Just pre-ordered mine today, yours is the only video I can find properly reviewing it, thank you so much 🙏
That means a lot! You’ll love it!
It’s so great to see you back with digital reading content! 🙌🏾
Kobo is better than Kindle. I use both but Kobo wins for me
Thank you so much for your timely reviews of the new colour Kobo's!
Libra color 2 vs Libra 2... Side by side ... Most eagerly awaited ... Great content 👍
Very nice video. For the price, it’s a fantastic offering
Great review! Would you review the Clara BW? It'd be nice to know how much it improved from the 2E, the e-reader I now have and love
By far the best review available anywhere right now! Subscribed!
Thank you! Welcome aboard!
Thank you Faiz for such a thorough review.
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks. I bought the Clara 2E a few weeks ago and for now I don't see the need to upgrade to a colour version. Most of people just read books on a e-reader. Btw you can side-load music/audio books on those readers (unofficially) but with a very minimal interface. At least on the previous versions. You still use BT of course. Don't forget the indispensable "calibre" software for all your unprotected e-books. A master of all trades.
Thanks for such a great review! Can you share what highlighting and typing notes with your fingers is like on the clara and libra colour?
I currently have the libra h2o and have always found doing this very laggy and experienced a lot of ghosting compared to my kindle oasis 3.
I tend to use my ereaders with the light off unless it’s dark, the light drains battery faster and without the light the screen looks exactly like paper so feels better to read on
Thank you for including info on the battery life 👍
Thanks for this. Do you have a Kobo Clara 2e or Libra 2 that you can compare these new models to?
hi thank you for the review can you do a comparison video of the clara colour and the libra colour
Amazing review. I totally believe and agree when you said it is the BEST color e-reader in the market today!Inkpad Color 3 dethroned 💯 Can't wait to receive mine on 30th 🥳
Thank you! You’ll love it when you receive it!
Great review!!!!!!
This is the best review of any e-readers. I have the Amazon kindle for reading books and wanted something to read comic books. Thank you for the review.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thaaaaank you for finally showing it with the light off. Now I hope you can show them with the light off in natural sunlight. I just wish they where out already 😁
I have a Kobo Clara 2e that I've just bought almost a year ago and I love it more than I thought I would. I just bought it to not have to lug books around and I ended up loving the experience of reading on an e-reader. And I've chosen this model because it was the cheapest with "confort light" technology, which I have always on even during the day. I always go back and forth with the decision of upgrading to a libra (which I do now have a really great excuse to do so, with the colour model, specially now that it has kobo pen support). But the price, size and simplicity of the clara model it's just too hard to beat. Also, something that no1 talks about: the clara 2e has a "Sketch Pad" section, under the More > Beta Highlights menu, I suppose the clara colour has one as well. It doesn't support pen, but you can write/doodle stuff with your fingers (I suppose a capacitive pen will work too). So there's that ;) Thanks for the amazing review.
Can you doodle with the highlights beta feature on the text? Or is it just a notebook? I have been gifted Clara 2E but I haven’t opened it because I’m not sure about changing the model. I’d like to know if Clara 2E allows you to highlight and make keyboard notes
I have a kobo clara HD for about 5 years and it's still working good, but I must admit that this one is tempting me. I'm superficial enough to buy it only to have colored book covers like i always wanted.😂
The only thing is missing is the cloud sync with Dropbox and Drive. I got used to not having it with the Clara HD, but they could've add it here.😭
The same thing I was going to say except I Don't use Dropbox or Drive.lol
I also have the Clara HD, and I also want this just for colerd covers lol
I'm not sure if this Clara doesn't have Drive or Dropbox integrated in the software, but you could always access those through the web browser though.
@@willyzita No I checked. Only the Libra colour version has the cloud sync. I don't know why but if i try to login in the browser of the clara hd, the Drive page never loads. 🤷🏻♀️ It works for you? it's a pity that we still have the browser in beta.
I already have the Kobo Clara 2E (actually only had it about 2 weeks when I saw they were coming out with the coloured version, I was so bummed) but is the new colour Clara the same physical size as the Clara 2E??? I want to get the new one but I like the case I have for the one I have and I’m wondering if it’ll fit the new one.
Does the power button on this kobo Clara color feel like rubber like from previews kobo?
Will you be making a switch from kindle to kobo? I am an apple guy; however I’ve come to terms with them not making an ereader anytime soon. Would you venture more to the kobo interface or is kindle still the winner in your opinion?
My favorite e-reader reviewer on CZcams 😍
You're the best 😘
Very nice video...
But i have a question
Is it true that compared to the kobo clara 2e the words are a little blurred?
What are your thoughts on reading comic books on the clara colour? Is it too small? I am considering downsizing from a libra and was not sure.
Hello there.
Thanks for that. Really loved the review.
Any chance you'll get to review the 3rd new kobo (Clara bw).
My e-reader died recently and I'm not sure I'll need the colour display so I'm wondering if the bw wouldn't be better for me.
I will try to get my hands on one soon!
I would like to see that too !👆
The Clara is not “entry level” the Nia is. I’ve tried most of Kobo’s current offering and the Clara is simply the best for me due to ergonomics. It hardly a step down in specs and features, just a different shape and size.
The Libra would cause me wrist pain first because I tend to read laying on my side, second because while the design is tried and true, they completely messed up the cantilever point and too much weight is too far out from the grip point. If you have long fingers this should not be an issue
Or if you are stronger then it will be not a problem at all.
Can you read books on landscape mode?
Have you reviewed the boox color ereader? I’m trying to decide which is better
can I access my kindle books from this device?
Thanks for the review! This just solidified my decision to get the Clara.
Quick question, are you able to listen to audiobooks through overdrive?
No unfortunately, only Kobo audiobooks.
Are these big enough for picture books?
Regarding performance, there isn't much to talk about with e-readers but I do think it also matters how responsive the UI is. My Kindle Paperwhite is older and simple things like changing the UI or shopping are painfully slow.
Can it be shipped to Indonesia?
If I use apps like marvel unlimited is that a no go on this?
One more baby 🎉
Is it better than Kobo glo hd?
Does the slightly bigger screen of the Libra Color changes the reading experience (especially for reading comics)?
Hi there… any thoughts on this one?
Is this good enough to read my comic books?
Is it possible to load in books or apps? I have a lot invested in my kindle/audible library.
yes i heard you can with calibre :)
Hi can you still highlight books with the Kobo Clara color? Great informative video!
Yes you can! Thanks!
Thank you for your review. Does this have Pocket integrated? I am mostly a "long journalism" article reader. I have been out of this e reader market for that reason, i read books but mostly articles. I still do not understand why they keep doing these devices for books only and not for professional and legal paid journalism articles. It is like if you buy a stereo receiver that works only for classical music, i still don´t get it.
Yes it has Pocket. :)
Is the back also a bit grippy like the Libra or just the same pattern as Libra but in plastic?
Same exact as the Libra
@@FaizAly nice I always find Clara HD’s plastic back to be too slippery.
Tell me about the Audio Book capability... it says that it can play Kobo Audiobooks, by bluetooth I assume. I wonder if it also would be able to play downloaded ebooks from Libby or Hoopla or is it proprietary and just works on Kobo Audio books? ALSO... I have a Kobo eReader from last year and typically listen to audiobooks on our cell phone. Would purchasing a cheap android tablet to listen to audiobooks and have extra functions make sense instead of picking this color Clara for me?
Only Kobo audiobooks. I get library audiobooks out on my phone using Libby which I prefer as my phone is with me 24/7.
This might be a little niche, but does the clara 2e case fit the clara colour?
No, the dimensions are not different. Unfortunately.
I wish I could purchase a Kobo ereader and place all of my Amazon Kindle ebooks on it. Amazon sucks in comparison to Kobo to release great ereaders.
There are ways but you would have to remove the drm from the amazon books. Wish it were simpler but amazon doesn’t want that.
@@Davo32795 Thank you! I will just wait for a color Kindle device.
Thank you for this video. Would you say the Clara or the Libra has the better aspect ratio for graphic novels?
Thanks! Personally I prefer the Libra. The larger screen makes it better
@@FaizAly thank you for your fast reply. It's so hard to tell just by looking at videos. Will be my first E-Reader and everyone seems to love the Kindle basic. Even if they own the paperwhite too. I thought maybe the Clara been the same size would be the right choice but this been colour and opening up the option for comics has thrown a spanner in the works of my choosing lol
You’ll love it!
I own a libra, but this clara looks perfect for comic books. but paying 160$ just for another ereader to read comics isn't worth it now. I wish I could trade in my libra for a libra colour.
The point is the colour ones are rather dim with the lights off. I need a new advanced BW reader rather than an old model with a colour screen that requires Light ing to be on all the time.
Are there Kobo gift cards, like Amazon, so that you don't have to charge your purchases to a credit card? Thank you.
Yes
I’m so glad they did a smaller affordable colour e-reader because I have a feeling Amazon are going to keep colour tech for their larger ‘higher end’ devices.
I agree!
Between the Libra and the Clara, which one do you prefer?
Libra
I'm still confused. I don't understand if is more dark than a kobo white and black. For example if i read with the sun light (at 0%), this kobo is more dark than an oldo kobo white and black with 300 dpi?
Yes it is darker. But I don't even notice anymore. I came from the Clara HD. It's a trade-off for colour I guess.
Now you have tried both Clara and Libra Color. Which one do you like the most?
I would really appreciate a model with a slightly bigger screen (like the Kindle Paperwhite).
Coming from the Paperwhite I so wish the Clara had a slightly larger display
Do you Recommended it if you just going to use it for audiobooks ?
Just for audiobooks it’s not worth it. There are way cheaper options
Easiest option is to listen to them on your phone.
you should do a side-by-side between this and paper white screens WITH ZERO LED light. it's interesting to see the delta in default contrast/ whiteness of the display without thinking it's just brought up by more powerful LEDs
Does is still have reading stats section?
Yep
Great review! But I thought the Gallery 3 is the best e-ink paper in the market for color today? I heard it will be the tech Kindle will use for theirs. This is in reference @2:18
No. It's actually quite the opposite.
@@GirlyEnglishGamer Ohhh so the Gallery 3 sucks? Ugh.
0 % light is for reading outdoors during daytime.
Exactly but also inside with the sun light through the windows. So I don't understand if is dark at 0%. This is important for me for an eventual buying
Black suit you better 👍
My outfit? 🤔
@@FaizAlyyes black is better , don't wear white made you look short.
I thought this was a valuable review. I don’t think this is the ereader for me even though I prize the colour!!
My reasons:
1. kobo clara, according to Faiz, does not support text annotations. (Please correct me if I’m wrong.)
2. The kobo annotations only live on the kobo if they’re non-kobo-origin books. They can’t sync with online books on a kobo app.
This is unlike the kindle experience. So if the kobo is ever reset, all annotations are gone.
I'm not a huge fan of the gray background on these color e-ink displays. I'm holding out for a different implementation of color. 😬
Pretty bad contrast, much worse than the cheaper B/W Kobo Clara
Lol did this need a separate video?!? Rinse and repeat Libra colour.
I said it in the beginning that those coming from my libra colour review might find this a bit repetitive. However this video is solely for those who are only interested in the Clara Colour
Have you even preordered yours? Are you one of those people who simply watch videos and never even get to the point of actually buying 💯🤣
@@brownwallet942 preordered a week ago. Was excited to watch his Libra colour video. Clara colour offers very little difference that he couldn’t cover and combine in the other video. Watch clicks. YT is getting inundated with all these same videos showing the same stuff. The rest of us that are actually comparing and deciding between other options/models still don’t have a comprehensive video that compares even its predecessor, the Libra 2.
@@RedshirtX Cool cool! It's exciting to see any news about the Color. This video is intended for those who want to get this as their first e-book reader, but if there's something for those who are past that stage, it clarified one thing: the screen is definitely brighter than the Bigme color device that the other reviewer was comparing his black and white readers to. You know, that video that discourages people from getting colored e-inks! Can't wait to make my own comparisons when mine arrives
@@brownwallet942 Agreed and excited to get mine. I think like with many who have pre-ordered, we are looking for confirmation that we made the right decision vs picking an older, yet reliable tech like the Libra 2. Ultimately for myself, I was ok with a slightly dimmer screen, but I just could not stand a slower experience. Knowing this one has a faster processor was the deciding factor for me. Cheers and thanks for reading and respecting my comments.
I want it so bad 🥹
Good review. But does the Clara colour have Dropbox facility?
Apparently not but you can add it with NickelMenu
Nope only Pocket.
