I’m a gay man and yet I hate when people call me “girl” just because I’m gay. I totally understand Ian being uncomfortable being called “sister”.
Agree. Being gay doesn't mean you are more feminine. It's a sexual/romantic identity, not a gender identity... so outdated. And honestly, being an ally doesn't mean burying your identity to cater to someone else.
Thank you so much for saying this! I so much appreciate people whom are LBGTQ+ speaking out on this. It’s so frustrating that so many don’t see the hypocrisy.
I have also seen people who try to correct "pronouns" of a person from the LBGTQ+ to say "they/them", when not all want to be refered to as that but by the gender they were born with. Some it's just their sexual preferences, some it's both, etc. Everyone can be different. In the end, we all have to be respectful, not assume and the best way to reffer to someones is always using their name.
Yeah people need to respect boundaries. It's similar to how some people are comfortable with reclaiming slurs in certain contexts (like my friends and I lovingly calling one another queer) but if someone says they're not ok with that you HAVE to respect it.
In the case of gay men being called girl, I can definitely see how for many that can be a trigger for memories of homophobic bullying/harassment, but even when that isn't the case it really comes down to respect for how others want to be treated and not continuing to do or say things that people have expressed discomfort over. (With the exception of people trying to shut down important conversations by saying they are uncomfortable, like getting upset when someone points out that they did or said something racist. But that's entirely different)
@@KraXoom i had no idea people do that. I call everyone dude (I mean. Its a goodburger thing lmao so 🤷) but I had no idea people call gay people girl... it makes no sense in my head
I strongly disagree with you on one point: Bullying his brother is NOT a small, trivial thing. Ignoring "don't call me sister" from 14 year old kids is NOT a small, trivial thing. It's predatory as hell, and it makes me sick that a stop wasn't put to him back then.
PS: the show Glamorous is a lot of fun. Miss Benny is an absolute delight. I think you'll like it :)
It's not trivial when millions of people are watching the videos, including his classmates! That's a whole WORLD of wrong!! 😢
I agree. My mom underestimated the amount of emotional damage my sister did to me. It took me years to overcome. My mom even admitted later on that she should have stepped in sooner.
Cannot understand why parents allowed this crap. Really hope Ian learned to stick up for himself.
I'm a person who uses all pronouns for myself and sometimes I mix up people's pronouns, but I can't imagine not correcting myself or still calling them the way they don't want me to. It's an arsehole move and I hate it. Poor Ian
I’m going to tell you the honest truth: we have to stop idolizing celebs. Part of the problem with these influencers is they’re wanting to be celebs SO badly for the attention. Ie, when you talked about how awesome zendaya is. We need to get to a point where we realize we don’t know celebs. They don’t know us. Ergo being obsessed with the idolatry is harming us.
Agreed. You can casually admire someone’s public persona from a distance, but you have to also acknowledge that the persona isn’t the person; it’s a performative approximation of that person.
It’s also fine to deeply admire a person’s achievements/work. But that admiration shouldn’t leak into the person’s private/personal life because they are still essentially strangers to you-and should remain as such.
Letting that admiration grow into obsessive idolization is inappropriate and unhealthy. It creates unrealistic expectations and can enable delusional thinking. And it’s not fair to either the admirer (fan) or the admired (celebrity).
Very well said. I think enjoying content ppl make from an editing standpoint, creative expression is one thing. But many of these influencer types don't actually have talent. They are idolized because their friends like them, they think they are attractive etc.
@@Dingdongaccountant most influencers have zero talent and gain their following making fools of themselves because it’s so easy to make money. As a trans man, his insistence on calling his brother “sister”-despite his brothers repeated corrections-is despicable. If I had seen that video when it came out I would have immediately known James is not a good person.
same same. I *really* dislike gendered language aimed at me, and my husband really dislikes the wrong gender being aimed at him, so I know from both sides that it's just... socially awkward, uncomfortable, and illfitting *as well as* blatantly disrespectful. And like you could say "oh they're brothers, they're just playing", but nothing about Ian's tone, attitude, or body language implies he's kidding, enjoying it, or in on the joke. He's acting like he's the butt of it.
As someone who doesn't care about my own pronouns, I think other peoples wishes about their way of being addressed should be respected ALWAYS.
Brothers teasing is not an excuse to double down on Ians uncomfort and making him the joke of the video.
Also not taking into account, Ian was young and was probably still be in school with classmates who might take this opportunity tease him at every chance.
James is the same guy who implied he wasn't "100% gay" because hes found trans men attractive 🤢🤢🤢

@@sammieg8641 If you don't identify as cisgender, why do you think they were referring to you?
"No" isn't funny, it isn't a joke, it isn't an invitation to argue. "No." is a complete sentence, a hard boundary, and a refusal to consent. That needs to be respected. Jen, you're absolutely right, this stuff with Ian should've been enough evidence of James's shitty behavior and personality. I never followed James Charles, I didn't know who he was until the fallout with Tati, but I am sickened by watching his antics here.
Exactly , I get If he was ATTEMPTING to use “sisters-“ as the way some people would use bro , or dude , in a sentence , but it wasn’t and once his brother said no, it should have been no . Instead . He continued. That isn’t even “miscommunication “ that’s ignoring clear boundaries
It's clear nasty, abominable, bully behavior.
The kind of thing that sadists, narcissist, sociopaths/psychopaths, & various other predators & devils perpetrate.

Him interacting with his brother is so uncomfortable. I feel so bad for Ian.
Notice James referred to himself as “brother” in the clip of the first video with Ian. 😡
@sonjaimmonen6610 the worst part for me was the fact that he blackmailed his brother into filming with him. and he thought it was funny. imagine having a millionaire brother who will only fly you out to visit him if he can make content out of it. 🤢
Zendaya... the origin of James Charles... never would have seen / remembered that
You missed the whole chunk of time when he was making the Dolan Twins SUPER uncomfortable and honestly I think he's the reason they stepped away
Thisssss I was thinking about that, when Emma Chamberlain was involved as well. It was so uncomfortable to watch. Knew nothing about him at that point and got such a huge ick from him then.
Anyone else remember when he implied he wasnt "100% gay" because he has found trans men attractive? Good lord
Y’all might of missed it , I’ve always got the ick from this boy. To me he always seemed kinda like a snake salesman, just fake. Mk too.

When Jen zoomed in on the yearbook photo, the evidence of him photoshopping his picture was clear. If you look at the lights on his eye, there is no ring light. You can clearly see two lights were used instead. Mind blown.
And if you look at the background of the photo, he is in the exact same position.
@SherryKraft the biggest give away was skin isn't smooth like that even with makeup pours don't disappear.
as a parent of 2 boys, one cis and one trans, this makes me so angry and sad for Ian. AGGRESSIVELY not respecting the pronouns or gendered titles of your own SIBLING is abhorrent. it's not cute. it's mean. and to do it to LITTLE teens.... jesus christ. you're right to make this video showing the signs that were missed. we need to keep our eyes and ears out for this shit at all times.
couldn't help but think that the reason why James thought the IT movie sucked 5 minutes in was because we're supposed to feel sad about the death of a little brother

Why do we call Hollywood actor's "celebrities" and "stars"?? Seriously why are they elevated so highly? They're normal people ACTING!
In the first video Ian still looks VERY young, to the point that he was still in school, & going home to everyone calling him ‘Sister Ian’ at school is exactly what he didn’t want. As an older brother he should have been thinking of ways to protect his brother and shield him from the many downsides of fame. Instead he chose to repeatedly exploit him for monetary gain. Withholding the trip from the whole family if he didn’t do what he wanted. That’s a lot of pressure to put on a teenage boy. James Charles is the definition of narcissistic and justifying his actions by saying, ‘well he got something from it too’. It’s sad.

James and Jeffrey moved mostly to tiktok. The audience is younger and probably doesn't know any of this❤
The same way James bullies the younger brother is how he treats all his victims.
I don't think James Charles ever thought he was going to do makeup I think he saw a market on CZcams that could be lucrative so he went with it... I think originally he wanted to be found as a singer like Justin Bieber... And his fall back was going to hair, hence the description talking about doing hair but then he saw the makeup craze
I hope I’m not the only one who’s suspicious of how often someone accuses James of something really big and after a few days they LOUDLY say that they didn’t mean it and it was all fabricated.

Born in the UK in the 70s. David Bowie, Adam ant, the new romantics, culture club, the entire 80s and punk culture. Boys wearing makeup is nothing new.
You're right about performance! I grew up loving Poison, Guns n Roses, and Motley Crue. All wore makeup. Men in the beauty industry are a different situation. The difference is Adam Ant wasn't a spokesperson for Maybelline or Revlon. David Bowie wasn't promoting Estee Lauder. They were wearing stage makeup for performance. Men in beauty in this case are wearing makeup for every day wear, challenging gender norms for cis men in daily life. That's what's different here.
Yes you are right, although my comment was actually aimed at the parents having an issue. Although I understand the attitudes of most people at the time boys don't wear makeup ( certainly my parents era) I was thinking more along the lines with my generation and more specifically in UK as we are less conservative than the US that it's nothing we haven't already seen.

Tati’s channel was leaps and bounds ahead of where James was when she began mentoring him - so the claim that she was leveraging his nascent stardom to her advantage is quite silly.
I also find her claim to be completely rational - namely that she was hurt by what she interpreted as James’ indifferent to backstabbing behavior, and repulsed by what she learned of James’ predatory actions towards young males.
I’m 59 though, and understand having an urge to nurture younger individuals who may be up-and-coming. This may have been more pronounced in Tati’s case as she is childless.

Wow, wow, wow.... as an educator, this is a prime example of why teenagers should not be on social media. Their brains are not fully developed, so they do not understand consequences of bad behavior. They really do not have the ability to handle themselves in such high profile situations. Where were his parents? I am shocked at how he treated his brother....I think money was definitely the motivation for his brother, but James took it way too far.
Teens can be on social media, but should have parental oversight. Their parents not stepping in is awful. My 14-year-old is on social media, and if there’s something her dad and I don’t want, we’ll tell her why, and she’ll defer to us since we discuss it. She is aware that she is still learning and that her brain still developing doesn’t mean she’s stupid for what she doesn’t understand yet. An hour long behind the controversy?!? And it's only part 1?!?!? Jen, you spoil us ❤
He is from my area and I know people who have said that even before all of the fame and controversy, he was the same person. They said this at the beginning of his popularity.
Why was he beating Maddie’s face like that? Here’s a tip! If you have to be that harsh while using a product? The products aren’t working and you’re probably not that good. I don’t go that hard on my own face. With other people, you go lightly and build up the products because you don’t know what their experiences are.
You brought up a great point: a lot of parents only accept their queer children if they get famous and rich. I see this often, sadly.
But I didn't think this was the case for James... Didn't he say multiple times that his mother bought him makeup and his dad constructed his studio, denying they ever rejected him?
25min in, i just need to say, younger james charles' eyebrows is a CRIME💀
fr they be looking like 2 chocolate bars on his face with how rectangular they are ( if someone has eyebrows like this thats fine)
And the worst of it is that everyone loved them back then. 2016 was a wild time
Yeah, I think the ridiculous brows and the baseball caps were easily the two biggest factors in ruining his makeup looks
Im really glad that you mentioned that James' parents not accepting him wearing makeup until it was making him money was really unkind of them, and may well have played a role in influencing how he went on to see his self worth as being related to how famous and how much money he made. I clocked that immediately when you first said his parents acted like that, and I was really glad to see you noticed it as well and brought it to our attention. The role of a parent is HUGE, we have to be so thoughtful and aware of how our behaviour will be interpreted and mimicked by our children, its the biggest responsibility in the world!
Please 🙄. There is nothing wrong with the parents not wanting there young ones to wear a cake of makeup. For work its understandable and special occasions ; but definitely not for daily use.
I can’t believe that James Charles has maintained a massive social media platform. It’s very disappointing.
Did anyone tell James he completely missed the entire secondary plot behind "IT"? Him not getting it tells me that he hasn't read a single King book, nor knows enough about his writing style to understand the concept behind the BOOK.
Akso, King sells the rights to the stories in his books to sell to directors/screen writers to make movie adaptations of his books. Stephen King is a book author, NOT a movie director, screen writer, or what have you. He sells the ability to those who do make movies so they can make their vision of King's books into a movie format. King's money comes from books, that is literally his job - write stories. Sure, he has a cameo in almost all of the movie adaptations from his books, but the creative process of movie making is left up to directors, screen writers, etc. This is easily verifiable information readily available via interviews that King himself has done throughout the years.
Also, rule #1 of theater etiquette says to put your phone on silent and away, there's literally a bit on the screen that says this before the movie starts. Most movie theater workers are trained to kick out anyone on their phone. The fact that he wasn't kicked out, and was on his phone throughout the movie would have pissed me off to no end if I were to have seen him do this. I am an AVID King fan, have read his books, have seen a lot of the movie adaptations, and is the only author I consistently read. IT in its full glory is terrifying from the BOOK that King wrote. Neither of the movies that King sells the rights for CHEAP on (and gets no income from profits for) are scary to this horror fan.
I'm glad I didn't watch this guy other than his consistent downfalls by other channels.
Also it’s Maddie Ziegler.. not Maggie, loving this series already Jen!
his scripted It apology was so corny 💀
LMAO i nearly jumped when you said "I'm only singing because Emilie told me to" i'm like WHO ME???
I have never had an issue with people networking and making connections for professional purposes. My issues are not respecting boundaries, doubling down on that stance, and well the other bigger stuff that just takes this to the next level. When he forced or pressured someone to change their story, or publicly attacked someone because they didn’t reciprocate affection- I find that incredibly disturbing. I stopped following and/or listening to anything he posted after that. I couldn’t support that behavior. Since then his behavior has just gotten worse and includes minors. How does he still have a following?
I'd like to know why their mother didn't step in and stop James from taking advantage of his younger brother.
I'm assuming for the same reason she raised someone as morally bankrupt as him.
Then I think more needs to be said about this! Because up till the end, we're talking about a minor. Jen was a teacher but fails to see how his parents allowed him to act this way. Now, once he gets older and he ignores ppl trying to help him understand why he's upsetting and he doesn't listen, that's an adult being a p.o.s. Then, it's on him. But this video was just wild to watch a grown woman shit on a minor.
@@mahelaniarektbb what do you mean a grown woman shit on a minor James Charles isn’t a minor he’s 25 years old right now.
I was wondering how in the world you would cover it all in an hour.! Didn’t see the “part 1” at first. Looking forward to part 2.!!
The fact he still has a huge following even after all this coming out about him
I had to stop the video to comment: the part with poor Ian, so absolutely CRINGE. As a mother seeing this I would intervene! He's clearly not comfortable with being there... I was never a fan or follower of this creep, so never atcually got deep viewing of his videos.
If Ian was calling him the wrong pronouns the entire community would’ve been up in arms. He bullies his own brother and not a word?
@@marionlogan6069 yes! And calls Ian sister but refers to himself as a brother even though it was supposed to be his “sister” thing
Things were weird back then.
@@marionlogan6069 that's the hypocrisy of the LGBT community. As a bi woman myself, there are so many things we say and do and no one bats an eye but if a straight person said those things it would be all over the internet. I've heard people from this community say things about straight people and even other members of the community that had my jaw on the floor and I am not a PC person at all. I think it's the hypocrisy of "we can do it but they can't" that drives me nuts ! 😖
I support’s the LGBTQ community’s right to choose whatever path they believe is right for them HOWEVER I do not support them forcing me to abide by their rules and desires within that path.
Imagine if you were a catholic but I was a Muslim… and you told me to eat pork despite knowing it was something I didn’t want to do out respect for my right to make my own choices. You then say I have to eat it or you create a public freak out simply because you believe you’re right and I should therefore support it because you said so. I would say while I respect that you chose your religion please respect that I have chosen mine and do not try to force me to do something I don’t want to do or else all this love, peace, my body my choice and stop gaslighting you preach is all for show!!!
Not ok!
what a weirdly prejudiced take on this 😭 he appropriated callling other people sister as a cultural thing as a phrase and detached it from gender and its original context. the problem was he didn’t see the problem with people being uncomfortable, because thats nobodys but the person whos being referred to’s choice
