Yes, thank you. I was the Brooklyn high school cross country record holder way back when. That distinction and the cost of a token, at that time, would get me on the subway! :)
I am interested in competing in cross country events and would also love to try a marathon. If you would have any advice on how to get started and possibly join some kind of club or running group/organization l would appreciate it very much! I thank yuo once again!

@@vincentdesiano4861 I've done 8 marathons so far and, BQ'd in 2019. I would say to get a good running coach. That has helped me tremendously over the years. Training for a marathon usually takes 16 weeks and, ALOT can happen in that time. A coach can adjust your training based on your progression and, also prevent you from overtraining and undertraining., The biggest thing about marathon training is to prevent injury. A good coach can help! Good luck, my friend!

Maybe one episode or video you can do is on longevity. Pick some runners-recreational, sub-elite, elite-who have run for a very long time, say, 10yrs +, and ask them tips on how they’ve managed to run so long. Thinking about how to do this sustainably could be a great topic

Especially refreshing knowing that a top athlete doesn't follow a strict diet, but knows how to eat healthy by paying attention to cues from her body (while also allowing herself simple indulgences here and there!) Running totally calms my brain too. I don't have any ADHD diagnosis, but I definitely feel the effects of running on my brain. It's like meditation for me. Molly's DNF at Boston helped me make a wise decision around my own DNF recently. It saved me from doing something stupid that would have made my injury worse and possibly long term damage. I need to try some Puma shoes.

On that last question, should you train in your race shoes, she's a (deserving) sponsored athlete. At $200 a pair, I'll save my carbon plates for the race and maybe a few training runs to test and run in something a lot more affordable the rest of the time.

I was lucky enough to have a bit of time to chat to Molly ahead of the filmed interview and took that opportunity to run her through the questions that had been sent in to make sure she was comfortable with the various topics. I think it's more that she is known to have issues in this area. Ie if you were talking to an amazing musician with known drug problems starting by talking about rehab instead of their music or achievements is sort of weird starting point . Many clubs will help out with low income runners, maybe shoes but if not training, coaching, race entry/ travel.
