    the pull is the lore and the story, and since a majority of players are clueless it's kind of strange it's doing as well as it is. The lore is closer to Elden Ring than Zelda but the world is copied from Zelda so I get the confusion around what is actually happening. The appeal is to combine a fluffy world with savage devastating story telling it catches you off guard the only downside with the game is that you have to wait for each update. Players that start now have not felt that experience nearly the same.

      @Silver-Arrow Před 6 dny +1

      Aside from lore specific personalities like ashikai, I hardly see anyone talk about the lore outside of the playable cast. This is also insane considering the amount of references to practically every media: plays, myths, religions, etc. it's equally insane how little main story events even call to some of these things (Mona is a year one character and we only just now got main story bits about hexenzirkel). Some of the best lore that is directly introduced are the sibling hunt quests but that feels as if its a yearly 1 hour quest then we go back to waiting.

      @@Silver-Arrow It's becasue Hoyo thinks this game can last forever so they have structured it that way. I kind of think that we are STILL just in the build up phase for the game. I understand that might sound crazy but no real event has yet happened. Fontaine didn't affect anyone outside Fontaine. Heavenly Principles still asleep, Sinners not really a threat in Theyvat yet. But I can see that many puzzle pieces are getting into place for the real event to take place. You Have a librarian that is researching forbidden Khaenriahn history probably in secret from Jean she is going to have a stroke when she finds out that Lisa is just playing a persona and not lazy at all so that intrigue is already set up by Hoyo. You have a pissed off dragon that is regaining her strength in Sumeru very frustrated with her archon and the pace she understands and grows. It's not as easy that the dragons hate the archons because they seem to make an effort to correct what I think they suspect they are responsible for. You have another pissed off dragon in human form with the ability to control Primordial water, and you have an archon that most likely was a part of the Heavenly Principles (Venti) His allegiance is still unknown. But I suspect this is just background information. The real plot is going to be about the Sinners, the Six Pygmies and how to revive our sibling by rebirthing Khaenri'ah , because I heavily suspect that those are connected. And we JUST started on that path with the loom of fate.

    • @Silver-Arrow
      @Silver-Arrow Před 6 dny

      @@alexanderericson8628 yeah all of these things are hype on paper, but I just wish hoyo actually makes it clear that these things are in play rather than drip feeding us. At some point these cards will have to be played and by then we can only hope that the dialogue will be digestible since entire acts may be dedicated just to understanding the scope of it to the uninformed. Natlan and especially Snezhnaya may pivot in this direction to alleviate this, and worldbuilding can be relegated to region events such as their "lantern rite" or "windblume" after all we do spend a year practically dedicated to that region.

    • @alexanderericson8628
      @alexanderericson8628 Před 6 dny +1

      @@Silver-Arrow The first part of Honkai Impact is rather thought together. But I do understand what you mean Hoyo also seem to think that everything in the game is easy to understand, which is just not true. Irminsul was not explained at ALL until Sumeru. I genuinely believe they messed that part up. I understand why they made it like they did, they want to keep everything a mystery but to hide core information from the player creates a bad kind of confusion. Some line about that the sibling is related to dragons would also be healthy because I don't think players in general have any clue that we are closer to dragons than humans. I still think Hoyo has one more card to play. Very unusual that they make a story were there are just evil villains, I can't recall that actually. So what the heavenly principles is doing to lifeforms in Theyvat probably has an explanation but that is going to take years to come to that. Hoyo is currently planning on building up Heavenly Principles as the big bad. But I kind of think Theyvat is a simulation of hell, and that ALL lifeforms are banished for whatever reason to Theyvat. A world that has not yet proven that it should be birthed. It's like a giant simulation to see if people can break out of fate, like Childe is doing for example.

    i realized that i don't have the same drive i had originally when i first started genshin. once i realized that majority of the fundamental problems they had at launch will most likely never be fixed, it's left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. the only reason i play now is to get furina to c6. i don't care for any other characters because i know grinding for resources is gonna be a bitch and a half, and i still have characters i haven't built fully yet.
    if i don't get at least 3 cons on this next rerun im quitting. been saving since navia, better not be for nothing.

    I still play Genshin daily after 3 years and I've never felt burnt out once. I always get up early for updates, especially when a new region comes out. I just love the game and it's comforting to play it daily, especially since I play together with my sister. I think what keeps me sane is the fact that I stopped grinding exploration for primos, I only do Abyss if I feel like it, which is almost always the case and I hunt achievements for the hunting process not for the primos as well. I also only build characters that I like and not specifically for the dmg. Sure I have some stellar builds by now, but I'm also fine if it's not as great. I'm in a position where I have enough good characters that I can pull a Sigewinne without worrying if she might be good for Abyss or not. Just because she is adorable.
    I had a time recently where I felt a bit tired of Genshin, but it was just a short period after Wuthering Waves came out and I spent so much time there, that barely any was left for Genshin. But I enjoy them both for different reasons. And since Updates don't overlap I'll probably be able to juggle them quite nicely.
    PS: I know that I'm quite blessed for retaining that excitement of playing a game over such a long time! If you only play to farm primos, then dont do it, take a break!

    seems like a lot of people still play cause they really do what they want and are able to do it without any problem so they enjoy the game, then there´s people still playing and think the game will improve kinda like what happens with Warframe for some people.
    Day 2 player, after some time discovered the combat was very clunky for me (no fluidity in any type of movement) and if your ping is +180 there are long delays and enemies become retarded, unfortunately those 2 things fused for me and I didn´t enjoy the combat as much.
    When I left, the fun and kind of hard bosses were Andrius, Childe, Azdaha and Signora but I did not enjoy fighting them because of the reasons mentioned before.
    Albedo is for me what Childe is for you though, combat even with my fav char is really boring.
    I expected at least some fluidity that HI3rd Combat had at the time Genshin launched but it didn´t come even close. (Also ping doesn´t matter in HI3rd´s Combat)
    In WuWa your ping also matters if it´s 300 or higher so at the ping range Genshin feels laggy Wuwa does not and allowed me to enjoy more the combat.
    Last but no least, I think because I really liked HI3rd Story and GI Story isn´t that great for me influenced a lot on my enjoyment.

    As a player from day one of Genshin I can give my answer as to why I play literally every day, do every quest, get almost every character, explore 100% everything, and never feel burned out:
    I don't treat Genshin as a game I play all the time. Heck, I don't really treat Genshin as a normal game at all and it's mostly a quick little 5-10 minutes each morning after work and on my days off.
    Each patch's content only realistically takes up maybe 6 or 7 days of my free amidst the 6 week patch cycle (by free time I mean something like 4-6 hours sitting down to play it for story, exploration, etc) and that's only 1/6th of those weeks.
    Genshin is a game AND it's an experience with a deeply crafted and constructed world full of things to find and lore to uncover in just about every inch of the open world and I don't judge it's worth on endgame content or on how much free stuff they hand out because none of that matters.
    I quite literally get a whole game's worth of content every year with the advent of a new patch cycle's .0 to .2 and then everything else beyond that is like free dlc added on that just expands my appreciation for the characters involved in the various regions and story along with expanding and revealing more lore piece by piece.
    Genshin is a fantastic game but it's only so fantastic as long as you don't turn it into a chore in your own head.
    It's just a game and you can play OTHER games in-between playing Genshin so that you get a mix of multiple games and never feel burnt out.
    That's my take, and I don't even like the gacha part of the game either so it's not really an addiction for me since I spend within my means and never overstep simply getting who I want to have.

  • @Swagbastian
    @Swagbastian Před 10 dny

    You acknowledge the psychological tactics employed in the game and the bad parts of it, but you still say that it's an objectively good game? It is not. The fact "that it's still an enjoyable experience for a lot of other people" doesn't reflect the overall objective goodness of the game. People still have fun watching bad movies but that doesn't mean the movies are good.
    Genshin has 100 percent had a negative impact on society overall. The success of the gacha business model has shown other companies that enough people are fine with practices as predatory as the ones employed in Genshin, which means that they will start or continue employing similar practices in their own companies in the future. The greedy people are winning in society at this point.
    I do commend you for recommending that people don't play Genshin.
    Anyway, this was a well-made and quality video. You've earned my sub.

  • @Yesido470
    @Yesido470 Před 10 dny

    Honestly, genshin is the best hoyoverse game because since it's a gacha game, the only characters you need are archons. The only exceptions are kazuha and Arlecchino. Basically, you don't need anything else to complete the entire content in the game and you can call it "comfortcreep". In Star Rail, however, the life cycle of a character is 4-5 months, so it doesn't matter that it is more f2p-friendly since to beat the endgame you have to be up to date all the time and that also means a lot of grinding, so in my opinion it is a poor experience. ZZZ will probably offer something between these two worlds. I realized this not long ago, because I left the game in 2.8 and honestly I'm wondering whether to come back.

    I have a friend, we argue a lot because of Genshin. I'm a 1.0 player, she's a 3.0 player. I see all the problems and constantly rant about them, she's on a positive side and constantly says she enjoys the game, the events and everything else and that if i hate the game that much i should just quit. No matter how many times i explained that i don't hate the game (i'm just disappointed by it) and that i have the right to be annoyed and criticize smth i like - she doesn't understand, because "things i want" are pointless and the game is good as it is.
    Tbh, i know my limit the best. And i'm sure i'll quit after the Snezhnaya (when story finishes in 6.2), because it's the only plot point that interests me (+ i am from Russia, so i want to see how they'll do Snezhnaya). By that time i'll probably get my c6 Itto and c5-6 Zhongli, so it'd be a nice time to quit.
    I don't play that often as i used to anyway. Like if a year ago i was still login daily, these days it'll be a miracle if i log in at least twice a week. Usually it's less. I went on vacation not long ago and couldn't take my laptop with me, so i skipped two weeks of the game, and you know what? I understood that i finally can quit any moment and i'll be fine. When i only started playing or even a year later, going on two weeks vocation without this game felt like a torture. I couldn't wait to get back and play. And now i'm fine. I still have fomo, but it's not as severe as it used to be. Good progress. I guess the fact of my disappointment with the game played the big part in my mental shift stage.
    Well, slowly we'll get to Snezhnaya, one year left, and then i'll say my goodbyes to this game.

    I've been playing since around 2.3 till now, no major pauses. And I still enjoy learning new kits and exploring the world. Sure, it gets a little boring during the later patches of the region, but I'm still looking forward to new content, new maps.
    It's also worth saying that slow/lack of certain QoL updates doesn't bother me all that much, definitely not to the point of wanting to quit or saying "HSR is much better" or "WuWa is much better". They're still distinct enough to me that I don't want to drop one of them. And I don't think it's just because I'm "addicted" or something. I just think that what I've experienced so far in terms of characters, story, music and graphics and exploration is still good enough for me to keep playing.
