Recently I've really been into recording string quartet arrangements on the hurdy-gurdy. In "Iron", I've added some percussion, which is just the soundboard "kick" and tangent box lid "snare" that I modified in my DAW to emulate the original song, and also recorded a little flute part in the second verse. I love the brass parts in the original, playing them on the gurdy is a whole mood. 💝 Loved recording and producing this one!

What do you tune your gurdy in? Especially on your metal songs, acoustic. I wanna replicate in flames stuff

Hi! In Iron, I used the C3 string. My tuning really depends on the song I am playing, sometimes I tune the melody string to match the original song (which may result in unusual tunings such as F#, B, Bb, D) and sometimes I transpose the song to match my regular gurdy tuning (C/G/C). I made the video with In Flames riffs a long time ago, so unfortunately I don;'t remember the exact tuning. :( Sorry!

For me, the mixing kills it. It sounds too wide and it has too much reverb and the vocals are poorly done. I've noticed that often those recordings sound like mono track was widened, which has wierd feel but most people don't tend to notice, or don't speak about it much, dismissing it.
