lore

Guys, the streamers literally jumped off Dream SMP and started another server, Origin SMP, to be much more active and much more fun to play.
Dream SMP is becoming oversaturated to everybody.
Was never really a fan, but I have a lot of nostalgia watching this last winter, it really was a vibe 😔

I think they should make an unknown player help dream escape out the prison then they have to find who it is like a murder mystery type shi and it would turn into chaos separating them and creating different faction then the rest plays out

the hermitcraft server, i believe, thrives because the lore doesn’t really have anything that effects the world itself.
the server is kinda where you can do whatever you want, where you get to make your own plot.
Even though the videos aren’t live they don’t really ‘roleplay’ but it’s similar

well i started watching videos of the dmsp and the members about 3 months ago and i still have alot of 2020 and this year to see
but for the little i know i still thinking theres a lot of lore that can be done just that now a lot of members are in their own stuff

The only thing I can think of to bring it back for one last bang would be ending the first server, with The largest content creators in an all-out personal war of the ownership of the next server, then starting up a season 2 next year.

I loved the DSMP cause it felt more simular to a D&D game where it was partialy improv
What cause the downfall was the writer at the time. You see Wilbur soot was the writer but during the prison arc someone else wrote it. Wilbur said he was going to come back so there’s hope for a comeback
The three lives rule and stuff being as classified as canon and non-canon also didn't help. Because of those the story is way less dynamic, spontaneous and immersive.
I remember all the way back when Stampylonghead's lovely world was once so big like the Dream SMP, well not a lot of people joined, it's just the attraction from all over the internet
Man I used to love the dream smp, it was good for like 5 months and then just boring, I was so happy to see tommy striving because I had been subbed before 100k. But I can’t find dream smp interesting anymore, and haven’t watched it in over a year
Honestly I’m rlly sad, the last dream smp vid is going to me premiered or wtv in abt 35 mins and I still don’t know much abt what happened so I’m trying to watch all of this and I’m rlly sad that I didn’t give into it when it first started-
and 4 days later litterly every important person live streams at the same time
The whole elections and manburg vs Pogtopia was the peak of the server for me
Wilbur and Schlatt were just the best villains the server had and it'll probably never have those kinds of villains again
After Schlatt and Wilbur had died it felt like there no more good villains or motivators
Dream as a villain was just evil to control but he was very faceless and never had anything interesting
Techno for me always bounced off of Wilbur and Schlatt better for the story over anyone else but his whole character also just became "You can't kill me" and just blows stuff up
The Egg was, who even thought it was good
Doomsday was cool but the destruction of lmanberg was way less impactful especially since no one actually died during it
Everything after Wilbur and Schlatt in comparison was way less cool and it became more and weightless "finale" after weightless "finale"
Now after nearly a real year dreams out of prison and ranboo is dead
I'd be more sad about ranboo dying but the smp is like a comic now and characters just keep coming back so there's no tension for character death
Though the prison break was probably the best thing this year for dsmp so if it keeps in a better direction every time they do the occasional events maybe it'll get more enjoyable like the older parts

yes, its getting old with the death then revive plot. I agree with you the manburg-pogtopia was really enjoyable (one of my favs). but the time where tommy would have a potential to be the villian, that time where he sided with techno, but i guess eh.

From 2020 to 2021 this was the big deal now its more of a shell of its former self
I think it is because they started planning rp events which makes people only want to play during these events. Apparently according to techno some people kept turning delaying events. All of this causing people to play less and less and fading away with no big updates to the story. So the story has been kinda shit lately

2 years later but I think COVID-19 in 2020 is what spiked the Minecraft community. Back then we didn't have anything else to do while on lockdown so we'd watch. But now that things are back to normal we have better things to do again!

Tbh, for me, even if the storyline stops, and seeing them just playing around in the server by blowing up houses and collecting resources... I would still watch them and find it entertaining!

And the SMP ended. Toxic and mid community and with Dream cheating, it made the situation even worse. Anyway, time to watch Hermitcraft! The longest SMP ever created consisting of some of the most creative people in Minecraft that has godly skills in building, redstone and PVP and also don't give a shit about lores because they only wanted to have fun.

what if the lore just ended but the server is still there where the members just log on to do stuff other than lore, you know like having some fun together. Maybe the storyline right now is just a build-up to the end of the lore but not the server. Who knows but I really hope it dosent end or I will be in a spiraling depression until like the next hunderd years.
