My parents gave me a weighted blanket for my birthday last year. EVERY night since then, I sleep on a memory foam mattress pad, while wrapped in my blanket. I sleep BEAUTIFULLY.

Most weighted blankets have a cover that you can take off of the insert and wash! Its the insert that is heavy not the cover and the cover looks like the insert because they have to be tied together at so many points so it doesn't slip inside it

I’ve had my weighted blanket for over a year now and I love it. I have anxiety and trouble sleeping and it definitely helps. It kind of sucks in the summer though

Anyone who has PTSD these things are a miracle. I'm a Gulf war vet who suffers from PTSD I take medication for sleep but the addition of the weighted blanket has been a godsend. I would say that it's definitely something any person with PTSD who has trouble sleeping might would want to try.
I'm a believer. Ive been an insomniac for almost 35 years. I tried a weighted blanket last week and it changed my life. Ive been sleeping through the night and waking up refreshed before my alarm goes off. Like you, I have also stop taking melatonin.

QuinnT ‘‘twas joking. But every time I astral project I have no control and just blast off into orbit it’s pretty scary actually. And I can wake up from it if I try hard enough just like sleep paralysis, it gets easier over time

I just got a weighted blanket for Christmas! I have severe generalized anxiety disorder and depression and so far it feels really nice! I just changed my sheets into some new Christmas sheets and put my weighted blanket on my bed. Mine weighs 15lbs and it is HEAVY! but it feels like a hug!
I got one at Target last night, and I love it! It's so soft and warm. I've been dragging it around with me all over the house.
Just be careful with a weighted blanket and a cat. They do not have the strength to get out from under them and they can be too much weight for cats to breathe properly under them.

maria G they don’t mean the cat did it intentionally, but rather they way the cat cuddles is less than ideal.
maria G I don’t think it is necessarily a reason to say no to the blankets, but rather something to be aware of. I always make sure my cat is above the weighted blanket before I go to sleep. Even if my cat nuzzles under my comforter (usually on top of the weighted blanket) she has never been able to get herself under the weighted blanket. Just definitely make sure to check the position of the cat before going to sleep.
I get bad anxiety when trying to sleep so my weighted blanket actually helps comfort me. It makes me feel much more secure than a regular blanket.

I got one a couple weeks ago and I love it. Before I got it I would always lay multiple heavy blankets on top of each other but hated all the heat and realized I was subconsciously making a weighted blanket

I feel you! I’ve been an insomniac all my life but it’s so much better now in my 30’s than it was in my 20’s
For me it was all about habits:
Screen/hyper regular bedtime week and weekends/bedtime routine. And accepting that i will still have some. My solution: don’t stay in the bed! Stand up, read or clean and back to the bed.

I got my machine-washable weighted blanket (15 lbs coz I’m petite) from Amazon for $45 because it was on the Deals of the Day. So happy I finally pulled the trigger on it. I had the same experience as her. It took one or two nights to get used to it.
Also, to people who are saying it’s unhygienic to not use duvet cover or top sheet, calm down. Mine has this fleece type feel to it’s really nice and soft so I’d rather feel that than a normal sheet. And I wash it once every 7-10 days. I don’t get why people are so critical about sleeping habits of other people.

I used to struggle with falling asleep but once I set a consistent sleep schedule, yes even on weekends, stopped eating food 3 to 4 hours before bed and started exercising regularly my sleep issues have dramatically reduced.

Currently watching this under my weighted blanket. I love it. I actually got one because I have a tic disorder (similar to tourette's) and ADHD and it honestly is the best even when I'm not sleeping it helps reduce my tics.

I'm autstic + anxious [ and others ] and weighted blankets are a godsend. I sleep so well with mine, and when I get understimulated, I can just have a pressure stim on me at all times. It's so great.

HA! I have been on the fence about purchasing a weighted blanket. The question is how do you know what weight to start with? Are they hot to sleep under? Does it sound like sand when you move with it on? I would like to try using one as well, but I still can’t decide which is worth the cost.

I lot of weighted blankets actually have glass beads sewn into the pockets rather than sand. Sand holds onto a lot of water, so washing sand filled ones would be awful. 😅😅
I've heard many don't make much sound when you move. It really depends on the material it's made of though. If you get a polyester one it might be a crinkly material. Cotton ones shouldn't be too bad.

Love love love my weighted blanket. I feel so safe and secure with it and have been getting a better night’s sleep for months. Btw you can get a much cheaper one on amazon. Mine costed about 60 bucks. But it’s worth the investment if you have anxiety and sleep issues for sure.

I was on the fence about getting a weighted blanket due to the cost but now, I'm giving it more thought I don't have issues getting to sleep but I do like having lots of blankets on me, even during the summer so this might work for me.

i use dense wool filled duvet which is heavier than modern duvet and i think that extra weight helps with calming down
I got it to treat my anxiety and it works really well. Amazon had cheap ones but I found a finnish online store where I got one for 100e
What I am curious about is how hot it is. I sleep rather hot and have tried to simulate a weighted blanket with layers (it works if you don't sleep hot) but I always kick it off because of the heat like two hours into the sleep and then I wake up.

angelsinthewindow i sleep very hot too and i use a weighted blanket and don’t usually overheat in the middle of the night. But i do also have an ac unit that i set to 60 degrees when i sleep so that keeps me nice and cool
I sleep really well when I’m under the top sheet, my comforter and then two more blankets with my fan on full blast. I should consider getting a weighted blanket. I love the feeling of all those blankets on me, I’m sure the weighted blanket will do the same thing but I probably won’t wake up sweating!

0:34 I use to struggle with that too when I was younger. I used to stress out about it as well. Then I just started staying awake getting more things done. Finally realizing I don't need as much sleep as what is considered normal. 4-6 hrs a night, and I'm good. Anything more, and I'm tired, and groggy all day long.

I've slept with a wheighted blanked since i was 7. I'm 21 now. I have ADHD and anxiety and it works really well for me. I started with one that weighted 15 pounds but because i work out a lot i've gotten one that weighs 35 punds and it's amazing!
I have suffered the same sleeping problems all my life like she has. I got a weighted blanket around Christmas time. I am a firm believer in them, they are fantastic! Everything she said was true, from my experience. It feels like your getting hugged all night... love it.

This is the longest ad for a weighted blanket that I have ever watched.
Yes, I have been trying this for the last week but instead of blankets I put lots of fluffy thin pillows all over the top of my body. I just sleep great. The reason is I think is that it makes you less anxious and your body and your thoughts get more grounded to the bed because of the weight and you feel protected which is great for my depressed mind, insomnia and anxiety. And also make sure the temperature around your room is cold.
Just got my 20 pound blanket a couple of days ago... currently stuck in bed up under it at 12:55pm on a Sunday afternoon.
I possibly have sleep apnea and I know the blanket doesn't help with it, but it definitely makes my bed feel super super cozy and comfy.

Germany, Russia, and the middle east all have one of those heavy blankets. Honestly, you can almost always find them in a big wooden closet, we call them blanket closet since the closet was filled with a large variety of blankets.
I love heavy blankets. I sleep with a normal blanket that is nice to touch, a winter 1 layer blanket, and lastly a very thin blanket on top. I am not sure why though.
