Shoutout to the decontamination specialist.
Absolutely love these long road trip videos. Completely unique on youtube - that "hopper" house photo was epic
Only CZcamsr where I'll actually sit through a 75 minute episode
There are only a couple of them on my list, too. This is one.
Hell, I'm even here re-watching a 75 minute episode. After finishing re-watching the 168 minute episode
Hi, one of the many random people you met at the Ferries on Film meetup in Seattle - just wanted to say it was a lot of fun meeting you guys and glad you had such a good time in Seattle! I was the one with the weird soviet FED 2 Leica copy.
I can't believe you bailed on that spooky AF house. So much photo potential there!
I'm photographing almost my entire life and I hate to admit it but I suck at forrest photos. The high contrast between shadows and sun coming through the branches is always killing me. You make it in both, video and analog photography, look like it's the most easy thing ever. Would really love a video about how you approach difficult lighting. I know you did the metering video but I watched it and I still suck.
It is dependant on your chosen film's dynamic range. Slide film is very bad at it, while Cinestill 800T that Jason uses has a very wide DR.
Diffusion filters may help if you shoot digital, though I don't know which of them specifically Jason uses
@@unn4medfeel1ng coincidentally I've been looking up different diffusion filters this morning. If I remember it correctly he uses Black Pro Mist but don't quote me on that.

‘Mama Mia, papa pia, diarrhea 7’ had me dying. Had no right to be that funny
I live in Portland and it’s kind of trippy to see you going to so many places I see all the time 😅 also, I just painted my nails nearly the same color, making things even weirder. Cape Disappointment is so underrated.
Always happy to see a new video from you 👏🏻
Hm I guess this explains the Ferries on Film spike in followers about a month ago... Thanks for joining us and for your glowing review of the meetup. We enjoyed sharing a glimpse of the Seattle film community with your group!
Dude! As a Seattle based photographer, it was super cool to see the subjects you chose to shoot in Pike, on the ferry, etc. Also had no idea Ferries on Film existed, thanks for the req, will definitely check out!
Also, in my experience down at the Cape, the real Disappointment are the friends we made along the way… Loved the vid!
I've literally been binge-watching every single video of yours for a week or so, and after this I do not what to do with my life!!!
I love you Jason... oh I meant Monica & Baxter:))
Graaaah another hour+ video to escape the existential dread of being in my mid 20s
so real
You should 50 you whining knob
Stupid thing to say, you're lucky to be alive.
@@canturgan Stupid thing to say, people are allowed to feel the emotions they feel.
Waiting at the airport for way too long to head home from vacation. Jason, sometimes your long videos are a lifesaver.
Today’s episode on Grainydays: Jason goes on a roadtrip in the Pacific Northwest to let go from Aerochorme Syndrome but ended up suffering even more.
One thing I've noticed is that filters really attract the sun and cause flares and reflections. It also eliminates the purpose of lens hoods as it draws the element more out into the light.
Goddayumm. Another 1hour banger. Props to Jason shooting and editing a movie. Jokes crack me up
Always love to watch these long form vids and get a feel for your flow, style, and composition. Absolutely loved this one! background vibes were immaculate and shots were 10/10. Nice one!
Love the ambient and sentimental tracks you use. thanks for uploading
I've been watching your videos every so often and have been binging your channel recently; really happy about a longer upload^^ thank you.
So many interesting places. US just looks so artistically pleasing, like nothing looks out of place.
Gotta say your videos are really calming while also being informative and lighthearted. Keep it up
I love these roadtrips of yours, always a blast to watch.
Wonderful documentary, Jason. Very happy you are happy with the results. The ferry interiors are rich in detail and mood, and you truly nailed the “Hopper” building exterior shot. Looking forward to the next road trip. Cheers.
Wow! Such high quality - filming, editing, sound and jokes. Love all about it!
That was a great watch, and super worthy of an hour + of my time. And, I agree, some really awesome shots!
Brilliant! What a great story teller you are 🙌
Jason decided to take his lack-of-Taco-Bell-induced anger out on us and treat us with the highest ad frequency seen on earth
Just buy youtube premium if you’re gonna complain about ads. There’s a solution. Creators still get paid and you dont have to watch 4 million ads anymore.
Got Premium, don't see them 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t have premium, I don’t think I had one?
Crap. I broke it; the moment I sent this I had one. At 54 minutes in.
@@jergophotowho’s complaining? I love me some good old ads
These are QUICKLY becoming my favorite style of youtube video! Amazing stuff
These long videos are my favourite. I also recently just got the canon wp-1 so it’s cool to see you using it
Great vid. You do a wonderful job of story telling. Thanks.
I walked from 9pm to 7pm the next day to get to that abandoned nuclear park during a training event once. Looked awesome seeing the lights of it off in the distance getting closer for a full day!
😮
Looked like a fun trip. Beautiful photos.
Amazing photos, thanks for the trip.
such a joy to watch, who knew roadtrip and photography would make such good content! Love how you put it together.
jason , this is a wonderful video and it was pure entertainment for me. thank you and the crew for that. the pictures were beautiful.
Love the longer vids and the road trips.
Love you using the reto. Those shots were bangers
Living in Victoria I was smiling that entire portion of the video. It was so cool seeing another perspective on the streets and locations I've been to so many times. Next time extend your road trip up our coast here too!
Watch the whole thing, that was awesome!
Great watch, pacing, story telling. Enjoyable.
Loved to see that Midwest Film Co. got in on the action. I've got some Vision3 50D & 250D from them that I'm excited to shoot with - especially after seeing your Cinestill 800T shots. The interior of that boat in Seattle was 🙌
Really really enjoyed that video. Thank you for making it.
Loved every minute of this.
I really like the 'roll recap' style of showing your shots in this video, maybe Im dumb and its not a new thing but it think it works better in this long form video. Some fantastic shots, keep it up!
This video came right in time now that I need to do selections on a huge set. Perfect sidescreen activity yeaaaahhyy
what a cool road trip. well done.
Love going to Blue Moon so much such a cool store!!!!
Aghhhh, it's always a pleasant surprise to see a new grainyday video up
Banger video! Soundtrack is great!
Another amazing video - thanks Jason. If you're looking for a video topic how about doing something where you explain your thinking/process around the concepts of "keepers" verses "portfolio" shots. What's your portfolio? what has influenced your thinking around what is and isn't worthy of a place.
I liked your photos more than usual too. Looks like a fun heist!
I respect how much you NEVER talk about the great you film with. It would be so easy to, I'm sure, but I honestly appreciate that it's only ever about the film cameras, lenses, and film stocks.
Blue Moon is my favorite place for film and supplies. Great video and pics
End up watching the whole video three times. So good.
I live here in Portland and it was really fun seeing all the places that I take for granted through the eyes of a visitor. I hope you had a good time!
I went with Jason. I’ll save Caleb for tomorrow; I need to ration the good things in my life.
Some real good photos! And a cool video as well.
Well, that's my weekend sorted! Big Love Jason and family!
Enchirito's RULE!!!
Congratulations 🥂… and well deserved.. I look forward to following what I am sure is going to be continued success ..
I hope you had an awesome time in Vic 💙 your photos are always beautiful, regardless what you say.
Loving the fuji industrial 😍
Jason back with another feature film. BRB!
So cool to see grainydays and bad flashes in Victoria BC!
You are absolutely on top of your photography and video game, son.
Nice work! This was great.
i absolutely love the way you document these road trips. if you're ever in Vancouver, Canada I would be honoured to show you around, have a chuckle with you, and attempt to make good photographs.
Loved this
Would love to see more of the IMAX film!
You know Jason is an influencer when after he drops a one hour video it influences me to go out and shoot
PNW light is something else, great shots and video as always!
Congratulations on your release from the black dungeon!
Loved it!
Ferries are the new gas stations of film photography
congratulations, that was fun and inspiring ✌🏼
Great work and video thanks
So cool!❤
Welcome to PNW! Almost no rain from June to the end of August generally around here (Seattle).
Bangerz for days kid.
Your talent in filmmaking/storytelling is unparalleled, but often veiled by your fixation on film photography
I agree. I feel like his photography is getting pretty subpar lately....but maybe that's from the pressure of keep creating since this is his job now. But his video and storytelling is on point
Another hour+ banger!
What a trip to see you in my neighborhood. I live a block from blue moon and shop there a few times a week.
I really liked the Portra VC and NC back in the day.
Blue moon is such an amazing store. I go everytime I go back home
Great video. Music was on point too. 👍🏻
Man those four lokos were rough.
I love long videos where we have time to contemplate
Expired porta vc is my absolute favorite film stock. Nobody ever talks about it, but gaddamn it is so incredible!
I must have put 30 or 40 rolls through my WP-1, It's a fantastic option for bad weather. These Days though I'm much more likely to grab my Konica Genba Kantoku DD, since that one is better designed for cold weather, and it has a 40 and 60 mm focal length.
Literally just finished watching your route 66 video and saw this come up, sick
Those fauxrochrome shots looks so good especially near bodies of water
Come on down to Austin, TX the fall weather and colors are great! Would love to show you some photogeanic spots here.
Jason you’re a national treasure. Love your commentary. You’re the Steven Wright of the photo world. LoL.
18:15 - for those not from the rainy corner, that is a “slash pile.” Basically just logging waste.
Another awesome video. I don’t know if it’s your videos, or the latest release from Bullet From My Valentine, but I now have a strong urge to paint my fingernails.
Seriously though, this is quickly becoming my favorite film photography CZcams channel.
Was just visiting Portland last weekend. Cool folks at Pro Photo Supply; sold me some of that ORWO NC-500
When I moved to portland in 2010 to go to pnca for photography, the first place I lived was in the appartment building on the right at 4:18. Shot soooo much film and crappy early dslr on those streets and in that forest. stupid nostalgia, making me sad n stuff. luckily i have this flaming hot mountain dew to ease my suffering.
Always fun to watch!
A guy with friends engaging with the one life we have, using film as the medium through which to do it. Nice work.
Bold music choices, Dan
