You always do great vlogs. Looking forward to the next one. Hope you’re settling into your beautiful new home.
Thanks Nicqui! I'm loving the house! We are actually currently in the process of having some exterior work done on the house - new fascia/soffits (new wood in the old style - the old wood was in bad shape) & later this spring, new gutters (in the old style) & a new roof! I can't wait for it all to be completed! :)

Wonderful video ❣️ the pots turned out so beautiful and natural looking!
great technique, Im going to try this on some of my patio large mexican terra cotta style pots.
Loved this video, definitely will give it a go. Thankyou 🌻
I really loved your demonstration with the light touch. My friend and I tried 2 pots yesterday. However our touch was NOT light enough and to me they look, well goffy! I may sand off the "finish" we did yesterday and begin again! Thank you for your excellent explanation of your technique
Very nice!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very nice
Great job!
I always paint my new terra cotta planters with buttermilk mixed with water; and leave them outside for 48 hours ... and then they look beautifully aged & weathered.
I never varnish/paint them with real paint as this will seal the pot ... The beauty of a terra cotta pot is that the material 'breathes' which is so much better for the plants.
I think I might try your method, buttermilk is cheap!
Thank you, Chris.🪴
Looks good
Great job!
Fantastic video. Thanks for showing what kind of painting you were using 👏👏
Amazing! Thanks!

These came out beautiful Christopher. Wow.💚 I did some last year, now I'll try this technique with several paint colors. TFS & have a blessed Sunday evening.
That’s is nice love it.
HI Chris, I am new to your channel. I really like the painted finish you did on the clay pots! I have only seen them done with whites, what a difference the green shades make!!!! I look forward to seeing other projects you do! Blessings~
Wow Christopher sooooo beautiful and love your fireplace. I totally love the weathered distressed look ...you did a great job and I'm gonna subscribe to your channel first time I watched any of your videos was right now...Plz keep them coming 🥰🥰🥰🥰
You have the eye!
Que bonito gracias 🍀🍀🍀
Me gustó mucho 💐👏🏼
excellent
I used to paint my pots and they would end up looking like this. I liked my mistake. Nice tutorial!
Finally you are😊
@Christopher Hiedeman ... I've never tried this but really want to 'n I love the way yours turned out !!! BTW ... I recommend wearing gloves when handling spagnum moss ... it may have been just me, but I actually got an infection in my pinky fingernail from decorating with it in potted plants. Fortunately, it healed in about 48 hours after soaking my fingernail in a finger bowl with tea tree oil. Guess what else I advise? Wearing safety glasses when moving or tending to yucca plants because ... I once poked my eye while moving one in my home office. Again, fortunately, my eye recovered nicely and quickly but according to my eye doctor it has a tiny scar on it from the ... "angry attack" !!! I actually have manious plant incidents ... but I shall spare you !! ෴🐇෴
And all this time I was trying to clean up my pots and paint to look new.May just keep them looking aged, now.
You are Awesome. Looks great. Thanks for sharing😊
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I think it looks even better to add some greys.
Love this! Have two questions for you: Does the finished pot have to sit out in the sun for a few days/weeks to “cure” before you put flowers in it? Do you have to seal the paint with a clear coat spray before using? Thank you!
Hi K C,
I would recommend sealing the pot on the interior and exterior to preserve the decorative painted finish for outdoor use :)

Want to see Valentines Day decor
Really amazing thank you. Are the rags damp?
Thanks! The rags were dry when I started the process :)
- Christopher
Ppl who gave THUMBS DOWN prefer plastic pots!
😆
Do you seal the pots with anything? Love the look
Hi Becky,
Thanks! :) For artificial floral, no further finishes are really necessary. For real plants or exterior decorating, varnishing the inside & exterior will help protect the finish from weathering. They also sell saucers you could do this same technique to (or you could line the interior of the planter with a waterproof barrier).
- Christopher
What kind of varnishing you recommend to protect the paint from coming out I want to put this pottery outside in front yard
I am going to try it. It really is so contaigeous. Do you use acrylic paint? What kind ?
Will it last outdoor, is it necessary to spray it at the end in order to protect the colors? Thank you.
Hi Henny, I used acrylic paint in a variety of brands for these planters. If you are using these outdoors, I would seal the exterior and interior of the planter to make the finish last the longest :)
- Christopher
Thank you!
As one of the other viewers said, watching you is very relaxing. Enjoyable and grounding.
Gorgeous! Thank you! Quick question....do you think it needs a sealer if you don’t use outdoors?
Thanks Margaret! Yes, I would seal the planter just to be safe and protect the finish from weathering :)
-Christopher
Great job! Christopher have you ever tried aging plastic pots? I have pots I like the look of but not the color or plastic look but not sure what type of paints to use or what method to use. You did a beautiful job with the terra-cotta pots I would love to see what you could do with the plastic planters.
Thanks! I have not tried this on the plastic planters yet, but that is a great video idea! I will keep that in mind for future videos :)
- Christopher
Christopher, I have two outdoor Terra Cotta pots which were bought over a decade ago and were previously painted and sealed with a multi-color pattern and are showing wear and tear. All of the videos I have seen is in regards to painting Terra Cotta pots without any existing color and they start with a white color wash and so on. What procedure are steps would you suggest for those who are trying to repaint Terra Cotta pots like mine? Thanks again for any suggestions
Hi George, because your planters are already sealed the results might turn out a little different than mine but you might be able to achieve a very similar look if you first painted the planter a solid terra cotta color, let the paint dry completely, and then follow the steps in this video. You'll have to make sure you use a paint (the terra cotta color) that holds up to moisture so that when you start applying the white wash it doesn't remove the terra cotta paint color. Because your sealed planters are impermeable to the watered down paint, you might try watering the paint down a little bit less because the planter won't soak up the color but you will still get the ability to have the color washed look and be able to remove the excess until you achieve the desired finish. :)
