    Rodman's brilliance is still unknown. I follow his example when I play pick-up games with people I don't know - clearing space, getting in position for the rebound, kicking it out to the guy who is in position to pass to an open shooter.
    Everybody wants to score, but having five scorers on a team is totally unnecessary, and Rodman figured that four scorers + one rebound monster is better than five scorers on a team.

    In New Zealand rugby, the number seven (loose forward) is the most important position. In the Northern hemisphere (UK) the number 10 is. The number 7 is the person who tackles, creates turnovers, is the first to the breakdown (where the forwards battle), secures the ball for his team, and gets possession like the worm. People who don't understand rugby won't see this. Number 10 is like the point guard, makes decisions, distributes the ball and dictates the game, but a good 7 will mean 'how many times' the 10 gets the ball for offense. Rodman got some much possession, that him team got that many more opportunities to score that they wouldn't normally get. Rodman would make a great number 7 in rugby

    I don’t know if I remember correctly, but the “Worm” was back to back defensive player of the year and averaged 24 rebounds per game, also won back to back championships with the Bad Boys circa 1989-1990.

    • @bricefleckenstein9666
      @bricefleckenstein9666 Před 2 lety

      You do not remember correctly.
      Dennis's best rebounding seasons were 18.7 and 18.3 - which for their era were VERY impressive and impressive for all-time after adjusting for pace.
      The only folks to EVER manage 24 for a season were named "Wilt" and "Bill" and that number would be 10'th on the all time list.

    I'll confess I was a huge Bulls fan, saw Dennis in his time in Det and w/Chicago; and I moved to San Antonio while he was still there. I always thought he was 6'9" and built more like Pippen then Jordan. True story, I got to see one Bulls game live, w/my sister. Super nosebleed seats, you could barely see the numbers and you really couldn't tell who was on the floor; except for 2 guys Jordan w/how long he stayed in the air and Rodman b/c of those crazy colors in his hair. I still remembering thinking he was the best rebounder in NBA history w/how he pushed around and out rebounded an in his prime Shaq; and IMO Shaq is one of the greatest to ever play the game, I rarely saw anyone stop him w/out question the most explosive/atheletic 7 ft'r I've ever seen play.

    • @bricefleckenstein9666

      MJ wasn't a great 3 point shooter - fairly good though.
      Larry Legend though, with a REASON to practice the shot? OMFG!
      Rodman's low scoring wouldn't be an issue on THAT team - let him shut down the opposing best player!
