A tip regarding pushing back pistons in calipers, make sure the surface u der that bushing is rust freez so you don't push that dirt/rust inside the caliper. You also unscrew the bleeding screw so old brake fluid won't go back to the brakelines but outside.

Don’t open the bleeder screw unless you know what you’re doing.. It’s far too easy to get air in there if done incorrectly.

So someone else quoted your customer incorrectly? Could the rotor not be turned down? Most places don't want to and they don't allow much tolerance for that these days, but it's doable most of the time. Saves your customer money and that usually keeps them coming back.

In this case we wouldn’t recommend resurfacing the rotor just because those rust pits were really deep. The amount of material that would have to be taken off, would make the rotor smaller than the minimum spec. If they were in better condition, absolutely.
