I think Raw Beauty Kristy said it best in her video. Being lied to is not okay because it does not stop there….diet products, medication, teeth whitening, literally giving them permission to lie about everything with no consequences. This is how consumers get hurt and if you have accepted it as normal, there is no way you can expect to hold them accountable some times for lying, but not all the time. Lying is not okay and should never be accepted. People work hard for their money, I watch reviews to help decode if the product is really worth it. So if your being paid, I expect you to put that up front, speak it in your review and put it in the title.

Curly hair is beautiful and the things they felt pressured to do to conform to societal expectations are so very destructive to the hair. I preach alot of flaunt it don't fight it with my clients, trying to get them to embrace the things that take just alot of effort and money to change and work with what they have. It always works out better in the long run, both for the hair and the wallet.

I've learned from a Hollywood PR professional who works with celebrities that, 99% of the time, the best thing to do for long-term career survival is to lay low completely until things blow over, then appear again and act like nothing happened, and just continue to do whatever made them famous/popular originally. I assume Mikayla got professional help and was advised to do exactly that.

Mikayla is a problematic person, and I was watching Paige Christie live last night. She brought up a situation from November 2022 involving Mikayla claiming the owner of a black owned brand used vaseline to make her swatches longer. This is a girl who'll throw shade, and do problematic things much like Jaclyn Hill and others. In the end where does it truly get you ? No place good, because you lose full credibility, integrity and respect from people who've supported you, your lifestyle and lined your pockets with their hard earned money. As a makeup lover I am tired of being influenced and tricked into buying something that I don’t need just to make someone an extra penny. Buying another mascara that is just going to expire in 5 months seems really unethical to me, especially during times like this with inflation and the rising cost of rent. I really think over consumption is dead and people are starting to make smarter decisions with their purchases. Having an influencer as big as Mikayla lie and manipulate her followers for the extra buck is extremely irritating and gross.

Part of the reason for the subscriber drop wit apologies is that they almost never seem genuine. Even ones that seem somewhat genuine are often released too late and after all the drama has started to settle down. It almost feels like an individual is being more honest by not addressing the drama or refusing to apologize. There seems to be this mentality that if someone says "I'm sorry," then all of the consequences will just go away. That's not reality. People want a genuine remorse or they see it for what it is, attempting to get out of taking responsibility for bad actions. And don't get me started with false eyelash glue Lord have mercy! I am on a hunt for a non reactive eyelash glue I thought oh my goodness I must be allergic to latex and then I thought... girlfriend you're not allergic to latex you use latex gloves all the time what are you thinking. But I thought well maybe my eyes are just sensitive to latex. The one by Juvia's Place is supposed to be super good for sensitive eyes so it's on my shopping list. I sure do love a false lash every now and then for the right occasion.

The new telescopic mascara is interesting because of the flat side of the Wand..
Last year I had gotten the Charlotte Tillberry Pillow Talk mascara which was a free gift with purchase.
I actually read the instructions how to apply on the box. I honestly don’t think I have ever read the instructions on a mascara…
What was interesting is that the wand is the same as this new telescopic. Charlotte Tillberry description states to brush on a thin coat then use the flat side of the one to press and hold your lashes up for a few seconds before continuing.🤔
I then followed the instructions on one eye and just applied as normal on the other. Definitely a difference when you use the flat side of the wind and push those lashes up and hold to let the mascara dry up a little bit… Who knew that was a thing?

When I was actually allowed to wear make-up I was 14, so makeup feels like a teens and adult thing, not an exclusively adult thing. Sexualised make-up is very creepy when you think that someone in their early teens might be using it. Also as an adult it just seems really tacky.

Mikayla is a pretty disingenuous person, and L’Oreal DEFINITELY threw her under the bus for sales. Shitty behavior all around

So the world turns and points the finger as “see they did this bad thing and they are admitting to it.” Instead of “oh, look they are taking accountability and learning a lesson from their wrong doing.”
I also believe that we need to go offer the brand, yes she did it but what is even worse is that L’Oréal approved it and why are we just upset with the influencer about it, because we all know she wouldn’t have been able to post it under a paid partnership if they didn’t say it was acceptable.
Yes, I do not believe her reviews, but tbh I haven’t ever seen her as someone who is a reliable source.
