Dirt Bike Magazine tests the 2022 Yamaha YZ250F at Fox Raceway. The YZ250F has been the Dirt Bike Magazine 250 Shootout winner for several years in a row. It has repeatedly been favored for its power characteristics and stability on the track. Yamaha has revised the suspension, changed the wheels, and added Dunlop MX33 tires to it. Will these little changes keep it on top in 2022? Only time will tell. We have a ton of 250Fs coming in and we will be comparing the Yamaha to all of them as we inch closer to our 2022 250F Shootout. Until then, check out our opinions after Day 1 on this new motorcycle!

Ok so I have a 2020 yz250f with 45 hours on it rn and the suspension is getting gold valves rn as well. Should I keep the forks and get a 22 or just keep the 20 all together until after next season

The changes from 2020-2022 are minimal. I would wait for the 2023

Any place for mere mortals to test ride in So Cal? Would love to ride one. I have a fully modded 2015 WR250F that I love but isn’t suited for the track. Just hoping this model YZ isn’t too much for me. Guess I could load the slow map.

i just picked up my 2022 yz250f like less then a week ago. it’s fast it’ll feel crazy powerful compared to your wr. but with the linear smooth torque map you should be fine

If your going to buy an X just don't buy anything at all 125x 450x they're just dumb and pointless if you want mellower power just buy a 50
