@@AgentSmith911 I have faith in BF, seems like they're going back to a similar formula as BF4. Not every EA game is horrible, all depends on the developer. The dev team behind Madden is notorious to not listening to what the customer wants. I think they gwt enjoyment out of the fact that they haven't made any substantial improvements on the gameplay in many years and people still buy it

Crazy how this story never changes. I’ve heard people complaining about Madden for nearly 10 years and they still don’t care. It’s crazy. Never seen a company not care about it’s customers more than EA.
As long as they sell EA will keep releasing subpar piles of S**T called games. People need to stop buying if they want to see any change.
They don't have to because the NFLPA doesn't care. They did take concussions out of the game to pretend they don't happen though.

Bring back 2k
Everything in the NFL has exclusive deals, from the shoes they allow the players to wear down to the types of tablets and headphones they allow. It doesn't make any financial sense to let anyone make a NFL game especially with the past games being 80% shovelware.
It's greed, that's all it comes down to and EA had the money to lock up an exclusive rights licence back in 2005. Word is the NFL weren't happy with that $20 something dollar price point for ESPN NFL 2K5, cause it made their league / branding look "cheap". EA s#!t the bed knowing there was no way they were going to keep up with the quality 2K was putting out. Ultimately 2K although had good intentions with that low price point, they ended up shooting themselves in the foot.

@Edward Richthofen It most definitely blew up. A large chunk of EA’s yearly revenue comes from their sports games’ Ultimate Teams. The idea was so successful, that the EA Board of Directors made the dude who first designed it the new CEO after the old one wasn’t able to reach desired quarterly earnings.

I still miss the days of creating a whole new team, designing a logo, and so on. I still remember recreating my high school home team and throwing them into the big leagues. I'm guessing they'd figure people would abuse it-- and they'd be right-- but by the gods would it be so, so refreshing than the same ol' sh-t they add each year.
this was the best part of madden in my opinion. it was great sitting down with my friends designing the worst team ever where our best player was the punter at like 50 OVR XD those were the days

totally agree. some of the old logos for create a team were great. i redid the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in black with red trim, similar to the Falcons (but had the falcons play in their throwback red uniforms) and a nasty looking pirate with a sword behind him. Also ive never been a fan of the name Tennessee Titans, i would prefer Nashville Titans. SO i recreated the Titans using same color scheme, but called them the Nashville Wildcats. And with the controversey surrounding the Redskins, i made the Washington Senators using a design similar to the old Patriots. miss those days of the game.
i would also LOVE to see in Madden ALL uniform combinations teams had - the Jets with the plane logo, the bucs orange pants, to name a few, the Patriots original tricorn hat logo, but i guess we will never see that

Well all the Ultimate Team suckers and yes you are exactly what I said, suckers. You are in for a big wake up call because it is only a matter of time before laws come into place to regulate it. There has already been hearings in other countries (where EA reps made in absolute fool of themselves, if you don't believe me I can post the link) and it has been banned in certain counties. It is a matter of time before it has happens in North America. When that happens, EA will have no choice but to focus on gameplay or lose their license to make it. When actual simulation gameplay happens, 90% of the suckers that cannot find glitches and spend hundreds of dollars to buy a better team, will not play anymore

- Make players on the sidelines actually look real and not jump up and down, and point.
-Make challenging plays actually work
- Fix your servers
- Touch up the fans a little
- Make the game actually be optimized for the new consoles.

0:35 Tua is lefty, so why is he throwing righty? That right there shows you how much effort EA puts into the game lol. What a joke.
Guarantee you that animation is scripted to throw in the starting QB of that team, with the backup next to them, always throwing right handed due to home/away team orientation on the field, etc. So they always have the QB throwing right handed for the animation since that's how the camera shot and player orientation are set up. Just lazy programming. A simple throwing hand check and having a reverse shot or different facing starting QB to throw left hand, sad really.

They are essentially getting paid by game "testers" who by the game and test it in real time then only actually look to fix a small the issues brought up through patches over the break between games. This way they can say fixed things and improved the game.

Them being a yearly game meaning less time to work on the game design unlike other big RPG Game’s who have years of development but they could work on animations, gameplay, and commentary

Once you animate the model the rest have the same animations. Dont make excuses for their laziness. If anythinf, they should be even more efficient and releasing premire high end graphics due to their experience creating a game every year.

This is the most accurate review of any game I've ever watched. EA is an absolute embarrassment of a company and the NFL needs to end this contract in 2026. EA pays top dollar to make sure 2K can't make another NFL game because if 2K could,, they would end Madden the same way they ended Live...John Madden is rolling right now.

Generic coach names don’t sell the game for me. They had actual coordinators in the old games 15 years ago

Reminiscing about the beginning of the end of my love for this series. It started much later on. The first thing that actually really got under my skin was the way Auto-Flip works. You can't run a proper Cover 3 base scheme (Not that you could ever run a realistic defense anyway), simply because of how auto-flip works. Typically when you base out of say...Sky you have one Safety that is primarily an underneath guy and one Safety that is a deep guy. Autoflip doesn't recognize these roles and flips the safeties putting your underneath guy deep, and your deep guy underneath. Forcing a true sim player to have to either balance their safeties, accept that on half their plays their defense will be out of position, or turn off auto-flip and have their defense's strength frequently be on the wrong side of the field. This simple thing was what really got me peeved at EA, all the rest just compounds it. Also the fact that the 3-4 Predator flip is broken, when the "end" flips he faces the wrong direction. It's been like this for...ever.
Then there is the broken owner mode. Ticket sales are still broken afaik but I haven't tried M22. Stadium rebuilds are ludicrously over-priced. A savvy human player can survive this, but the AI cannot. When the Vikings rebuilt their stadium IRL they started out with a EA'd stadium money sink and drowned in it. So EA has been forcing me to play as a coach for years, and years, and years when I actually don't want to be the coach. Additionally, player contracts are stupid we can ALLLLLL agree on that.
Everything that is wrong with Madden is because of the people that spend money on Ultimate Team. EA doesn't have to make a good game, because they keep the money rolling through Ultimate Team. Madden is just a scam to get the younger generations to dig into their christmas gift money and their parents wallets to buy virtual cards they don't even actually own. Stop fucking buying cards and we'll get a better NFL game be it from EA or from someone else if EA drops the exclusive license in the face of decreasing profits.
This is sad. I bought Madden 21 and it was so glitchy after two weeks I took it back. Looks like I’m doing the same with this one. I started Franchise mode played my first game on All-Madden. Won 28-16, when I got back to the screen it said that I lost 16-0. The stats that I accumulated were still present but I still lost. So Derek Carr had 3 touchdowns but I still didn’t score any points in the game!! More problematic is that this won’t get better hopefully until 2026
I read an article about a guy who worked on madden when they started using the frostbite engine he said that ea forced them to use it so they wouldn't have to pay for another engine like the unreal 4 engine and the frostbite engine is extremely hard to code and add new stuff to because it's not made for sports games it was created for first person shooters everytime they try to add something or patch a glitch it would take 20 minutes on a different engine but on the frostbite it can take weeks to fix a simple bug because it screws up so much code when you attempt to patch it

I feel like I’ve just kind of accepted that there won’t be another NFL simulation game worth buying in my lifetime. There is just no incentive to change for EA (or the NFL for that matter) and I’m done expending any energy on it after all these years. I won’t be buying another madden game, but it’s not like EA will ever care or notice and I’ve just become resigned to that fact.

Will not be buying Madden ever again and I'm sad but will not spend money just to yell and be mad at a game that's not going to change.
Something you didn't mention enough was how CB's in this game have a massively boosted speed and catching stat on all-pro or higher. 70% of the receivers in the game can't get separation on any route, and the 30% that CAN get separation will get fatigued and won't be able to do that after so many plays. In order to win you have to have a good RB who doesn't fumble, and just run every down.
CPU secondaries still have 360 degree vision and immediately teleport to the ball no matter where they were originally, and your own recievers will make zero effort to go up for them sometimes even when you hit the right button.
Passing is basically not even a part of this game anymore.
I was sick of Madden years ago. I bought a SNES and started playing Tecmo Super Bowl III again. I'm ten years into Season Mode. For the first four seasons I played Tampa Bay and won three Super Bowls. Dallas beat me in the NFC Championship game. Then in year 5 I took control of Jacksonville and used the classic players I unlocked due to winning the Super Bowl three times in a row to rebuild their team. Tampa beat me in year 6 but I finished with three more Super Bowl victories and took control of Arizona. I already have a Super Bowl victory with Arizona after going after Joe Montana in free agency. Basically I have had more fun lately with a football video game from 1995 and I haven't bought a Madden title since 07 for the Wii. I still love 07 on my Wii but the writing has been on the wall since then and Madden isn't worth it today.

They have to release the game every year before the NFL season. It’s hard to fix everything and make the game still interesting in that extremely short amount of time while updating the old game. Please be understanding that their goal is to make money, not a perfect football game.

This goes to show you that EA sports is in “panic mode” and will do anything to get money into their pocket.
Once a game starts to do bad one year after the other. It’s time to do the dirty and make this a transactional game vs a game where you actually make progress. Madden has turned into that sadly where card opening is more fun than the actual game itself.
I am glad EA is doing this actually because it shows the dirty and greedy side of what they are trying to do (it’s working but it’s slowly failing).
Stop buying madden and keep making them lose money. That’s the only way we can get heard at this point because dollar signs are way more important than listening to a pissed community sadly.

I love football, but I hate what Madden has become. I actually got into football by playing Madden 10 with my friend, ever since then football has become a huge part of life. Being a Ravens fan is part of my identity. Franchise mode is what hooked me, being able to relocate a team and actually having the creative input encouraged me as a gamer to be creative. Over the years I find my disappoint for Madden increasing but yet my shock value hasn't changed, disappointment is to be expected (Jets fans can empathize). Sadly I did get Madden 22 and it may be last Madden I buy for a while until the game substantially improves (especially franchise mode). Thank you so much for making this content because you have put into these videos thoughts and feelings about the game that i haven't been able to fully articulate myself.

I started playing Madden on the SNES in the 90s. Those games were flawed but still good, and there was competition. MUT is a cash cow, so EA doesn't really care about the actual game. Without competition there's no incentive for them to do anything but maximize profit.
You were so right when you said that Madden 07 is the best Madden. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours played on my GameCube. Also like you said, barring a complete rework from the ground up, this series is going nowhere. Year after year it’s the same mess and yet people still fall for it. Great video thank you for the deep dive. I’ve been thinking about the NFL exclusivity deal that has been in place and was extended just a year ago. I thought about the monopoly that EA has over the NFL license and why the league hasn’t pulled the deal yet. And I believe if they haven’t by now, knowing all the complaints of madden player, they never will. All the hashtags and social media trends will never get EA to really change the game because they keep getting suckers to buy it and then dump even more money in ultimate team. But I do believe there is one thing we players can do. I would ask you to encourage your viewers to start a letter writing campaign to John Madden himself asking him to remove his name from the game in an effort due to how EA has totally abandoned the idea of simulation football. Recalling the story of how John Madden made sure that the first Madden game all the way back in 1990 was accurate to what was being portrayed in actual football games before he would lend his name to EA’s product. I believe that getting Mr. Madden to remove his name from the game might actually shock about the development staff and the publisher and possibly even the NFL to really and truly rebuild the game and bring back more features from previous titles, add in more depth, and truly innovative again.

A big improvement IMO is quarterbacks no longer fumbling every time someone bumps into them while they’re running. I literally wouldn’t run the ball with any qb besides Lamar because of this lol.
Just think of all the resources they put into Face of Franchise (FF) year after year.. Probably a whole team dedicated to just that mode. Imagine scrapping FF and using that team/ resources to continue to build regular Franchise. More eyes and resources concentrating on one mode.

Love the idea of ultimate team. Putting your team of players you’ve collected against someone else’s. However, the pay to play absolutely ruins it. Along with scripted play, it’s a complete miss on a good idea

The only game I’ve ever played that does the Ultimate Team concept right is MLB the Show. You don’t have to pay to win you can earn stubs in the game and buy all the same packs that have the same odds of pulling a great player as the next one does. You don’t have to pay to win and even if you pay for stubs it doesn’t mean you’re gonna get more great players on your team. I don’t know why EA and 2K can’t do the same for their games.

@@ninetailedfox579121 not really in MLB the stubs you buy and the stubs you can earn can be used to buy the same packs which have the same chances of drawing gold and Diamond players no matter what. My DD team in MLB the Show are basically all guys I got from normal packs without paying for stubs.
@@JRoutz2012 From what I can tell in MUT there is only one pack that is only purchasable with microtransactions, and it isn't even the best pack. Just having packs that are purchasable with real money is what makes it pay to win. The Show is only pretending to be less egregious by face value.
