Half right. They have a vague understanding of the laws, just enough to know what they can enforce and not enough for them to realise the extent on which they violate it. They don’t know the _specific wording_ of the law and that’s what catches them out in court. It’s the lack of knowledge of the specific wording that allows them to violate rights.
ID law: “when requested a person must give ID _when legally arrested_ or when a police officer has _reasonable articulable suspicion_ that a crime has been committed”
What cops hear: “when requested a person must give ID”

Many departments have quotas and things they want the cops to die regardless of your rights. So they only learn the basics they need to do the bare minimum

Very interesting how the cop in the end when being stood up to by the veteran has nothing to say except “anything else”
The other cop knew how bad he eft up so he tried to cover it with a arrogant pompous attitude. Because he was on tape earlier acting like he was top dog! I hope you let us know how this turns out. To the veteran thank you for your service! Thank you for taking care of this person’s property. We are blessed to still have you in this world.

Qualified immunity needs to be removed from all levels of law enforcement

Or at least have separate citizen jury/panel decide if it applies for each case that requires it instead of it being a blanket policy.

If I am in my home and victim of this kind of illegal entry, how much force may I use to defend against it, to defend my Constitutional rights? Less than lethal, surely -- unless I fear for my life or safety, or for that of others such as my wife and kids. I've read that the very presence of an unauthorized person in my home may satisfy that criteria. Does this include an unauthorized peace officer? I would argue that a cop would know better and thus his motives must be nefarious or he wouldn't be in my home illegally -- so _any_ force I use to defend myself, others, my property and my rights, is justified.
Anyone know of a case where an officer entered illegally and was met by force (let's say _strong_ force) and the resident was not prosecuted?

. Missing officers won't be missed by their family because that is the only way their family gets out of a domestic violence cycle. They would have killed his dog and him too if they felt threatened while trespassing.

A cop came to our sliding glass door as I was cleaning the bird cages. One of the cages was on the floor and the cop opened the glass door without permission. The outside cat darted in and immediately clawed my bird to death through the cage. I grabbed the cat by the neck and threw it as hard as I could towards the glass door - but the cop was in the way so the cop got a cat to the chest and face. Clawed him up real good. I proceeded to yell at the cop - what the hell is wrong with you - you weren't invited and you just got my bird killed you piece of sh.... I just finished smoking a joint before this and the cop extracts the cat and tosses it outside then closes the glass door. He turned around and sniffed - said it smells real good in here. I said yeah it does and you aren't gonna do a damn thing about it because you entered the property without a warrant. He said - well I am here because blah blah blah. He said some stuff and left.

It's like they did their investigation completely backwards. They noticed a vehicle that they deemed "suspicious" b/c it was parked at an abandoned building that had been broken into a year before. Fair enough. But they wait until they illegally trespass, make an unlawful entry, and illegally detain a man before they even tried to contact the building owner? At the end that's who I suspect he's talking to when the tyrant said "when an officer asks for id he better give it."
It doesn't take a brainiac to maybe think that you should have called the building owner before barging in on a man unlawfully. Especially considering the officer at the end says "for a month it looks like someone is living there not breaking in." He just admitted that there was no need for immediate action b/c there is no threat so why not call the building owner? Incompetence is the only excuse for these agencies.

Not really incompetence but willing disregard of the law and just plain laziness.
