NFL 2K5 was the best immersion I've ever seen in a sports game. Why EA doesn't use that is ridiculous. They bought the rights and the license. USE IT!!!!!!
Also, make the damn o-line run/pass block realistically. 2K5 had that almost 20 years ago. EA is a joke.

First round picks are always going to be better than late round picks and that just isn’t realistic..
Mostly EVERY player develops at the same pace which is so weak lol.. If 2 running backs both get a touchdown, they both get the same amount of XP & that is so dumb. Realistically, players all develop at different speeds and in different ways
Same. And to be fair the last thing I want to do is gain points to make a player better. I feel like skill upgrades should be implemented into practice and GameDays only. Sort of like breakout challenges are. Make it important. I don't want to fill a bar, it feels stupid.

There are so many players that are "projects". Hell both the cover players sat for at least a year before starting
Madden has set the bar so low in recent years that i feel that these latest changes seem probably better than they really are. I feel like these updates are bare minimum, not innovative.

They need to add "long snapper" as a position as well. I don't understand why they are listed as TE's instead of Centers if they aren't going to have the position in the game.
I have to give the LS 99 AWR, 90 PB 80 Power PB 80 finesse PB and 40 run block/power/finesse & 75 impact block just to make them #1 or #2 on the depth chart for LS w/o making them a viable TE
Marcus.. you NEED to clarify that this is the next gen version of the game that you are reviewing. Most people don’t have the new consoles yet and they are not the same game. In fact the old gen version of the game is closer to 21 than 22 next gen. The presentation is the same, and gameplay is largely the same with player movement. I believe either home filed or momentum advantage is also not available on the old gen and I think people need to understand that before going out and buying the game while expecting these features.

@@ribfog9095 the features like the coaching staff and updated interface and everything is there. And the scouting changes is there. Not sure about next gen stats tho. You should check out Ericwayweathers channel to see the comparisons of old gen and new gen.

While I appreciate the changes they have added this year, I am really not overly impressed or blow away by anything. All of this could have been implemented years ago. Madden still feels behind so many other games
I'm gonna wait till the scouting overhaul. It would send a clear message if there was a huge spike in sales as soon as that update dropped.

He says earlier in the video that it's coming in December, but towards the end, he says September. Madden's site says September, to be clear

Madden 22's price will definitely drop beneath $60 and it will happen very quickly.

I haven't bought madden since 17 for the ps4. Just got 22 for the ps5 and im honestly surprised. Its not where it should be or where it needs to be compared to other sports games but ea seemed to listen to the community somewhat. Hoping it can continue to improve.

The best thing about the strides they made, is that by the time we're at PS6, Madden should have put back everything that was in the PS2 Madden!

I do like that you see more about the whole league, adds a ton of immersion, as it shouldn’t just be about your franchise and nothing else

I just can't with this series anymore, the gameplay is still fundamentally broken and over scripted. It just straight plays worse than it used to in years prior. They have to scrap the frostbyte engine for Madden, it doesn't work at all. The terminology is also infuriating, and it makes the game play poorly with incorrect defensive packages. I'm just done and will wait for the NFL to open the license to other developers, EA can't cut it and Madden still is a shell of itself from the PS2 era.
For anyone on PC this year I will be doing a TFG inspired roster complete with a significant ratings stretch, overhauled qb balance, more diverse injury ratings and better player rankings among many other changes for improved gameplay and a more realistic franchise experience. It won’t be the same as TFGs or officially endorsed by him or anything, but anyone looking for a realistic roster to improve your franchise mode on PC can use my roster.
He won’t. $100 says he gives up.

The unwillingness of EA to fix positional terminology and scheming, breaks the whole defensive side of the game. I just dont know how they can keep ignoring this basic aspect of football.
I wont be buying another Madden until they fix this.

If I put together a quick wishlist for Madden 23:
1. Training camp phase to offseason with PS2 type drills and mini games, as well as position battles. Oh, and new practice unis.
2. Coaching hot seat meter and tracker, where a coach builds up reputation by winning, but loses it by losing. If his meter gets too low he gets fired.
3. FA contract restructuring and Rookie contract negotiations
4. Player holdouts and trade requests
5. Ability to play Super Bowl regardless of wether or not you’re team’s in it
6. Replace relocation process with create a team, create a stadium, and create a uniform. Create a uniform and create a stadium would be available to non relocation teams as well to rebrand.
7. Overhaul of the injury system to visibly show where players are hurt. If a RB injures his knee during a run, he will start limping mid play.
8. 90s away jerseys for the Denver Broncos
9. Integration of the FOTF face creator into franchise for any player.
10. Equipment updates like the short loose QB sleeves that Bridgewater and others wear, the removed knee pads look, smaller base shoulder pad size to make certain players look more believable, tucked/untucked jerseys, and changeable chinstraps, etc.
11. Playable senior bowl to test out certain prospects before drafting them.
12. Preexisting injuries for some draft prospects, causing their stock to drop even if they’re good. Could get a steal of a player, but they might miss a season.

I feel like this video is giving way too much credit to EA... "unique" skill trees, they are all the same for all the coaches. I really do not see much difference between 22 and 21 franchise mode im on X/S version. Stuff looks like its there but it is not. "next Gen" stats do not display what so ever, All of the screens for info are the same as previous versions, in fact The news section has been dumbed down and is harder to read. There is 0 immersion, all of the Cut scenes for in game footage are identical from game to game, even the superbowl is basically the same from 21 and it shows basically a blank field with a panning camera then on to next season. All madden mode feels more like Pro setting. And why cant we get actual NFL music? The Game announcers are carbon copy i mean it is literally exactly the same they even talk about 16 game seasons. and personally i like the old background in franchise at least you could SEE the trophies you won occasionally you can see a glimpse of it before the black screen covers it. Then he says to be thankful... dafaq its been on a decline since maybe since 08... and to top this if you want the next gen version it was 69.99 they even charged more for this................. W u t ? The only TRUE difference I see in this year are 2 things, the momentum and some new faces.

Be "Thankful" were getting a decent scouting system? Ncaa had this 8 yrs ago. I'd be thankful if it was free! For $60 i EXPECT a complete football experience, not thankful as if theyre doing me a favor.
Don't forget that Sim Logic is at random to where even lowest rated teams or 8-9 teams can win a SuperBowl, the Simulation in Franchise Mode is always picking favorites include stats where you have the same outcome of Players having Pro Bowl seasons then get released for being a low overall player

While I agree franchise has cool feature this year which I love, I think the gameplay is still pretty terrible which is a huge part of franchise mode.
The movement and tackling is so much better

You can win a game in franchise mode only to return to the Home Screen and see that you’ve been credited with a shutout loss. All of your statistics count (including touchdowns) but you’re given a loss in the standings. Seems like something worth mentioning.
I still really miss creating a team with created players and booting that up in franchise mode in Madden. Glad NHL 21 still had it
With the scenario engine, I wonder how/will it work when you're 10-15 years into your franchise, and all the typical superstars are retired, and there a majority of created players on team rosters? It may seem like a silly question, but it stems from last year's game. Specifically, the announcers will break down your roster and highlight a key player when you play a game. When you get into the future and have a team of created players, that simply is gone.
For reference, I play on PS4. I don't have next-gen for last year's or this year's game.

It would be amazing if they did a defensive position overhaul. On top of ED, DL, and LB, they should consolidate CB, FS, and SS into DB. I think OL should get similar treatment with LT and RT simply be OT and LG and RG be OG.
It's very odd to me how some 15 years ago, EA Sports could include coordinator names in the game. Their bonus were extremely minor (boosts to some attributes to a specific position group), but they were still in the game.
I don't understand why they're including QBR in the game, which is on a 100-point scale, and showing QBR over 100.
Here's to hoping that when the contract is up NFL and EA partnership, the NFL won't let EA continue to have exclusivity with simulation football.

One issue I had with 21, my line backers ALWAYS pulled off covering the Tight End in man to blitz. It got old as it happened all the time, with any player. I hope that got fixed, or maybe somehow, my game was just screwey.

@@limitlessmaestro2110 Most of his complaints are fair. EA sucks as a company and Madden is an average (mediocre most of the time) product.
That said, RyanMoody's channel exists because Madden sucks. He needs Madden to suck to keep going.
Some of the stuff he does is pretty much just manipulating opinions. A simple example would be the glitches and bugs he features in his videos. He asks people to send videos to him when they experience these bugs. That's real, the bugs exist and are in the game, the problem is that he makes compilations of them, he only talks about them. The problem with this is that video games are buggy, you can take the most popular and well received games of the last 3 years, if you really try and ask people for videos of glitches, they will send you and if you can make a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 look bad because of a 10 minute "glitches compilation" video, you can make a mediocre game like Madden look even worse.
If I made a video compilation of bugs I personally had with Madden in the last 10 years, it would be a 30 minute video. Compared to the hundreds, maybe even more than 1.5k hours I've put into the games, that's nothing. But if you ask hundreds of people their own 30 minute glitch compilations and only show the negatives, you can make any game look bad.
Long story short, I can't count on him to praise Madden when (if) it finally becomes a good game. I also can't fully trust his opinion because he's an extremist. I don't trust people that are too positive about Madden but I also don't trust people that are too negative. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
@@Ocean5ix the truth is the game is bad and stale. Yeah he’s an extremist, but if you don’t think he and others like myself want a good madden game you’re very mistaken. He shows these extreme examples because every knows about the general bs already in the game, but it’s worse. I get what your saying, but this game just needs to better and holding people accountable is needed. Sure he’s an extremist, but if I gotta fire up my Xbox 360 to get a genuine madden franchise experience then I can see why an extremist does what they do. This bs has gone on too long

That said, the sports genre as a whole is destined to arrive at this point. If Football Fans think 2K Football games would be as good as 2K5, in 2021 they're mistaken. That's why I tend to say that these games should have a 3 or at least 2 year cycle with full support, free DLC and roster upgrades. Sports games as a concept are flawed and prone to stagnation, especially if there's no competition in the market.
You speak of firing up Madden or NCAA on the 360, and you right. The thing is, at the time everybody hated and was tired of the state Madden was in. They changed everything because it was bad and stale. People lowered their standards so much that all of a sudden PS3/X360 EA Football games were genuinely good.
hey Marcus do you have a recommendation on new gen vs old gen experience? Is it worth it without one of the newer machines/consoles, they said that the games are different on both so was wondering.
It's 100% worth it. Games aren't being designed with old gen in mind.

I agree. I played games that were recorded as losses even though I won by 20+ points in some cases. Recording wins and losses is the most barebones feature, and they messed it up.
@@jacobshroyer6109 that happens to me more often than not. i played 7 season games and 4 of those games were wrong. if i lost a game it would count as a win, but if i won a game it would count as a loss
Updates I want:
More Trade Slots
Better Draft/Scouting (yes I already know they are making it)
More contract management, like restructuring deals or back/front ended deals
How is running with the qb? Madden 20 was the last madden i played and whenever u tried to book it and run with the qb it would take like 5 seconds for dude to run, causing a ton of sacks
Significantly improved. M20 was terrible for QB movement.
I would give EA credit if we didn't have to get the NFLdropEA hastag trending for them to do something. This game has regressed significantly over the last decade plus. They still need to completely rebuild the game from the ground up or the gameplay will never be simulation football.
The menus remind me of NHL... that's a very very good sign that Franchise mode could be great
I'm waiting for the update to start my franchise, but I hope they fix the in game goals. I hated having get a pick with this guy as a goal drive, or throw a TD to this guy while you are winning like 28-14. I also wish that they would bring back position battles, and maybe even give a boost if you have a rookie out play your veteran. And.. I hope that if you are week 18 (now) and choose to sit your starters you get some type of a great bonus for that. And if there is for some way to make a run first teams' QB still progress. I love to just hand the ball off to Josh Jacobs almost every play, but hate that my WR, TE, and QB all have to suffer stat loss for that.

I don’t agree with your analogy at the end. At least Aaron Rodgers had to sit out for three years because there was someone better than him. Unfortunately no one is allowed to make an NFL game but EA so no one is allowed to blow this garbage ass game out of the water and we will be stuck with madden forever.
This is a decent first step IMO. But it’s just that. A step. This at least gives them more of a platform to build upon for next year. But the gameplay feels like it’s gone in the other direction. Can’t play defense because everyone is just moving in molasses. Only corners who I’ve seen able to consistently cover have acrobat, other than that it’s like a dice roll to see if you get 3 or 4 stops.
Madden 22 is the real stepping stone for future titles .I expected the new features they added weren’t gonna work 100% but with updates and titles down line things will be improved
Yup, at this pace we should have a realistic, functional football game around Madden 27!
I must admit first Madden game for me was 20 and when I upgraded to 21 it took me a whole to re adjust and I think it's just the same for now playing 22. I'm still optimistic

If this new WWE 2K22 game is a success its time EA skips a year of Madden. Just keep the roster guys updating the rosters for all 2021 and 2022 and drop a brand new Madden game in 2023. They need to rebuild madden.

The Momentum meter and other in-game next gen features are only on next gen consoles. Even the PC release didn't get any of those updates. This would have been good to mention.

I've played on PC and Next Gen. PC is on the last gen systems so XBOX one and PS4 and the movement has a little bit more of that quick movement. Next-Gen feels slower but more realistic with their cuts you can't just cut on a dime on next gen but you still can kind of on last gen and PC

I’m currently redoing the roster where all edge rushers are DEs. All IDLs are DTs and I’ll go redistribute the MLBs across the OLB positions. I don’t want to be seeing an 83 ovr LVE ask for 100 mill in FA because he thinks he’s an elite pass rusher

I like this year madden, but I still think it's avg not great but ok. Hopefully they keep adding to the franchise mode. But I'm satisfied to a certain extent.

Cooking the algorithm
Gameplay needs help, I love all the non-gameplay additions. But at it's core the gameplay still seriously needs help, coverage is abysmal. Pass blocking actually seems improved for the most part which is nice. The major two problems with the game I have gameplay wise right now that I hope get fixed are AI coverage and the lack of penalties. In 10 hours of playing nothing but games I have yet to see a holding penalty called. I hope these get addressed because everything else has been very nice to see from EA this year
You have to play on sim for more penalties
@@IGOBYTHENAMELOVE Sim is all I play on, I barely see any penalties and if I do they are Roughing the Passer, false start, and occasional offsides. Have not seen a PI yet but have seen others get them albeit at a very low rate. But the big one is holding. I saw one single holding Penalty in 12 games all on 10 minute quarters. Have not tweaked sliders yet so hopefully that can help but I have been on sim and there are rarely any penalties called.

I used to do dynasty & send over my draft classes. Obviously that's not possible but is it still fun?

Maybe there’s a reason for that….. EA is an awful game developer who only and I mean only caters to the pay to players…. If you ain’t spending more money on their game after you bought it, they don’t care
